Bill encounters Katie by the Cafe Russe bar.
A depressed Katie downs three martinis at Cafe Russe, complaining after the third that they taste like jet fuel. Bill sits down at the bar and observes Katie as she orders another martini. Bill points out that she still hasn't finished her last one yet and suggests she have some water instead, but Katie, clearly soused, complains that water doesn't dull pain the way vodka does. Katie tells Bill that he's good looking and asks if she knows him. Bill doesn't think so, but he introduces himself with just his first name, stating that his friends call him "Dollar Bill." Katie tells him her name and giggles that her friends call her "Home-wrecker." Katie then tells Bill the story of how she stole the husband of the woman who saved her life; she knows it shouldn't have happened, but it doesn't matter since it's over now. She then orders another drink, but the bartender cuts her off. Katie asks Bill to order a drink for her, but he suggests that he take her home instead and asks where she lives. Katie chuckles that she's not quite sure, but she guesses she can crash at her sister's place. Bill takes Katie to his hotel suite downstairs to get his car keys.

Katie flirts with Bill in his hotel suite.
When Katie and Bill get to his room, she starts raiding his mini-bar. Bill suggests she try some coffee instead, but Katie wants to have fun, since she hasn't had fun in ages. Bill tells her to stop talking, since she's done enough of that tonight. Katie apologizes for boring him with her problems and motions for him to come over. When Bill approaches, Katie puts her arms around him and says that he seems like a nice guy, the kind of guy a girl could fall in love with. Suddenly, Katie's vision blurs and she sees two Bills, both out of focus. She falls back on his bed and passes out. Bill calls out to Katie, asking if she's OK. When she doesn't answer, he looks at her and ponders his next move.

Jackie urges Nick to go after Bridget.
At Jackie M, Jackie tells Nick to stop wasting time and go after Bridget, but Nick tells her that Bridget ran away from him and went right into the beach boy's arms. Jackie realizes that he wants Bridget back, but Nick doesn't know how to make that happen. Jackie advises him to tell Bridget how he feels, but he points out that she is moving on with Owen and is with Owen right now at his beach house. Jackie thinks that he's the one Bridget wants, not Owen, so she urges him to get over to Owen's before Bridget gets in over her head. Nick tells Jackie that he and Bridget talked, and he knows she still loves him. The problem is that they kissed in the midst of that discussion, and that's why Bridget wanted to resign. Jackie explains that Bridget wanted to get away from him because she wants him so much. "I can make her happy. I can be the kind of man that she wants," Nick insists. Jackie says that he already is that man, but Nick thinks he has to rebuild the trust between them. Jackie is sure he can do that, so Nick says, "Let's go get her."

Bridget can't bring herself to do the deed.
Owen and Bridget arrive at his beach house. When he thinks it's hot in there, Bridget takes off his shirt and leads him to the couch, where they start making out. As they get more passionate, Bridget starts thinking about kissing Nick. Owen asks if she's still with him. Of course, she replies; she tells him that last time she was here, she walked away, but tonight will be different. She strips down to her lingerie and straddles him on the couch, kissing him again, but then she pulls away and tells him about how she recently kissed Nick. She stammers as she tells him how she felt like she was moving on until Nick kissed her, but she wants Owen to know that she really wants, and needs, to move forward with him. They resume kissing, but Bridget doesn't feel right doing this and asks Owen for a glass of wine. Owen hands her a glass and is shocked when she downs the whole glass in one shot. He asks Bridget what she needs him to do. She tells him to sweep her off her feet and make love to her. Owen is happy to oblige, but as things start heating up, she thinks of Nick and tells Owen to stop. Owen asks what's wrong, but Bridget tells him not to stop. She knows she still may be getting over her ex, but she wants him. Owen says this isn't what he wanted for them. Bridget tells him to go ahead - but when Owen does, Bridget finds herself thinking about Nick again and realizes that she can't do this. She apologizes to Owen, who says he understands, because he has someone else in his life, too, someone unexpected who came along in unique kind of relationship.

Jackie's comments about Owen make Nick suspicious.
Meanwhile, as he and Jackie drive to Owen's, Nick hopes he's not too late. Jackie warns that he might be, because Bridget is determined to get over him and Owen is good-looking and an unbelievable lover... Nick asks how she'd know what kind of lover Owen is. Jackie covers that she assumes a good-looking guy like Owen is a great lover. As they get closer, Jackie gives Nick a shortcut to take. Nick is suspicious, but Jackie covers that she made sure to know how to get to her Chief of Staff's place since she had to go out there a few times.

Owen tells Jackie that nothing happened with him and Bridget.
Back at Owen's, Bridget is surprised to learn that Owen is hung up on someone. She wonders why it's so hard to have meaningless sex. Owen says that they gave it a good try, but Bridget frets that she can't understand why she is so hung up on Nick when she really, really, really wants him out of her life. Just then, Nick bursts in; seeing a half-naked Bridget there with Owen, he assumes he's too late. Bridget asks him what he's doing here. He says he came to get her, but he obviously was not in time. Bridget tells him that it's not what he thinks, because nothing happened between her and Owen. She sighs, "I couldn't stop thinking about you." Nick tells her that he wants her and will do whatever it takes to have her, and then they start kissing. Jackie comes in and asks Owen if he and Bridget... Owen tells her that Bridget couldn't do it, and neither could he. Pleased, Jackie starts giggling and gives Owen a big, passionate kiss. Nick asks his mother what she's doing. She chuckles that he's not the only one who found his way tonight and looks back to Owen, who agrees. Jackie starts purring and laughing, and she and Owen start making out, much to the surprise of a stunned Bridget and Nick.
