Storm and Ashley check on a wounded Katie.

Katie lies on the ground after getting shot. As Storm rushes to his gravely wounded sister's side. Ashley calls 911 to her home (she gives her address as 421 Chautauqua Drive). Ashley urges the paramedics to hurry while Storm hovers over Katie, apologizing and urging her to hang on. "Why did I bring that gun?" he cries. Seeing how much blood there is on Katie's chest, Storm calls for Ashley to bring a towel and tells a barely conscious Katie to keep breathing.

Storm stays by Katie's side on the ambulance.

Ashley throws on a robe while they wait for the paramedics, who arrive soon after. Storm frantically urges the paramedics to hurry up as they check out his kid sister. Storm goes along on the ambulance as the paramedics rush Katie to the hospital. Storm sits by Katie's side, trying to reassure her. Her eyes flutter open for a brief moment but then close again. Storm tells her to keep fighting as the ambulance speeds to the hospital.

Bridget wonders about Nick's attiude toward Storm.

Nick stands in his living room, deep in thought, when Bridget drops by. Bridget notices that he's not himself and asks what's wrong, but Nick doesn't really answer. Bridget asks where Katie is; when Nick tells her that Katie went to talk to Ashley, Bridget's pleased to get some alone-time with her ex-husband and gives him a kiss before sitting down on the couch. Bridget notes how sweet it is that Katie's playing matchmaker for her big brother, but Nick thinks Storm might not be such a good match for Ashley. Bridget asks what he has against Storm, since she thinks Storm and Ashley would be great together. Before Nick can answer, Bridget gets a call from the hospital with the news that Katie has been shot and is on her way in. She and Nick rush to the hospital.

Ridge rushes over to Ashley's.

Meanwhile, Ashley calls Ridge to her beach house. He arrives as she waits for the police to arrive. She quickly fills him in on what happened. Ridge is furious to learn that Storm just let himself in. Ashley admits she was frightened as Storm confessed to her that he shot Stephanie and then confronted her about the fact that she already knew. Still, she thinks it was clear that Storm was trying to show her that he wasn't dangerous. "By pulling out a loaded gun?" Ridge asks. "He didn't mean for it to happen," Ashley sobs, but Ridge doesn't care that it was an accident. He thinks it's Storm is held accountable for his actions!

The ambulance arrives at the hospital. Storm stays by Katie's side as he pleads for the nurses to help his sister, but he's told to stay in the waiting area as they rush Katie into surgery. Nick and Bridget arrive, and Bridget asks Storm what happened. Storm weeps that it was just an accident when the gun went off, and... Bridget stops him and asks what he means. "I shot Katie. I shot my baby sister," he sobs.

Donna learns that Storm is seeing Ashley.

In Eric's office, Brooke tells Donna that Storm is seeing Ashley. Donna is glad that their brother is dating, but her mood turns sour when Brooke tells her that Ridge ordered Storm to stay away from his precious Ashley because he thinks that Storm is still dangerous. Donna is annoyed that Ridge is making Storm out to be crazy and wishes Ridge could see how loving and protective Storm has always been to them. Brooke just hopes Ashley sees the goodness in Storm, since she's sure Storm would never hurt anybody every again. The sisters agree that Storm and Ashley would be good for each other. Brooke then gets a call her cell phone from Bridget, who tells her that Katie has been shot. Bridget urges her mom to come right away. Brooke says that she and Donna will be right over. Bridget then tells Storm that Brooke and Donna are on the way. Storm asks if she told them what happened. Bridget says she didn't, since she wanted to get some answers from him first. Right now, though, she wants to go check on Katie. After Bridget runs off, Nick warns Storm that he had better pray that Katie is alright. Nick demands to know what happened. Storm insists it was an accident. "Like it was an accident that you shot Stephanie and pinned it on your old man?" Nick asks. Storm asks Nick how he knows, but Nick doesn't think that matters. He just wants to know how Storm's talking with Ashley led to his shooting Katie.

Dr. Brauer has bad news for the Logans.

Bridget goes into the operating room, where Dr. Brauer operates on Katie. As Dr. Brauer outlines the best-case scenario, Bridget asks to hear the worst case scenario. Dr. Brauer hesitates, since she knows Bridget is related to Katie, but Bridget demands to know. The surgeon says she won't know until they go in deeper. Out in the waiting area, Brooke and Donna arrive and ask Storm what's going on. Storm tells them that Katie is in surgery, and Bridget went in to check on her. Donna asks how Katie got shot. Storm says it was an accident, but Nick orders him to tell his sisters everything, so Storm tells them the whole story. Brooke and Donna are both horrified to learn that Storm brought a gun to Ashley's. Donna especially wonders what he was thinking given that Ashley has a young daughter living with her. Storm explains that he only brought the gun to make Ashley understand what happened when he shot Stephanie. He didn't even know the gun was loaded. Then Katie arrived and panicked when she saw a gun in his hand. Katie tried to pull the gun away, and it went off. Before Brooke or Donna can say anything more, Bridget comes out and tells them that the surgeon wants to talk to the family, so she leads them to see Katie. Dr. Brauer then explains, using big medical terms, that Katie suffered severe heart damage that can't be repaired. Bridget adds that that Katie's only being kept alive by a heart pump. As Brooke, Donna and Storm digest what they've been told, Dr. Brauer gives them some time with their sister and leaves Bridget to answer any questions.
