Felicia tries to reassure her mother.
Felicia drops by Ridge's office and is surprised to find her mother sitting behind Ridge's desk. Stephanie explains that Ridge is on a call with Manila about some export problems. Felicia asks her mom what brings her by, but Stephanie says she didn't come by to see anyone in particular. Felicia isn't buying that, so Stephanie admits that it she didn't want to be alone at her little beach house, since she's not used to living alone. Felicia asks her mother to come back to work here, but Stephanie doesn't think that's the answer, since she doesn't belong here anymore. Felicia says that's because of Donna, but Stephanie says it's more than that. The company has changed since she and Eric started it, she laments, and all the good times she shared with Eric are in the past. Felicia tells her mother that she'll always have a place here, and it's breaking her heart to see Stephanie so lost. Stephanie tells her to stop, reflecting that the one good thing about living on the beach is that it puts things in perspective. She sees now that she has to slow down and figure out what her purpose in life is now.

Stephanie tells Felicia not to worry.
Felicia tells her mom that she doesn't have to find her purpose on her own. Stephanie thanks her for the concern, but she thinks this is her problem. She always thought she and Eric would grow old together, so she's having a bit of trouble accepting that they won't. Felicia assures her mom that Eric will eventually see Donna as the phony she really is. Stephanie thanks Felicia for sharing that sentiment and for listening but tells her that this, too shall pass. After Felicia leaves, Stephanie is about to leave herself when she spots a photo of her and Eric on Ridge's desk. She kisses her finger and touches Eric's face with it.

Eric accuses Marcus of conning Donna.
At the Forrester mansion, Eric seethes at the news that Marcus is Donna's son. Donna tries to explain how she had Marcus as a teenager and gave him up for adoption, with only her mother, Storm and her Aunt Bonnie knowing about the baby. She never thought she'd see that boy again, but then Marcus found her. Eric explodes, accusing Marcus of trying to scam Donna. Donna tries to tell Eric that she saw Marcus's birth certificate, and it checks out, but Eric refuses to believe this con game. He tells Donna that this is what it's like when you're wealthy, where people see an opportunity to take you for a ride to get money, and he thinks that's exactly what this young man is doing. Marcus insists that's not what he wants, but Eric orders him out of the house now, before Eric calls the police. Donna tells Eric to stop, begging him to accept this as the truth. Eric tells Donna that there are some things a woman tells a man before she marries him, and this is one of him. He sees now that his family was right about her and tells her that their marriage is over.

Donna asks Marcus to stay in town.
Suddenly, Donna snaps out of her daydream and realizes that Eric is still on the phone. Marcus comes over and asks her if she told Eric yet. She tells him that she didn't, because Eric had to take a phone call, but she's starting to wonder if telling Eric the truth is a good idea. She fears that telling him could cost her her marriage. Eric comes over to Donna, apologizing for the interruption; he just learned that Ridge is having problems getting one of their silk shipments to clear Philippine customs and that could impact their holiday line. He then asks Donna what she wanted to tell him about her past. Donna backpedals and says that she was just being insecure, but now that she's had a chance to think about, she was getting worried about nothing. She tells him to go help Ridge with the emergency at work while she finishes up here. After Eric leaves, Marcus asks Donna what changed her mind. She tells him again that the timing is wrong. She wants the world to know that he's her son, but this is just the kind of thing that Eric's children are looking for to make her look bad in his eyes. Marcus says he gets it. She's in the clear if no one knows about him, so it's best that he leave. Donna pleads for him to wait; she tells him that she loves her husband, but she doesn't want to lose Marcus. Marcus tells her that she made her choice, but Donna thinks they can find a way to make this work.

Brooke and Nick are stunned by Bridget's news.
At the Marone mansion, Katie starts to stir after collapsing. She says she's OK, but Bridget tells her to relax and collect herself. Katie supposes that she had a bit too much excitement and thinks she should lie down for a bit. Bridget thinks that's a good idea and helps her aunt upstairs. While Bridget is taking Katie up, Brooke asks Nick if this has happened before. Nick doesn't think so. When Bridget returns, Brooke and Nick hit her up for answers, so Bridget reluctantly admits that Dr. Patrick didn't just stop earlier to wish Katie a happy birthday. She tells her ex- and her mom about what Dr. Patrick said about Katie's latest tests and the signs that Katie is rejecting the heart. "It's not looking good," she laments. Brooke asks how that can be, since Storm was Katie's brother. Bridget explains that there are a lot of variables that go into a transplant. She wishes there was some miracle that could fix this, but Katie's body is failing. Nick asks how long Katie has. A few weeks, Bridget confesses, maybe less. Brooke breaks into tears at the news, sobbing that this can't be happening.

Bridget paints a grim picture of Katie's fate.
Nick asks Bridget why they're not taking Katie to the hospital to fix this. Because there's nothing they can do, Bridget confides, much as she wishes otherwise. "We can't lose her!" Nick cries out. Brooke thinks about how they were just minutes ago celebrating with Katie, thinking about both this birthday and the many more to come. Now they know that there won't be other birthdays. How do they tell Katie that she may not have a future? Bridget doesn't know how to tell her, but she knows that Katie must be told. Nick disagrees, suggesting that not telling Katie the whole truth might build up a desire within her to fight. Bridget wishes that was the case, but she can't change the medical facts.

Katie realizes what's going on.
Katie comes down and asks what kind of facts they're talking about. Brooke, Nick and Bridget all try to cover, but Katie isn't buying. When the others all go silent on her, Katie asks what's wrong. Bridget suggests that Katie go back up and rest like she said she was going to, but Katie senses something's wrong and wants to know what's going on. When both Brooke and Bridget tries to change the subject, Katie gets suspicious that there has to be something bad they're trying to keep from her and wonders if Dr. Patrick's brief visit had something to do with it. She starts to put the pieces together in her mind and realizes that the anti-rejection drugs aren't working, and that's why she feels so lousy. Bridget tries to calm Katie down, but Katie thinks she sees where this is going and begs them to tell her what's going on. When no one says anything, Katie asks Bridget the question that she's sure is on all of their minds right now: "Am I going to die?"
