Ridge tells Brooke how he ended things with Ashley.
Ridge returns to Brooke's after breaking up with Ashley, feeling guilty about hurting Ashley that way. Brooke agrees that it must have been hard, especially when Ridge laments about all the promises he made to Ashley and Abby, but she asks him if he has any regrets. When he says he doesn't, she thinks that proves he made the right choice for everyone. She knows what's like to question yourself when you end a relationship and to make mistakes in the process, but at least they had the chance to fix their mistakes. As sorry she is for Ashley, she's happy for herself and Ridge. It may have taken a long time for them to get together, but it's finally happening for them.

Nick asks a favor of Brooke.
While Ridge goes upstairs to check on R.J., Nick drops by to talk. Brooke tells him she has news herself and informs him that she and Ridge and back together, this time for good. Nick asks if that's what she wants after all that's happened. Brooke whispers that Ridge understands about the lab mix-up, even though it's been hard for all them. Nick changes the subject to his son. Brooke asks how the baby is. Nick explains that the baby has developed an immune system, although he'll have to stay in isolation until they know for sure if the bone marrow transfusion took. So things look good so far, Brooke guesses. They do, Nick replies, but there's one more thing he needs to ask. He explains that he and Taylor had decided to bank some of the baby's cord blood when he was born, for future use, but after the baby's bout with SCIDS, they think having Brooke's blood would be better. And since he and Taylor don't want to have to come back to Brooke given what's happened, Nick's hoping Brooke will agree to bank some of her own blood. Brooke says she will, so Nick thanks her on behalf of Jack. When Brooke asks about the name, Nick explains that they named the child Jack Hamilton Marone, after Taylor's father. Brooke asks Nick if that was his idea, and he says it was.

Brooke assures Nick that she won't be a factor in his baby's life.
Brooke asks how Taylor is coping. Nick says his wife still has concerns, which is why he thinks it would be a good idea for Brooke to sign the same agreement the egg donor signed, giving up her parental rights to the child. Brooke says she will; she admits that the child will always be special to her, but she thinks Jack belongs with Nick and Taylor. She guesses that Nick needs her to do that because Taylor can't get past all their history and tells Nick that she's sorry. Nick tells her not to be sorry over a mistake, even though he realizes Taylor never expected Brooke to be a factor in her family anymore. "I won't be," Brooke assures him; even if she is the baby's biological mother, that only connects her to the baby and not Nick. Still, Nick points out, that child has parts of both of them. Just then, Ridge comes downstairs and is not pleased to see Nick here. "Is this your house?" Nick asks. Ridge tells Nick that he and Brooke are back together and are moving on, so he suggests that Nick do the same and stay away from Brooke. Nick recognizes that his cue to leave, so Ridge shows Nick the door.

Brooke tells Ridge to relax, since Nick just came over to ask for something for the baby. Ridge asks if Nick knew he was here; Brooke tells him that she told Nick and informs him that Nick just came by to ask her to bank some blood for baby Jack. Ridge suggests Nick let the doctors make requests like that, since he thinks it best that Nick and Taylor stay the hell out of medical matters. Brooke tells him that like him, Taylor appears to be having troubles with the situation. She doesn't blame them, since the situation is complicated, but she asks Ridge not to let this ruin their first night back together. "The only ties that I have are to you and to our family," she assures him.

Bridget is stunned by Taylor's insinuations.
When Bridget comes by Taylor's room with Taylor's discharge papers, the two women chat about how the baby is doing. As she considers the whole situation around having her baby, Taylor tells Bridget that she chose to have her IVF procedure at this hospital because she felt comfortable with Bridget, back to when Bridget broke the news to her that she was infertile. Bridget says she did it because she knew how much Nick and Taylor wanted a child, but Taylor wonders if Bridget has some other motive. She can't help but wonder when the person who implanted the egg in her was her rival's daughter. Bridget can't believe that Taylor is insinuating that she would do this intentionally and tells Taylor how much she's agonized over keeping the news of a possible mix-up to herself, especially when everyone in the hospital told her that a mistake like that couldn't happen. "It's your child, Taylor. It was just my mother's egg," Bridget assures. Taylor finds little comfort in that and demands to know why this happened. Bridget explains that she's still not sure, since she didn't know until a tech told her about the mistake after the egg was implanted. She wanted to find out the truth, but Dr. Caron didn't want to worry Taylor. "Dr. Caron wasn't my doctor! You were my friend!" Taylor fumes, recalling how she chose Bridget to be the baby's godmother.

Taylor worries that there will always be part of Brooke in her baby.
Bridget tells Taylor that she wasn't sure how the egg donor was, which is why she planned to do some tests once the baby was born. She insists she would never have kept the truth from Taylor once she knew, although now she wonders if Taylor would have been better off not knowing. She says she's sorry, but Taylor tells her not to be sorry for something she's not responsible for. Bridget points out that this was a clerical error, but Taylor doesn't think it's a clerical error when the person who implanted Brooke Logan's egg in her was Brooke's own daughter and Nick's ex! "Do you think I wanted this to happen to you, or to my mother?" Bridget asks, suggesting that Taylor file a suit if she thinks she's been wronged. Taylor points out that would mean the end of Bridget's career. Bridget points out that she became a doctor because she admired the way Taylor treated her patients, as she wanted to help people, too. But now she's hardly helped anyone, so maybe it's better that she doesn't practice. She sobs that she understands what Taylor is going through, since she saw all the plans she and Nick made for Nicole dashed when they lost their child. But unlike her, Taylor still has Jack, so Taylor's plans haven't gone up in smoke. "Don't hold back," Bridget pleads, assuring Taylor that Brooke will give up her parental rights to the baby. But that won't erase that the baby is a part of Brooke inside, Taylor weeps, guessing that Jack will eventually be drawn to his biological mother. "You and Nick are Jack's parents," Bridget states, confident that the bond will show Jack who his mother is.

Nick and Taylor look in on their baby.
Soon after, Nick arrives, and he and Taylor go to look at their baby in the nursery. Taylor frets that the baby will always have Brooke's D.N.A., even if Brooke waives her parental rights. Nick tells her that Jack is THEIR child, named after THEIR parents, and he will grow up in THEIR home once he can leave the hospital. Taylor frets about going home while the baby is still here, but Nick tells her that they can come see the baby every day. Taylor asks if he sees Brooke when he looks into the baby's eyes. "When I look in that boy's eyes," Nick replies, "I see the same thing I see when I look into your eyes. I see my future and my family." He assures her, "Jack Hamilton Marone is our little boy." "He's our baby," Taylor agrees.
