Harry confronts Nick.
At the beach house, Bridget is on the phone with Nick, who's on board the Shady Marlin. Bridget reminds him that they decided not to tell her mother about the night they slept together. Nick tells Bridget that their coming together in a moment of comfort was wrong, so he can't keep that secret from his wife. Bridget asks if he's considered what might happen to her; while Brooke might love Nick enough to forgive him, Bridget fears that her mother will never forgive her for this. Bridget hears a knock at the door; she sees Brooke and tells Nick that her mom is here. Nick warns her that her mother will see right through her, no matter what she says. Bridget then ends the call. After hanging up, Nick sees Harry come on board; he asks Harry where he's been, but Harry barks back that he didn't know he had a curfew. Besides, he's just here to pack his things. Nick asks Harry where he's going; the young man replies that he's leaving, so Nick can have the place to himself for his romance on the side!

Nick explains that Harry doesn't know the whole story.
Nick realizes that Harry is upset and tells him to come out and say what's on his mind. Harry angrily replies, "If you want to marry the mother and still sleep with the daughter, I'm sure you've got your reasons." He promises not to tell anyone. Nick responds, "You don't know the whole situation." Harry guesses that he doesn't have a right to complain, since Nick has always been decent to him. He tells Nick to go ahead and live his life however he wants; meanwhile, he'll be living his own life the way Nick taught him to!

Bridget tells Brooke how she feels about Nick.
Bridget greets Brooke, who has heard from "a little bird" - it must be Felicia, Bridget guesses - that Bridget is acting all bubbly lately. She wants to know who the new man in Bridget's life is. Bridget says that she never told Felicia there was a man involved; all she said was that things were looking up for her, and they are. Brooke sees the pressed flowers from Nicole's memorial on the table and looks at Bridget, who admits she sometimes thinks about Nicole. Brooke hugs Bridget and says that she's so sorry, as she knows that you never get over losing a child. Bridget says that's not totally true, since she understands now how losing Nicole influenced the direction of her life. Brooke is glad that Bridget can finally open about this and asks Bridget to tell her everything. Bridget admits that she did some thing she regrets. Brooke asks, "Such as? Or do I already know?" Bridget thinks her mom might know - because the truth is, she's still in love with Nick! In fact, when she sent Nick to stop Brooke's wedding to Ridge, she was sure Brooke would turn Nick away. When that didn't happen and her mom and Nick got married, she thought it would soon fall apart, just like Brooke's marriages to Eric, Thorne, Grant and Whip. "I've been waiting for your marriage to fall apart so mine could begin again!" Bridget proclaims.

Brooke reacts to Bridget's revelation.
Brooke considers what Bridget just said; Bridget tells her, "Whatever you're thinking, I deserve it." Brooke says that she's hardly one to cast stones given her own mistakes. Bridget asks Brooke if she heard what she said. She said that they love the same man, Brooke comments - but that's always been true, so what's changed? But maybe now, she suggests, they can deal with it. "There's nothing that you could do to make me hate you," Brooke assures her daughter; Bridget says that there is. Brooke asks what she means.

Phoebe is happy for her mother, but she's also concerned.
At the Bel Air mansion, Phoebe sits in the living room, on the phone. Outside, Shane watches her through the glass doors and flashes back to the night of Darla's death; he was the bearded stranger who scared Phoebe when he offered to help her. Inside, Taylor comes downstairs. Phoebe hopes the phone didn't wake Taylor; she explains that she was talking to her Uncle Thorne, who invited her to join him and her mother for dinner tonight. She then asks Taylor why she didn't tell her that today was Darla's birthday. Taylor admits she forgot, too, but that explains why Thorne doesn't want to be alone tonight. Phoebe explains that Thorne asked if they could stay over; apparently, Darla promised Alexandria that she could have friends sleep over on Darla's birthday, so Ally chose Phoebe and Taylor. Taylor didn't know that, but she thinks they can do that for Ally. She then tells Phoebe that she has to talk to her about something; she suspects Phoebe may have noticed that she and Thorne are developing feelings for each other, and she wants to know how Phoebe feels about that. Phoebe is happy for her mom, because she knows Taylor cares about Thorne. Still, she worries about how hard it must be for her mom, because she feels guilty about what happened to Darla. Taylor assures her that she's doing this because she cares for Thorne, and not because she feels some obligation to him. She then tells Phoebe to go ahead to Thorne's in her own car, since Phoebe has school tomorrow. She, meanwhile, will finish getting ready and will meet Phoebe there.

