Dr. Caron gives Bridget a warning.
In Bridget's office, Nick and Taylor anxiously wait to hear what Bridget has to say. Bridget starts to tell them that she made a mistake, but before she can elaborate, Dr. Caron comes in and asks to see Bridget again. Nick says they're busy, but Dr. Caron insists that this can't wait, so Bridget excuses herself. In an exam room, Dr. Caron scolds Bridget for what she was about to do. Bridget reminds Dr. Caron that a mistake was made, but Dr. Caron cautions that they don't know for sure, no matter what the lab techs said. Bridget admits that even she isn't sure which eggs they used. Dr. Caron asserts that it would be irresponsible for Bridget to tell the Marones anything if she isn't sure herself, and she wonders if Bridget is trying to undermine her ex-husband Nick's happiness by telling him about the confusion around the implanted eggs. Bridget insists that she wants this child for Nick and Taylor. Then do the right thing and stay silent, Dr. Caron declares, since even thinking that the wrong eggs were implanted could cause Taylor to miscarry, and it could also mean the end of the hospital's in-vitro program. She accepts that there were inconsistencies and promises Bridget that they will investigate, but she thinks Bridget should trust her instincts and training, which would have alerted her if there was a reason to halt the procedure.

Nick wonders what kind of mistake Bridget could have made.
Back in Bridget's office, Nick frantically wonders what Bridget meant when she said she made a mistake. Before Taylor can answer, she gets a call with Stephanie, who wants to meet. Annoyed at her former mother in law's insistence that they meet right away, Taylor agrees to meet Stephanie. As Taylor hangs up, Nick asks what that was about. "It's a professional matter," Taylor explains, changing the subject back to Bridget. She suggests to Nick that Bridget might open up without him here and asks if she can talk to Bridget alone. Nick is reluctant, since his child is involved, but Taylor promises to fill him in later. Bridget returns, so Nick excuses himself and leaves. Bridget asks Taylor if Nick's abrupt exit means he's annoyed with her. Taylor explains that she asked Nick to leave so they can talk alone. She admits that she's annoyed with herself for making a big mistake by allowing Bridget to be her doctor without considering how hard it was when Bridget lost Nicole, since she thinks the doubts Bridget felt after Nicole died are similar to her own fears since undergoing the in-vitro process. Bridget admits that they are interconnected, so she would feel responsible if anything happened to Taylor's pregnancy. Taylor thinks she can fix that by finding another doctor, but Bridget would like to see this through as long as Taylor and Nick can put up with her. Taylor declares that she's glad Bridget feels that way.

Dr. Mills, the hospital Chief of Staff, lays down the law.
After Taylor leaves, Dr. Caron returns and asks Bridget how it went with the Marones. Bridget states that she and Taylor cleared the air about some things, and she admits that Dr. Caron was right that she should trust her instincts that nothing went wrong during the implantation. Dr. Caron is glad to hear that and asks Bridget to come with her. She takes Bridget to an office where Dr. Mills, the hospital Chief of Staff, waits with the head of the hospital's legal staff. Dr. Mills praises Bridget for all her hard work at the hospital, but he attests that he has some concerns about the case Bridget is working on in the fertility clinic. Bridget says that matter is on its way to being resolved, but Dr. Mills states that it's already resolved. He explains that he investigated the case himself, personally going over all the records, so he is confident that the right eggs were implanted. Bridget asks if the records could be wrong, but Dr. Mills thinks that's just her second guessing herself as a new doctor. He assures her that the kind of error she suspects could not happen at this hospital, so they have no reason to concern Mr. or Mrs, Marone with such doubts.

