Nick and Bridget celebrate their engagement.
An excited Nick leads Bridget to their bed and laughs as he kisses her. Bridget asks if he's excited about something other than his firing Owen. Nick tells her to let him enjoy his euphoria over getting rid of Owen and pops some champagne. Bridget hopes he's not telling her that his mother and Owen broke up. One thing at a time, Nick chuckles. Bridget doesn't want to drink to poor Owen being fired, since Owen meant no harm. She points out that Owen can still find a new job someplace else and keep sleeping with Jackie. Nick doesn't think that will happen and bets that Owen will just stay at home waxing his surfboard while Jackie works, but he predicts Jackie will eventually tire of that and dump the loser. Nick then asks Bridget what's the worst thing he could do to her that he hasn't already done. She asks if he's fishing for suggestions, so he tells her to humor him so he can make a point. Bridget makes some offbeat suggestions, even kidding that he might have done every miserable thing possible already. Nick agrees that he might have already sunk as low as he can, so that leaves only one thing to do: he pulls out a ring and asks her to marry him! Dropping the ring in her champagne glass, he asks what she has to lose. Bridget doesn't think she can lose her self-respect after all they've been through and rattles off a lot of their history. Nick takes that as a yes and promises to be good to her "till death do us part," just like he vowed the first time, but this time he knows what he's doing. Bridget whispers that this time, their invitation should say, "no gift please." Nick thanks her and kisses her. Bridget tells him that was his best proposal yet and they kiss even more passionately. After they have sex, they laugh as they discuss telling their families about their wedding plans.

Owen surprises Jackie with an engagement ring.
At Jackie M, Owen leaves Jackie's office for a few minutes and quickly returns. Jackie asks where he went, and he responds by presenting her with an engagement ring! As he shows her the ring, he chuckles that he didn't charge it to her credit card. Jackie says it's beautiful, but she seems subdued. Owen asks if she changed her mind. Jackie speculates that he is only doing this because she didn't stand up for him with Nick and assures him that he doesn't have to marry her just to have a place to live. Owen tells her that he's not worried about that, because he knows he can land on his feet. He just wants to take care of her, but he knows that he's the lightweight in their relationship and can't afford to buy her expensive gifts. Still, he knows she can buy those things for herself, but that doesn't threaten his manhood one bit. He just wants a leg to stand on the next time Nick barges in and tries to eject him from her life, and he'll have that as her husband. "I will never try to change a single thing about you," he vows. "You are perfect just the way you are, and I want to be with you, if you'll let me." Jackie lets him slip the ring on her finger and they kiss.

Stephanie asks Taylor about the pills Ridge took.
In the bedroom at the Forrester guest house, Ridge and Taylor stare at each other, while Stephanie pauses in the living room and looks at the bottle of pills she took from Taylor's purse. Stephanie calls out to Taylor to come to the door for a minute, since she remembered something she wanted to talk about before she leaves. Taylor enters the living room, where Stephanie shows her the bottle of pills. Taylor explains that those are her pills for anxiety, and she gave one to Ridge yesterday to calm him. Stephanie states that she saw Ridge take one earlier, but Taylor is sure he couldn't have taken too many. Sensing Stephanie's concern, Taylor wonders if she should step back and be a bit more detached to her approach with Ridge. Absolutely not, Stephanie insists; she thinks that's the worst thing Taylor could do as Ridge's lifeline.

Katie tries to console Brooke.
Having been told by Rick about Brooke's break-up with Ridge, Katie comes over to console her sister. Brooke insists that she's fine, but Katie doesn't believe that. Brooke frets that Ridge is upset with her because she didn't forbid Rick and Steffy from being together, but she doesn't think she can do that when Rick and Steffy refuse to stay away from each other. She's sure Ridge thinks it's all her fault. Katie thinks Ridge is upset with Rick, but Brooke counters, "No, he's upset with me." Katie suggests Brooke give Ridge some time to come around, but Brooke doesn't want Ridge to think she's angry and decides to call him. When Ridge answers the phone, Brooke asks where he is. He tells her he's at the guest house. Brooke asks him to come home, but he says he can't do that as long as Rick can walk in at any time. Brooke says she just wanted to say goodnight and tell him how much she loves him. She predicts that they'll work this out and he'll be home soon, but Ridge simply bids her goodnight and hangs up. Brooke tells Katie where Ridge is. Katie asks Brooke where she expected him to be, so Brooke explains that he spent the night with Taylor at Big Bear. Katie worries about that, but Brooke assures that Taylor was just helping Ridge. She guesses she should be grateful, since Ridge sounded happy, but how can he be happy being away from her?

Brooke tearfully remembers her beach wedding to Ridge.

After Katie leaves, Brooke lies down and cries as she remembers her most recent wedding to Ridge on the beach at Malibu.

Ridge assures Taylor that he's fine.
Taylor returns to Ridge, who tells her that Brooke called. Taylor shows him the pill bottle and asks how many he took, reminding him that she only gave him one pill yesterday. Ridge admits that he took a few more under the assumption that she would never give him something that was bad for him. He assures her that he's fine, but Taylor wonders if she did the right thing giving him one of the pills. Ridge asks if there's something he should know about the pills. Taylor explains that she just doesn't like the idea of him self-medicating. Ridge says that he didn't think he was and claims he would have told her had she been in the room at the time. Taylor asks how many he took. He thinks for a moment and says he took two. Taylor offers to write him a prescription if he's not feeling better in a few days. She tells him not to hesitate to ask her if he needs anything.

Taylor watches Ridge as he falls asleep.
Taylor then puts him to bed. Ridge's vision starts to blur again as he talks with Taylor, telling her that they were always able to talk about anything. Taylor doesn't quite remember it being quite that easy all the time. Ridge admits that he hurt her. Taylor tells him that this is a new chapter in their lives, noting that she hasn't seen him happy in a long time. She reminds how happy he was when he was with her and their children, and she wants to make him happy again. Giving him a kiss on the lips, she bids him goodnight. Ridge says good night to her and closes his eyes. Before she leaves, Taylor pauses for a moment and looks at the bottle of pills sitting on the table. She picks up the pill bottle and leaves the room.
