Phoebe confronts her mother and Rick.

A stunned Phoebe asks Taylor what she's doing. Taylor tells Phoebe that she wasn't expecting her until tomorrow, but Phoebe says she got in early, just in time to find her mother seducing Rick! Rick says that's not how it is. Taylor tries to explain, but Phoebe doesn't want to hear it. She accuses her mom of luring her supportive friend Rick here in an attempt to seduce him in this candlelit room, but Rick tells her that he lit the candles. Shocked, Phoebe asks Rick, "What about us?" Rick tells her, "There hasn't been an 'us' in a very long time." He explains that he wanted to tell her before, but then she left unexpectedly, and he couldn't break the news to her by phone or e-mail. Phoebe asks if he wanted to tell her that he was over her. Rick insists that he just wanted to tell her that their time had passed, since they were both moving on with their lives. "With my mother?!" Phoebe sobs, fretting that she thought he was just being supportive. That's how it started, Rick states. Taylor tells Phoebe that they wanted to wait for her to come back so they could explain how she and Rick bonded and became close while he was supporting her. Rick tells Phoebe that he was the one who pushed their relationship to become more than just friends, but the bottom line is that they've fallen in love with each other!

Taylor and Rick try to explain.

Phoebe is horrified. Taylor reaches out to her, but Phoebe tells her to stay away, pointing out that Rick is barely older than Thomas. Rick says age has nothing to do with it, but Phoebe can't believe that given his chasing after first Ashley and then Taylor. "It's wrong!" she states. Taylor says that she thought the same thing at first, but the bond between her and Rick has grown. Phoebe asks Rick what his mom thinks about this. Rick says his mom isn't thrilled, which doesn't surprise Phoebe given Brooke's history with Taylor. Taylor tells Phoebe that this has nothing to do with Brooke. "I never meant to hurt you," she pleads. Rick begs Phoebe to understand, because he wants to marry her mother and needs her blessing. Even more shocked than ever, Phoebe calls her mother pathetic. Rick tells Phoebe not to do the same thing her dad did to them by coming between him and Taylor. He reminds Phoebe that she broke up with him, and he accepted that decision, even though it hurt him. But he moved on, and life led him down a path that was beyond his control, and now he and Taylor have found something special. He begs Phoebe to accept this, but Phoebe says she can't. "Mom, tell him this can't happen!" Phoebe orders.

Rick tells Taylor not to do it, but she turns to him and tells him it's over. While she loves him, she can't hurt her daughter, so their relationship is over. Rick refuses to accept it, but Taylor stands firm and tells him to go. Dejected, Rick leaves as Taylor reaches out to her sobbing daughter and tells her that she's so sorry.

Nick asks Bridget if she has to help Katie now.

Upstairs at the Marone mansion, Nick frets to Bridget that Katie and Donna might hear their lovemaking, but Bridget tells him not to worry. But before they can really get started, Bridget pulls away, since she forgot to put Vitamin E on Katie's scar. Nick suggests that she wait until morning, but being the good doctor that she is, Bridget feels she has to go now. She tells Nick she'll be right back and rushes downstairs.

Donna explains to Katie.

Downstairs, Donna tells Katie how difficult it was for her to give her baby up for adoption. Katie has lots of questions, but Donna tells her, "Please stop judging me." Katie says she's not judging her, but Donna feels like she is and insists that she only did what she thought was best for her baby. She sobs that she wasn't ready to be a mother and wonders if Marcus really could be the child she gave up years ago, especially since she may never see him again. Katie asks if that would be so bad. Before Donna can answer, Bridget comes down to tend to Katie's scar. Katie insists that it could have waited until morning, but Bridget says it will heal better if she puts the vitamin E on tonight and points out that she had to get Jack's bottle anyway. Donna comments about how precious Jack is and asks if she can feed him. Bridget agrees and goes to get Jack's bottle. While Bridget is gone, Donna tells Katie that she can't say anything, since she can't risk Eric's family finding out and using this against her.

Bridget confides in Donna.

Once Bridget gets the bottle, she takes Donna upstairs to feed Jack. Jack fusses a bit, but Donna completes her "mission." Bridget tells Donna to come over any time she wants to feed Jack, although she might want to leave the silk blouse home next time. Donna concedes she's not a pro like Bridget. Donna then sees that Jack is sleepy and suggests that Bridget put him down, but Bridget offers to let Donna do it. As Donna puts Jack down, she asks Bridget if Jack knows who his mother is with all the women around him. Bridget says that Jack will have to sort that out on his own eventually, but the most important thing for him right now is that he's loved.
