Nick worries about Katie's risky pregnancy.
At the hospital, Katie tells Nick that their baby will be fine, but Nick worries that having the baby might be fatal for her, and he won't let that happen. Katie insists nothing will happen to her, but Nick reminds her how risky it is for her get pregnant so soon after a heart transplant. Katie argues that she wasn't even supposed to live, so she has to believe that this child is a miracle and refuses to accept that God would let her get pregnant just to have it end. She asks Nick to have faith and accept that she doesn't want to terminate this pregnancy.

Katie begs Nick not to ask her to give up their child.
Nick tells Katie that he doesn't want her to terminate, either, but he can't help thinking about the possibility that something could happen to her. Katie tells him that he and Bridget will raise the child if anything happens to her, since she knows Bridget would never turn her back on an innocent baby. Nick tells Katie to stop talking like she's going to die. Katie tells him that she doesn't want to die, especially now that this child - HIS child - has given her more reason than ever to live. She asks him to understand that this baby might be the only part of him that she ever has, and she won't give that up. Nick reluctantly agrees to go along with her decision to proceed with the pregnancy for now, although that might change if there are any complications. If there are, Katie says, she'll at least know that she has his love and support, and that's enough for her right now.

Stephanie comforts Rick.
Stephanie enters Eric's hospital room and finds Rick sitting by the bedside. As Stephanie puts her hand on his shoulder, Rick tells her that Bridget filled him in on what's going on. Stephanie tells him that this is all her fault, since she should have trusted her instincts and fought Eric's marriage to Donna rather than give in so easily. Rick reminds her that it was Owen, not Donna, who put Eric in this condition, but Stephanie is convinced that Owen did not act alone. Rick asks Stephanie why someone would do this to his dad, who never hurt anyone. Stephanie agrees that Eric was a good man who did not deserve this. Rick says that he has to get back to work, so Stephanie agrees to stay with Eric. Once Rick leaves, Stephanie sits by Eric's bedside and tells him that she's sorry for letting this happen to him. She vows to find the people whop did this to him and make them pay for what they did.

Pam learns that Eric was drugged.
Later, Pam drops by and is shocked to hear from her sister that Eric was drugged. Pam is sure that the "Hot Tamale" is behind this and asks Stephanie if Donna has been arrested. Stephanie explains how Donna's assistant Owen confessed to the crime and was arrested. Pam asks why Owen would do that. Noting how the police found the potassium chloride upstairs in Donna's lingerie drawer, Stephanie suggests that Owen and Donna conspired to induce Eric's heart attack. When Pam thinks Stephanie is onto something, La Forrester asks her sister if she saw anything. Pam says she has, so Stephanie says that they have to get Owen to admit that Donna is involved with him. Pam asks how they can do that. Stephanie isn't sure, but she intends to find out. Pam tells her sister not to let Donna and Owen weasel out of this. Stephanie boasts that she has no intention of letting them get away with this. After Pam leaves, Stephanie sits alone by Eric's bedside and promises not to let him down.

Detective Charlie has questions for his pop.
At the police station, Lt. Baker is preparing to eat a hot dog for lunch when son Charlie comes in with a salad. The younger Baker asks his pop why he's reading the report again when they have the case locked up thanks to Owen's confession. He thinks his father is letting his hot dog for lunch get to his brain and wishes they had more perps like Owen making their job easy. Lt. Baker tells his son that he still has some questions about the case. He doesn't get why Owen would frame Donna and then confess himself if his plan was to off Eric and then claim Mrs. Forrester for himself. It just doesn't add up. Charlie admits he's still figuring that part out. Lt. Baker adds that Owen, as a paralegal, knew they had no evidence against him, so Owen's urge to confess also makes no sense unless it's meant to cover up something else.

Donna refuses to believe that Owen is innocent.
Meanwhile, in the visitor's room, Donna still refuses to believe Owen's claim that he confessed to protect her. She tells him she hates him and vows to see him behind bars. Owen insists he is innocent and asks Donna why he would confess if his intent was to set her up. Donna suggests he is trying to cut a deal by confessing and beats herself up for bringing him into their lives. Owen asks her to stop and consider one thing: if what he's saying is true, then the real killer is still out there, which means she is in danger of being targeted by that person. Donna tells Owen to stop trying to scare her. Owen says he wants to scare her, because he wants her to see just how much her life is in jeopardy with him locked up in here and unable to protect her. He tells Donna that he is in fact scared himself, because he has never been to jail, but he figured it would be better for him to be the one behind bars instead of her. He suggests that she turn to Marcus or Brooke for help, since the person who put the pills in her bedroom might come back to finish the job. Donna accuses him of trying to confuse her, but he asks why he would plant the pills and then confess. It means he is either lying or crazy, Donna counters, or maybe both. Owen suggests there might be one more possibility and tells her, "I love you, Donna."

Owen warns Donna.
As Owen professes his love in more detail, a confused Donna begs him to stop. Owen tells her that he's not asking her to feel the same way about him, since he knows she doesn't. Donna asks why he'd sacrifice himself for a married woman who loves her husband dearly. Owen admits it was foolish, but he felt like he had no choice when he saw the police about to arrest her. He then reminds Donna of the day they found her bedroom ransacked and asks her to think long and hard about all the facts that are in front of her. Suddenly, Donna starts to believe what Owen is saying. Owen asks her to promise not to let her guard down. "You shouldn't be here if you're here because of me," Donna states, but Owen tells her not to dwell on that now. The only thing he wants her to think about now is that she should not leave here alone, since whoever did this to her is probably still out there, so he begs her to call whoever she must to make sure she doesn't leave this police station alone. A guard comes to take Owen back to his cell; as the guard leads him away, Owen calls out a warning to Donna to be careful.