Ridge meets his new lawyer, Y&R's Christine Blair.
At the jailhouse, Brooke and Stephanie try to assure Ridge that he might not have to serve any jail team, but Ridge is skeptical. Right on cue, Ridge's new lawyer, Christine Blair, arrives. Stephanie introduces Ridge and Brooke to Ms. Blair, who she hired because of Chris's outstanding national reputation. Brooke is concerned that Christine doesn't practice in California, but the legal eagle points out that she got her multi-state accreditation working for Newman Enterprises years ago. Chris asks Ridge if they can talk alone, but Ridge asks if his mother and Brooke can stay. Chris allows the ladies to stay as she quizzes Ridge about Shane's death. Ridge explains that he plead guilty to obstruction of justice, but not to murder. Chris suggests that the D.A. thinks a murder charge will hold up in court based on Ridge's past conviction. For a crime he didn't commit, Brooke states. Christine is confused, since she thought Ridge confessed to shooting Grant Chambers. Ridge admits he confessed, but Stephanie explains that he only did so because of Brooke.

Stephanie tells Christine about Grant Chambers.
Once Brooke and Stephanie explain how Ridge only confessed to shooting Grant to protect the real shooter, Brooke's son Rick, Christine thinks they might be able to use that. Stephanie explains that there were no witnesses to Grant's shooting, but Ridge's ex-wife Taylor is a psychiatrist who has agreed to work with Rick and try and help him to remember the incident. Speaking of psychiatrists, Chris asks if Shane was seeing one, in the hopes of showing Shane was suicidal. No one is quite sure. Chris then asks where Shane was living. When Ridge says Shane lived in his car, Chris suggests finding it to see if Shane left any suicide notes. Finally, Christine asks Ridge if he killed Shane; she's glad to be on the same page as Ridge when he answers that he didn't kill Shane.

Taylor refuses to be rushed.
Next, Christine goes with Stephanie and Brooke to meet Taylor, who says she never got any hint that Shane might be suicidal. Chris doesn't know if it's worth pursuing this angle without proof that Shane wanted to kill himself, which means Ridge's best hope is to show the jury that Ridge was wrongly convicted of shooting Grant and use that to explain Ridge's mental state when he dumped Shane's body. She asks Taylor how much time she'd need to get Rick to remember that he shot Grant. Rick could remember after one session, Taylor explains, but he also might never remember at all. She suspects that if and when Rick does remember, he'll be in denial, which is why she plans to progress with Rick slowly, in stages, in order to preserve his sense of self-worth. Stephanie urges Taylor to work quickly, since this thing with Grant's shooting needs to come to a head, but Taylor refuses to push Rick when he's vulnerable.

Ridge asks for Rick's help.
Rick visits Ridge in jail. Ridge seems surprised to see Rick, who says he came when Eric asked him to because he and Ridge are connected somehow, even if it's not as brothers. Ridge agrees they should find some way to get along and tells Rick that things weren't always bad between them, but Rick can't remember a time when he and Ridge were not at odds. Ridge then suggests that Rick help with his defense; Rick doesn't see how he can, since the tons of information he knows about Ridge over the years wouldn't be very helpful. Ridge tells Rick that someone could point him in the right direction, but Rick doubts that could happen given Ridge's penchant for acting violently toward him. Ridge claims that he was there for Rick when Rick was a kid, but Rick doesn't remember that. He does remember, however, worrying about Brooke's safety after Ridge confessed to shooting Grant. "Please don't force me to make things worse for you," Rick pleads, pointing out that he thinks it would be a mistake, for Ridge's sake and for Phoebe's, for him to take the stand on Ridge's behalf. Ridge sees no reason to continue and says this visit is over.

Rick is shocked by Ridge's assertion.
Rick infers from Ridge's short but sweet response that Ridge's lawyer is planning to use him as a witness anyway, but he thinks the only things he can testify to are the violent, despicable things Ridge has done. Ridge tells Rick to forget it, but Rick keeps harping on the fact that he can only attest to how violent Ridge is. Ridge tells Rick, "I didn't shoot Grant Chambers." Rick retorts, "Then who shot him? Did Nick Marone shoot him, too?" Ridge calmly responds, "You did," leaving Rick staring at him in shock!
