Brooke tells Nick to leave Bridget alone.
Brooke asks Nick what he'd do if Bridget offered to take him back. Nick doesn't think Bridget would want him, since she's been hurt enough, but Brooke points out that Bridget tends to follow her heart. Brooke again asks Nick why he hasn't set a wedding date yet. Nick doesn't think he should be rushing to the altar given his track record, but Brooke thinks he'd go back to Bridget in a heartbeat if given the chance. Annoyed, Nick informs Brooke that Bridget is dating Owen. Brooke asks why that seems to bother him. Nick denies that it bothers him, but he admits that he still has feelings for Bridget. "You don't marry somebody twice because you ran out of ideas," he contends. Brooke reminds him that he hurt Bridget more than once and orders him to leave her daughter alone. Nick says that he has to get home. Brooke tells him not to dial Bridget's number on his way out. Nick tells her to accept that Bridget is out with another man and isn't interested in him anymore. He realizes that he burned that bridge twice. Brooke thinks they both know that, but she points out that the passage of time and the bitterness left behind don't always matter, since some people always remain connected.

Owen wonders if he did something wrong.
Bridget and Owen make out at his place. Owen points out that this is the part where she usually stops him, but Bridget laughs that he's learned his lesson and lets him keep going. They move to the couch and Owen starts to lower the strap on her bikini top, but Bridget stops him. Owen asks if he did something wrong. Bridget assures that he didn't. She explains that she likes him, but she isn't ready to have sex with him yet. Owen asks if she's still rebounding. Bridget says that she's not the type to leap before looking, and she needs to feel safe before she's intimate with someone. Owen assures her that he's not in any hurry. He just wants to convince her that he's worth a second look. Bridget states that she wouldn't be here if he hadn't convinced her already. She thanks him for a wonderful evening and apologizes for cutting it short, but she thinks she should be going. After saying goodbye, she turns to leave, but Owen stops her so he can give her one more kiss before she goes.

Jackie tells Owen about love and seduction.
Soon after, Jackie arrives and finds Owen cleaning up. She asks if Bridget left, since she didn't see Bridget's car outside. Owen is surprised to see her. She explains that she was driving home after having dinner in Malibu and decided to check on him. She assumes that Bridget left in a hurry. Owen informs her that he and Bridget had a nice evening together, but Bridget decided to cut the night short. Jackie thinks that's a sign that Bridget still isn't over Nick yet and asks Owen to tell her about his dinner date. When Owen tells her that he grilled some steaks for dinner, Jackie quips that "romance is not compatible with heavy chewing" and asks what else happened. When Owen answers by talking about dinner, Jackie laughs that he needs a few lessons in seduction from an expert. Owen suggests that Bridget wasn't thinking about Nick when she cut things short; he thinks she just wanted to keep from rushing things because he's important to her. Pouring two glasses of wine, Jackie chuckles that when she was younger, she and her friends were picky about which men they'd let "plunder their treasure." But as the years went by, those men would find another "treasure" to "plunder," and that left her feeling like she was unworthy of being pursued. Owen sees how vulnerable she seems and strokes her hair, going from there into a passionate kiss. From there, Owen starts removing her clothes and things heat up between them.

Katie talks with Brooke about Nick and Bridget.
Katie comes home and finds Brooke, not Nick, waiting. Brooke wants to talk about Jackie M, and more specifically, about Bridget working there. Katie thinks they could have found a less expensive alternative, like moving out of this house and living with a lot less, but Nick brought in an inexperienced designer instead. Brooke points out that Jackie, not Nick, hired Bridget. Katie says that Jackie wants to reunite Nick and Bridget and even admitted it, but Brooke points out that Jackie always wants Nick back with the previous woman in his life, and Bridget experienced that, too. Katie doesn't want to talk about it, but Brooke thinks she has to. Katie supposes this is payback for her. She admits that she wants to trust Nick, but she knows that he wouldn't be with her now if he was trustworthy. Now Nick spends more time with his ex-wife than with her, and since Bridget married Nick twice, she's like the ex-wife squared. It's like it's a case of karma where she's getting what she deserves, but she can't talk to Nick about it since he'd say she was imagining things. Brooke points out that Bridget was a young, naive girl when she first got involved with Nick but has grown into a woman with a sense of herself who has now moved on by dating another guy. Katie still feels like she stole Bridget's life, but Brooke thinks Nick and Bridget still wouldn't reunite if Katie moved out of this house tonight. Katie thinks Brooke is right and decides to fight for Nick. She says that Nick and Bridget had their chance, but they couldn't make it work. Now it's Katie's turn to try and she's not going to give Nick up.

Bridget asks Nick why he just won't let go.
Bridget goes back to the office and finds Nick, who decided not to go home after all. He asks how her date was. She says it was very nice, but Nick thinks it must have also been very short if she's here now. Bridget states that dinner doesn't mean she'd spend the night at Owen's, not that it's Nick's business since he's not her father. Nick points out that he's her boss and pays her salary, but Bridget quips that she's probably paying his salary right now. She asks why he keeps looking after her when he claims to have everything he wants with Katie. Nick asks if it's wrong to care about her. Bridget tells him to stop kidding around, because she has no defenses with him. He's still the biggest thing that ever happened to her, and she'd rather hire someone to shoot her than let him happen to her again. That's why she can't understand why he won't just cut the cord. Nick admits that she's the best thing that happened to him, and he threw it away.

Nick tells Bridget that he's sorry.
Bridget wonders why they're even discussing this. Every now and then in life, explains Nick, you get a chance to say 'I'm sorry' when you make a mistake, and he's sorry that he hurt her. Still, he feels that watching her move on and grow makes him want to be a better man. Bridget tearfully tells him that she hates when he does this, since he's said he's sorry a hundred times and never really meant it. Nick denies that, but Bridget sobs that she made a conscious leap of faith to trust him, and she didn't think she was wrong to do it. But that left her wide open to be a perfect target for a kid with a slingshot - and that's how she sees Nick, as a little kid who wanted it all. As hard as it is, Nick admits that she's right that he wasn't man enough, and he's sorry for that because he hurt her heart. "If you never forgive me," he states, "I won't blame you. But just know I am sorry." The two gaze at each other and then kiss. Nick pulls away from the kiss and, after gazing back at Bridget, turns around and leaves.
