Katie tells Nick that it's time to tell Bridget about the baby.
Katie is in an exam room at the hospital when Dr. Patrick pops in. Katie tells him that Dr. Caspary just examined her and the baby is doing well. Dr. Patrick says he spoke to Dr. Caspary, but he still has reservations as Katie's heart doctor about her continuing with the pregnancy because of the dangers involved. She's already showing signs of preeclampsia and elevated blood pressure, so he is worried that she might not survive the pregnancy. Things might be different if she became pregnant a few years from now, but it's just shy of six months since her heart transplant and she's already had one rejection episode. Katie thanks him for his concern but tells him that this pregnancy means everything to her, and she intends to do whatever is best for her baby. Dr. Patrick reluctantly accepts Katie's position and is about to leave when Nick comes in. The doctor asks Nick to please consider the danger to Katie that the pregnancy presents and leaves. Nick asks Katie what that was all about. Katie tells him that the doctor is just doing his job and assures him that everything is fine with the baby. She also reminds him that she is now through her first trimester, which is when they promised they'd tell Bridget about the baby; she asks if he's ready to do that.

Nick agrees to tell Bridget the truth.
Nick agrees that Bridget has to be told, but he doesn't know how she'll react. Katie tells him that love and understanding guided them through this so far, so she has to believe that Bridget will understand and accept this child, especially since Bridget and he might be raising the baby. Nick assures her that she will raise the baby with Bridget and him, but Katie reminds him that something could still happen to her. Nick asks if there's something she's not telling him. She points out that this is not a typical pregnancy, especially since she's on so many drugs because of her heart. She fully intends to give birth to this baby, but she does not know what will happen beyond that. Nick doesn't want to go there, but Katie tells him that they have to. She wants to be there to watch their baby grow up more than anything, but she is being realistic and knows that it might not happen, and the reason she can accept that is because she trusts him and Bridget to be there for the baby if she's not. Nick gets what she is saying and says he will tell Bridget tomorrow.

Felicia, Rick and Taylor learn what Pam did.
Ridge, Brooke and Stephanie call Felicia, Bridget, Rick and Taylor to Eric's office to tell them about Pam's misdeeds. (There's no mention of where Thorne is.) The others are stunned that Pam drugged Eric and tried to kill Donna. Rick asks Bridget if they can bring their dad out of his coma now that they know what caused the heart attack. Bridget answers (probably for Rick and Taylor's benefit, since she has already told the others this) that it doesn't work that way; while the drug caused the heart attack, the heart attack caused the coma and the damage is already done. Felicia refuses to give up hope. Ridge says that none of them are, but he points out that none of this should have happened and admonishes his mom for not telling them that Pam is a loose cannon. Stephanie acknowledges that Pam is mentally ill, but points out that she didn't know Pam was off her meds. "That's no excuse for her to try to kill somebody," Rick argues. Felicia tells Rick to shut up, but Rick is outraged that their father made Pam's life in L.A. possible and was paid back with a coma. Stephanie agrees, but she points out that there is no danger now that the police are watching over both Eric and Donna. Felicia adds that Donna has Owen as well. Stephanie repeats that she's upset over what Pam did, but she thinks they need to show some compassion for Pam's mental illness.

Ridge and Brooke reflect on Pam's tragic misdeeds.
Taylor agrees, stating that Pam deserves the same compassion they'd give any other member of the family. And it was Eric who gave Pam the chance to be a part of that kind of family for the first time in her life, Stephanie adds. Then why did she attack the head of that family? asks Ridge. Taylor speculates that Pam wasn't herself. "Again, that's not an excuse!" cries Rick. Stephanie concedes that point, but she thinks Pam did all this for her. Taylor thinks Stephanie is right and explains that Pam probably thought it was logical to lash out at the two people who wronged the sister she loved more than anything. It was a tragic situation that should have happened, Ridge notes. Stephanie knows that and takes full responsibility, since she should have known her sister was not taking her medication. "I just wasn't aware. I just wasn't," she laments.

Owen reassures Donna.
At the Big Bear cabin, Donna backs away from Owen's kiss and runs outside. She's sorry, but she is still a married woman and loves her husband. Owen says he understands. Donna gets startled by an owl hooting. Owen tells her to relax, as there is nothing to worry about. Animal rescue took care of the bear, and there is a police officer at the end of the driveway in case Pam comes back, although he really doubts she will. Donna asks how he knows. "I'm not gonna let her," Owen vows. "Why do you love me? I've caused you nothing but grief," Donna asks, lamenting how wrong she was about him. Owen assures her that this all will pass soon. Donna compares Owen to Eric in that he makes her feel so secure. She recalls how uncertain her life was until she met Eric, which is why she feels so lost with him in a coma. He always told her to move on if anything happened to him, but she still kept hoping he would come out of the coma. Now she's scared that he might not come out of it. Looking up at all the stars in the sky, Donna feels insignificant. Owen tells her she is significant and is the only star in the sky to him.

Owen tells Donna to let him know when she's ready to leave. She says she's still waiting for something. She feels like the way she looks at him changed after he drove up here to save her, and she thinks that Eric is grateful in spirit as well. Owen assures her that Eric just wants her safe, but Donna wishes she had some kind of sign from Eric. Suddenly, she sees a shooting star and is sure that's the sign she's been waiting for. Owen asks what Eric is saying. She responds that he's saying what he always said: "Life is meant to be lived, to be loved." They then fall into a kiss. Holding Donna, Owen recalls how close he came to losing her. He's just glad Marcus realized that they shared the same love of Donna in time to save her. Donna starts to say that they should head back down the mountain now, but she pauses when she glances at her wedding ring. Sensing something bothering her, Owen tells her to keep hoping that Eric will recover as he gentlemanly kisses her hand.

Stephanie makes a promise to Eric.
Stephanie goes to the hospital to see Eric, who is unconscious again. She laments what she did to him, since he so generously brought her sister to L.A. and was repaid by winding up here. But she thinks he would forgive Pam, since he always said that something good comes out of every situation, no matter how tragic. She admits it's a bit self-serving for her to hope he would forgive Pam, but she really believes something good will come from this. There isn't anything she won't try or won't do to bring him back, whether they are married or not, because she is here for him. "I believe you can come back and I won't rest until you do," she vows. She lays her head down on Eric's chest, so she doesn't see his eyes fluttering slightly as she lies close to him.
