Katie tells her doctor that Nick is her baby's father.
Katie has an appointment with OB/GYN Dr. Caspary at the hospital. Before they begin, Katie asks the doctor to confirm that everything that happens in this office is confidential, since her niece Bridget works in the building and likely knows some of the doctor's staff. Once Dr. Caspary assures her that privacy is not an issue, Katie opens the exam room door and ushers in a ball-cap and sunglasses-wearing Nick, who she introduces as her baby's father. Dr. Caspary is obviously surprised but takes it in stride as Nick and Katie explain that they don't want to tell Bridget until they know the baby will make it past the first trimester. The doctor then proceeds to listen to the fetal heartbeat and is pleased to hear a good, strong beat. Nick and Katie marvel at hearing their baby's heartbeat. The doctor then checks Katie's lab work and confirms that everything looks good there too. Dr. C. then explains that she's been conferring with Katie's transplant surgeon Dr. Patrick, who asked her to give Katie a pamphlet on high-risk pregnancies to read since carrying this child to term could jeopardize Katie's health. The doctor leaves so the parents can look over the pamphlet. Alone, Nick and Katie discuss what to do. Nick shares Dr. Patrick's concerns about Katie's health, but Katie argues that she's found research that shows that transplant patients can have healthy children. Nick sees her point, but he fears that it's too soon after Katie's surgery. "This could not only be high risk for the baby. It could be dangerous for you, too," he cautions as they share an emotional embrace.

Bridget and Brooke defend Donna.
At the Forrester mansion, Owen tells the fabulous Baker boys that he tried to kill Eric, not Donna. Ridge and Thorne attack Owen, but the Bakers pull them away. With everyone in the room, including Donna, furious at Owen, Lt. Baker and Detective Baker cart him off to the station. Donna calls her parents to fill them in, and Stephen says he and Beth will be right over. Overhearing Donna's call, Felicia fumes at the thought of more Logans on the way, launching a tirade that finds Brooke, Bridget and Marcus defending Donna against the accusations of Stephanie and her children. Stephanie charges that Donna brought Owen into their lives and bets that Owen probably did this for Donna. Brooke tells Stephanie not to go there, but Stephanie argues that all Eric's bad decisions started after Donna entered his life. Stephanie asks Donna if Owen is her lover. Donna insists that she's 100% committed to Eric and points out that she's the one who insisted on keeping Eric on the ventilator. Why would she do that if she wanted him dead? Felicia points out that Donna holds Eric's power of attorney and controls all his assets as long as he's alive, but she'd have to share the fortune with the family if he dies. As Brooke and Marcus insist that Donna does not want Eric to die, Beth and Stephen arrive. Donna, Bridget, Brooke and Marcus quickly bring Stephen and Beth up to speed on the day's events, including Owen's arrest and Stephanie's accusations about Donna. Stephen tells Stephanie to lay off his daughter, who is so fed up by all this that she storms out!

Lt. Baker looks for answers.
At the police station, the Bakers bring a handcuffed Owen into an interrogation room. Owen tells then that they don't need to ask him anything as he'll gladly give them his written statement confessing to the crime. Lt. Baker however has some questions, since he knows Owen was a paralegal. And a legal investigator, Owen adds. Then he knows there was no evidence to tie him to the crime, Lt. Baker points out, yet he confessed anyway once he saw they were about to arrest Donna. That makes him wonder about Owen's relationship with the new Mrs. Forrester. The lieutenant then asks Owen where he got the potassium chloride. Owen says it will all be in his statement, but Lt. Baker says he's an old school cop who likes to hear the emotion behind his suspect's motive, so Owen offers up one of the most old-school motives of all: greed. He came to L.A. and saw that Eric was a powerful man with a beautiful and devoted wife, but he knew he didn't stand a chance with Donna while Eric was alive. But once Eric was dead, he could make his move and comfort the grieving widow. It was that simple.

While Ridge looks on, Stephen and Beth defend their daughter.
Back at the mansion, Beth starts to run after Donna, but Marcus says he'll go, since he fears he might hurt someone if he has to listen to any more of the Forresters' garbage. A suspicious Stephanie suggests someone go with Marcus to make sure he doesn't leave the property, but Bridget points out that Marcus was the one who asked her to test Eric's blood in the first place. Maybe Owen threatened to expose Marcus and Donna, Felicia speculates, or maybe he was using his knowledge as a paralegal to build a case for reasonable doubt. Stephen tells the Forresters to forget about their conspiracy theories since Owen confessed that he had done the deed on his own.

Marcus fills a shocked Steffy in.
Marcus goes outside just as Steffy arrives. She asks what's going on with all the cars. Marcus observes that the one car he was looking for, his mom's, is gone. Steffy asks where Donna went, so Marcus tells her what happened with Owen and explains that his mom took off to get away from Steffy's family and their accusations. Steffy asks why Owen would want to drug her grand-dad. Marcus fills her in on how he came to be suspicious of Owen and asked Bridget to test Eric's blood. That's what's had him so preoccupied lately, he explains, but he feels a little better knowing that Owen is in jail where he belongs.

Thorne, Felicia and Stephanie want answers.
Inside, Brooke scolds the Forresters for attacking Donna when the man who put Eric in a coma confessed. Beth agrees that the Forresters should be grateful that the culprit is in custody. Ridge suggests that they get Owen to confess just how much potassium he gave Eric. Felicia and Stephanie agree, hoping they can reverse the effects, but Bridget explains that there's no point. The potassium only caused the heart attack, she states, but it was oxygen deprivation after the heart attack that put Eric in the coma. It will help her dad's doctors to know how the heart attack happened, but it will still take a lot for him to pull back from his coma.

Donna confronts Owen.
Donna shows up at the police station to see Owen. She attacks him for pretending to be her friend, but he tells her to leave before the police think she's involved. Donna asks Owen why he did it. Owen tells her to ask to read his statement, but Donna wants to hear from his own mouth how he could do this to Eric and set her up, especially after the way she defended him. Owen insists that he didn't set her up. Donna asks how he can keep lying like this, but Owen says that he's not lying. He really had nothing to do with Eric's heart attack, he claims. Donna asks if he's trying to sound innocent for the police's benefit, but Owen says that he wants the cops to think he did it. Donna asks why she should believe him. "Because you know I couldn't do this," he states.

Owen tells Donna what he did.
Donna asks why he said he did if it's not true, so Owen insists that he was just trying to protect her. If he hadn't said anything, the police would have arrested her and the Forresters would be all over her, and he couldn't let that happen. That's why he confessed, even though he would never hurt Eric. The more important thing, he points out, is that whoever tried to kill Eric is still out there. As the camera pans to faces of various members of the cast - Beth, Stephen, Marcus, Jackie, Ridge, Brooke, Pam and Stephanie - Owen asks Donna who could do something so terrible. The camera then shifts as a central image of a comatose Eric is surrounded by the other faces plus Felicia, Donna and Owen, as Owen asks, "Who would want to see Eric Forrester dead?"
