Thomas fumes upon catching Steffy with Rick.
In Eric's office, Rick assures Steffy that Ridge and Brooke will work things out. Steffy wonders if they should have revealed their intent to reconcile. Rick tels her that they need to be open and honest and not keep any secrets. Steffy frets that she tried to tell her mom that Rick had changed. Rick promises to prove that he's changed to everyone and kisses her. Thomas walks in and sees them kissing. He orders Rick to keep his hands off Steffy and shoves them apart. As Steffy pleads for Thomas to stop, Rick tells Thomas to back off. Thomas asks Steffy how she can let this scum back in her life. Steffy insists that Rick has changed and states that she wants to give him a second chance, but this time they plan to do it without sneaking around. Thomas begs Steffy not to let Rick use her again, especially since she knows what it will do to their dad. Steffy tells him he's wrong about Rick. Rick asks Thomas to give them a chance, but Thomas asks why he should. "Because I gave you one," Rick retorts. Thomas asks Steffy if she cares what their father will do when he finds out. Steffy informs him that both their parents know already, even though they don't like it. But there's nothing their parents or Thomas can do about it, because it's her life, and she wants to spend it with Rick.

Rick and Steffy make a plea to Thomas.
Steffy asks Rick if they should leave L.A. and move to Paris, but Rick won't leave his father while the company is under attack. Thomas states that Ridge can run the company with his help, so Steffy and Rick can fly off into the sunset if they want. Rick doesn't think Ridge would want Steffy to leave, and he doesn't think Steffy wants to leave L.A., either, so he won't make her choose. He thinks the only answer is to find a way for both their families to accept this relationship. Steffy tells Thomas to stop fighting her if he wants things to change. Now that Phoebe is gone, their parents need them more than ever, and she needs Thomas in her life as her big brother. That's why she wants Thomas to try and accept that she wants to be with Rick. She states that it doesn't have to be a problem unless he makes it one.

Katie and Donna learn of Brooke's marital woes.
Brooke comes home and finds Donna and Katie waiting for her. Brooke tells them that she and Ridge had a fight about Rick and Steffy, who want to get back together, and Ridge walked out when she wouldn't forbid their adult children from having a relationship. Donna thinks Ridge will get over it, since he's Brooke's husband. No, he isn't, Brooke corrects, explaining that her marriage to Ridge wasn't legal. Katie and Donna are shocked. Brooke tells her sisters that Ridge kept the news about their marital status from her, and Stephanie thinks he did that because he didn't want Brooke to know. Donna advises Brooke not to believe anything Stephanie says, but Brooke points out that she saw for herself that Ridge doesn't trust her when Steffy and Rick arrived to ask her and Ridge for their support. She feels like Ridge kept the truth about their marriage from her to test her. Donna and Katie still have their doubts about anything Stephanie said. Brooke tells her sisters that Stephanie wants Ridge with Taylor, and every time she and Ridge argue about Rick and Steffy gives Stephanie a chance to bring those two together. She can't fight this battle anymore and just wants the conflict to stop. Donna agrees that Stephanie is using the situation to drive Ridge back to Taylor. Brooke sighs that it seems to be working, but Katie doesn't think Ridge will let his mother manipulate him.

Taylor sees that Ridge seems more relaxed.
At Big Bear, Ridge and Taylor pull away from their kiss. Taylor asks Ridge if this is what he wants, since the anti-anxiety pill she gave him could be affecting him, but Ridge insists that being here with her is what let him get a grip on the situation. Without all the tension of having to justify his feelings about Rick, he feels at peace. Taylor states that she was scared earlier, since she never saw him in crisis this way. Ridge tells her that he was in despair at first, but then she was there for him, like an angel. Taylor tells him to get some rest, but Ridge continues to wax about how much support she has given him. He admits there were times when they weren't really connected, but facing Phoebe's death brought them together as a family, and he thinks they can come together that way again to handle Rick and Brooke. Ridge notes that Brooke hasn't even tried to call him, so Taylor admits that Brooke tried to call earlier, but she turned off the sound on his cell phone. While Taylor gets him some more tea, Ridge picks up his phone to call Brooke, but he sees a photo of his daughters on the phone that sparks memories of the accident that cost Phoebe her life. Taylor returns and asks if he talked to Brooke. He tells her that he was thinking about Phoebe; he won't let Rick take another daughter from them and can't understand how Brooke supports Rick. Taylor doesn't know. Sitting there with him, she notes that he seems more relaxed. Ridge looks at her through hazy eyes as they recall some fond memories from their marriage. He tells her that it just doesn't seem impossible to keep Rick and Steffy apart with her here by his side.

Brooke tries to talk to Ridge.
Ridge gets a call from Brooke, who wants to know if they can talk. Ridge asks her to wait until tomorrow, but she doesn't know if she can wait that long to clear up the misunderstanding between them. Ridge asks if she really thinks it's just a misunderstanding. Brooke tries to tell him that they'll only make matters worse by forbidding Rick and Steffy to be together. Ridge tells her that she has to keep Rick out of his life and Steffy's. When Brooke says she can't, Ridge hangs up. Taylor asks him what happened; he tells her that Brooke just doesn't get it, and he fears that she never will.

The Logan girls stick together.
Brooke tells her sisters that Ridge hung up on her. Donna and Katie ask where Ridge was and how he seemed. Brooke doesn't know where he was, but she notes that he sounded calm and detached. Her sisters tell her to stay positive and just give Ridge some time. They are sure he'll be back here apologizing once he blows off some steam. Brooke thanks her sisters for being there for her. She thinks Stephanie was right about how the "Logan Girls" stick together. Donna and Katie agree and the sisters share a warm hug. Brooke tells her sisters that she and Ridge will work through this once she gets him to understand that what happens to Rick and Steffy has no bearing on their marriage. She's confident that she and Ridge will go downtown to make their marriage official in due time, and then they can move on with their lives.

Ridge tells Taylor that he's made a decision.
Outside the cabin, Ridge tells Taylor that his relationship with Brooke isn't working, since the mere mention of Rick's name creates tension and mistrust. Taylor says she understands. Ridge asks if she didn't trust him enough to come to him when she had problems. She tells him that she backed off to keep from disrupting his life. Ridge notes that he's smiling for a change. Taking in the night air, he feels alive, and he doesn't want to go back to all the trauma and angst. He thinks he is calm here, whereas he'd be looking over his shoulder for any references to Rick if he went back to Brooke's. He knows Brooke doesn't want to hurt him, but she wants to support her son, so he feels like has no choice about what to do next. "I'm leaving. I have no other choice," he states. "I'm moving out."