Shane covers when Phoebe asks him a tough question.
Shane comes in and tells Taylor that he saw some spider mites on the terrace, so he thought he would check for mites inside; Phoebe introduces the temporary new member of Jorge's gardening team as "Steve," but he quickly corrects her. Shane asks Dr. Forrester about the mites, so she tells him to do what he has to and heads back upstairs. Shane asks Phoebe if he said something to upset her mom. Phoebe explains that today's a bit weird; her Aunt Darla died in a car accident recently, and today was her aunt's birthday. Shane goes about his work, killing the mites; he comments that killing bugs is sometimes even harder than killing people. Phoebe gives him a look; Shane quickly apologizes, as he didn't mean to... Phoebe says it's OK, but her Uncle Thorne is on his way over, so it might be a bad idea to bring up the accident. Shane guesses that losing Darla was hard on the family. It was, Phoebe admits, especially for her, since she was there when it happened. She asks if he heard about it in the news. Shane says that he doesn't follow the news much. Then how did he know her name yesterday? Phoebe asks. Shane says that his company filled him in on the family he'd be working for, but Phoebe wonders how he knew that she was Phoebe and not her twin sister. He quickly covers that Jorge told him about her sister in Europe. He then notes that this house seems big for just two people; Phoebe replies that it's what she's used to. Try getting used to a 6x10 cell, Shane comments; he then says he was talking about his room. Phoebe says that they have company staying over, so she should bring their guest his dinner. Shane says it was nice talking to her and watches her go.

Hector worries that Taylor might let her guard down with Thorne.
Upstairs, Taylor tells Hector that Alexandria asked her and Phoebe to stay at Thorne's tonight, so Hector can ask Maria - that must be some maid who has never been mentioned before - to get him anything he needs. Hector is upset that she's staying there, because it means Thorne is making his move. He fears that she might drop her guard when she's alone with Thorne and tell him the truth. Taylor tells him to stop and explains that today was Darla's birthday, and... She stops herself, unsure why she's explaining herself to Hector. "Don't say I didn't warn you," Hector quips. Taylor tells him that warning her is all he does lately. They used to talk about other things, she laments as she turns to the door and leaves.

As she and Thorne prepare to leave, Taylor tells Shane to finish up.
Thorne arrives and meets Shane; he wonders why the gardener is inside, so Shane covers that they do interior work as well. He guesses that Thorne is Phoebe's uncle and says he was sorry to hear about Darla and hopes they threw the book at the driver. Just then, Taylor comes down; she tells Thorne that Phoebe will be taking her own car, so they can leave. She then asks Shane if he can wrap up, since Phoebe will be locking up when she leaves. She says goodbye to Shane and leaves with Thorne. Once the door closes, he remarks, "Bye-bye to you, too, Taylor." When Phoebe comes down, Shane asks her to let her mom know that he has to talk to her about an idea he had. Phoebe says she will. Shane exits through the terrace doors; as Phoebe locks the door, Shane tells her to drive safely and then heads for his dumpy apartment. Once inside, he takes a beer from the 'fridge and looks at one wall, which he has covered with newspaper articles about Darla's death. As he stares at the wall, he flashes back to the night of the accident again. After Phoebe ducked in the car and locked the doors to avoid him, he walked away. But Phoebe didn't see him hide in the bushes on the side of the road. From there, he watches as Taylor's car came barrelling down the road and hit Darla. He watched Phoebe and Taylor agonizing over Darla's injured body before Hector and the paramedics arrived. Then Thorne came and accompanied them to the hospital.

Still looking at the clippings, Shane eyes one about Thorne and says to himself, "It's a terrible thing, Mr. Forrester, that one man's loss should be another man's gain. But I'll tell you something: come tomorrow, it's payday for me."
