Nick wants Owen out of Jackie's life and company.
Nick enters Jackie's office and interrupts her making out with Owen. He asks if this is the way they do business here. Jackie scoffs that he'd know about the business if he showed up for meetings, like the one he missed this morning with the accountants. Nick says he didn't know about a meeting. Owen says that he tried to call Nick, but his phone went to voice mail. Jackie offers Nick the detailed notes Owen took from the meeting. Nick is furious that Owen was there, since he doesn't think Owen should be privy to their finances. Owen states he was just looking after Jackie's best interests, but Nick thinks Jackie's best interest is to have Owen out of her life and the company. Jackie tells Nick that he's overreacting, but he thinks she's being naive to let Owen into her bed and her financial talks. Owen states that he cares about Jackie and the company, but Nick accuses him of taking Jackie for a ride. Jackie has had enough and tells them both to stop, but Owen refuses to sit here and listen to Nick's garbage. He notes that Nick obviously wants him out of here, but that's Jackie's call to make, so he asks her what she wants. Nick answers for his mother and tells Owen to pack his things and get out, but Owen wants to hear it from Jackie. Nick urges Jackie to trust him about Owen, who asks Jackie for her decision. Jackie tells him that she's sorry, but she has to side with her son.

Owen tells Jackie what he wants.
After Nick leaves, Jackie reminds Owen that they're still living together, even if he's not working here. Owen fears it's only a matter of time before Nick convinces her to toss him out of her home, too. Jackie reminds him that Nick is her son, and they started this business together. Owen says that he understands why she had to fire him, but he thinks it's clear that Nick doesn't want him anywhere near her, so he wonders if he should just move on rather than wait for something that isn't going to happen. Jackie insists that things ARE happening between them. Owen answers that things have been great with them, but he wants more. Jackie thinks he's getting bored with her, but Owen says that he isn't. What he wants with her is a life with her, but he knows that's not what she wants. But she always told him to be honest with her, so he's doing that now and taking the next step. Jackie asks what he's talking about. "I'm talking about marriage," he states, getting down on one knee and asking her to marry him. Stunned, Jackie gasps, "Oh, what the hell, I'll marry you." She repeats the words "I'll marry you" a few times as they playfully embrace and kiss.

Brooke tells Ridge that their marriage is forever.
Brooke passionately tells Ridge that he's not leaving her, because their marriage is forever, but Ridge thinks their problems are insurmountable. Brooke asks him to let their love help him stop carrying around the anger he has inside. She doesn't know how, but she's sure they'll find an answer. As they embrace, the phone rings. The answering machine picks up and Rick leaves a message for Brooke that he and Steffy will be by for dinner later. Hearing the message, Ridge realizes that Rick will always be a part of Brooke's life. But he can't live with that, so this just isn't going to work. Brooke pleads with him to have faith in them, but Ridge thinks the answer is already here. Brooke denies that, so Ridge lays it out for her. To him, Rick will always be the bane of his existence for taking Phoebe away, but to her, Rick is just her son, and nothing can change that. Brooke says their love can change it, but Ridge says that love can't change itself into hate, and that's what he's been asking her to do. He's tried to make her hate Rick the way he does, but he sees now that he can't do that. So until he gets control of his feelings about losing Phoebe, he can't be here. "Please don't tell me this is the end," begs Brooke. Ridge doesn't think they even know what the end is. Embracing her and tenderly kissing her, he bids her goodbye and leaves. Brooke lies down on the sofa and cries while Ridge breaks down outside the house.

Rick tries to comfort his mother.

Rick arrives at his mom's house and finds her crying on the couch. Brooke tells him that Ridge is gone, and she doesn't think he's coming back. Trying to comfort her, Rick tells her that he's so sorry to see her like this. She stood up for him and look where it got her. Brooke says it's not his fault, but Rick thinks it kind of is, so he wants to fix this. He promised Steffy that he'd end his vendetta with Ridge, but he doesn't want that to come at Brooke's expense. He tells Brooke that he wants them both to be happy and promises that things will work out. Brooke says she told Ridge that, but it didn't work. She fears this is beyond her ability to fix, but she thinks there's someone who might be able to.

Stephanie checks on Ridge.
Stephanie finds Ridge at the Forrester guest house, staring thoughtfully out the window. He asks what she's doing there. She tells him she was picking some things up at the main house and the housekeeper told her he was here. Ridge points out that he needed a place to stay. Stephanie asks if she can anything to help, but Ridge says there's nothing anyone can do. He laments that he let Brooke down and walked out on her because he can't have Rick in his life, but he couldn't ask her to reject Rick. Now he's here and he doesn't know what to do next. When Ridge goes into the bedroom, Stephanie calls Taylor and asks her to come over to the guest house.

Ridge finds Taylor's pills in her purse.
Soon after, Taylor arrives. Stephanie tells her that Ridge left Brooke and directs her to the bedroom. Taylor finds Ridge there and asks how he is. He tells her that he did what had to be done, but it wasn't easy. Taylor offers to occupy Stephanie if he wants to be alone. Ridge thanks her, since he's just trying to process all this. Taylor sets her purse on the bed and leaves the room. Ridge spots the bottle of anti-anxiety pills in her purse and pops a couple of pills in his mouth. He paces around the room a bit and then picks up the pill bottle again. Stephanie enters the room just as he takes a few more pills and puts the bottle back in the purse.

Taylor talks with Ridge.
Stephanie tells Ridge that she's going to leave, but Taylor's staying and bringing some tea. She suggests that he talk to Taylor. Ridge praises Taylor for making him feel good at Big Bear and says he can always depend on the Doc. Stephanie says that's because Taylor loves him. Ridge says the feeling's mutual, and that goes for Stephanie, too. Stephanie appreciates that. When Taylor comes in with the tea, Stephanie slips the bottle of pills out of Taylor's purse and leaves. Ridge thanks Taylor for helping him see the light at the end of the tunnel and commends her for finding a way to make him smile. He doesn't think he did that since the last time they got together. Imagine that, Taylor laughs. Ridge looks at Taylor and his vision is all hazy. He strokes her face and tells her that she's so incredibly beautiful.
