Beth opens up to Taylor.
Beth begins therapy with Taylor and talks about her initial reluctance to return to L.A. after Storm's death and Katie's transplant. She explains that she felt so emotionally paralyzed that she thought she had nothing to offer her family. Taylor asks Beth why she didn't trust in her family's obvious devotion to her. Beth initially answers that she doesn't remember how she felt, but she then admits that she felt like the woman she used to be was a suit of clothes that she took off and couldn't find, so she didn't see the point in living. Taylor asks Beth if that was when she realized she might be experiencing depression. Beth confesses that she never thought she was depressed. At first, she thought her memory problem stemmed from her strokes, but then they told her that wasn't the case. Still, the thought of her problems being caused by depression never crossed her mind. She recalls how she felt like she was losing her connections to her family and friends, and that was horrifying. "You still sound very fearful," Taylor observes. Beth says that she is. It was easier in Paris since she was alone, so she was able to lock herself away in her own little world and convince herself that no one needed her. She thought that her children had each other and would be fine, making it easier to stay where she was and just quietly disappear.

Taylor gives Beth some advice.
Taylor explains that depression and dementia share many of the same symptoms, but they have treatments that can help, so there's a lot of hope. Beth admits that the medication and the therapy are helping her feel like her old self, as is being around her family. Still, she has always been self-reliant, so it's hard to be dependant on others. Taylor advises Beth to be careful of fear, since that can drive her further into a downward spiral. Beth tells Taylor that staying with Brooke and being around her grandchildren are bringing joy to her life, but she fears it might not last. Still, she has tried to change her attitude, and she switches to an Asian accent as she says that she wants to "live for today." Taylor thinks Beth is already doing that by being around her loved ones, and that's helping Beth keep the positive attitude that will help her get better. Taylor then admits that she understands how Beth feels, since her life has hardly been a fairy tale, and Beth's older daughter can attest to that. She tells a surprised Beth that one in ten people have depression, and trying to hide it can drive them to do things they normally wouldn't. Beth still can't understand how she came to be depressed after conquering so much in life. There are different kinds of depression, Taylor explains, but they're caused by stressors that can rip apart your soul. That's why she enjoys her job as a therapist, since it lets her give her patients another soul to reach out to and help them find some healing.

Storm reaches out to Katie...
As Katie stands shocked on board the Shady Marlin, Storm comes out of the water and reaches his hand out to her. He asks if he ever failed her when she needed him. Katie asks why he's here. To save her, Storm explains, since no one will want to look at her once they realize how she got pregnant. He doesn't think she wants to live her life that way and invites her in for a swim. He dives back underwater as Katie comes to the railing. Storm pops up again and reminds Katie that he promised that they'd always be together. Katie is still unsure, so Storm tells her that she has no one else but him and then dives back under.
...but when she joins him underwater, he looks like a demon.
After a few seconds, Katie jumps into the water, but she starts to pant as she feels the cold water and the pull of the current. Storm tells her to take his hand so he can help. As Katie tries to reach out, Storm tells her that it's just like being born, and he asks if she really wants to give birth to a child with all the struggle and ugliness in the world. He tells her that he's glad he doesn't have to see that anymore and dives back under. "Take me with you!" Katie calls out as she goes underwater to find her brother. She swims around looking for him, but when she finally catches up to him, he looks like a demon! Frightened, Katie swims away toward the surface, but after she breaks the water's surface, Demon-Storm tries to pull her back under.

Nick doesn't know what to say to Bridget.
Below deck on the Marlin, Nick continues to talk to Bridget, who tells him to forget about checking up on Katie, since she feels confident that everything is OK. Nick asks why she initially wanted him to check, so she tries to explain about the vibe she got when she saw Katie at the hospital earlier. She doesn't know how to explain it, since the doctors confirmed that Katie is fine physically, but something about Katie's attitude scared her. Nick tells her that they can talk more about it when he gets home. Bridget then tells Nick about her idea for Katie to be Jack's Godmother and asks if he thinks Taylor would consider it, since she thinks that would give Katie the lifeline she sorely needs. Nick, however, doesn't know what to say and stays silent.
Bridget confides in her mom about Katie.
As Bridget ends the call, Brooke comes down after putting Jack down and asks what Nick thought about Katie being the Godmother. Bridget tells her that Nick didn't answer, which she found odd, although she concedes that it's really Nick and Taylor's decision, anyway. Brooke thinks Bridget is just trying to be nice, but Bridget says that she was reminded of herself when she saw Katie earlier. She recalls how she felt when she lost Nicole, and she felt that same coldness from Katie. "I couldn't cry or do anything," she remembers. Brooke remembers as well.
Brooke asks Bridget about Eric.
Bridget then takes out a book she bought back then that helped her cope called "Dark Night Of The Soul." As she shows her mom the book, she explains that it was written by a Spanish priest who was imprisoned thousands of years ago and learned to find the light in the darkness. Intrigued by the book's message, Brooke starts to read it aloud, focusing on a passage that talks about how the soul can be devoured by the darkness. Closing the book, Brooke asks how long it will be before the hospital wants Donna to make a decision about Eric. Bridget doesn't know how long, but she doesn't want to put that decision on Donna after everything she's been through. Brooke asks Bridget if she can talk to Ridge, since he has a lot of questions about Eric. Of course, Bridget replies. Brooke then asks Bridget to tell Nick that she was wondering when Jack would be christened, since she thinks that will help renew their faith and bring them all closer together.

Katie makes a promise to Nick.
In the bay by the Marina, Katie calls out for help as Demon-Storm tries to pull her under. "No! Let me live!" she cries out - but then she opens her eyes and is still on the deck of the Marlin. The whole thing with Storm was all in her mind. Panicked, Katie turns around and finds Nick standing there. "Life is a miracle. Our child's a miracle," she sighs as she falls into Nick's arms. Nick asks if she's OK. She says she is and thanks him for the blessings that rain down on her and for everything he's given her. As Nick looks at her, Katie vows that their day on Catalina will always be theirs, right or wrong, and she promises to nurture the baby inside her and to love life and that child as long as she's still breathing. "We'll get through this somehow," Nick assures. "Yes, we will," Katie agrees.
