Shane and Phoebe are put off by Hector's insinuation.
At the Bel Air mansion, Hector comes downstairs just as Taylor comes home. He tells her that he's decided to move out tomorrow. While he appreciates all her kindness, he thinks it's the right thing. Taylor hopes he's not leaving because of her relationship with Thorne and reminds him that he needs his friends, but he says he needs more than that. Taylor asks where he'll be staying; he tells he that a friend offered him the use of a small, but private guest house. Taylor still thinks he'd have a smoother adjustment period staying here with her and Phoebe, but she sees his mind's made up. Just then, Phoebe comes in and holds the door for Shane. Hearing Phoebe talking, Hector asks who's with her. Phoebe tells him that it's Shane. Taylor explains about Shane's accident and informs Hector that Shane will be staying her for a few days. Shane thanks Taylor and Phoebe, who asks where they'll put Shane. Shane says he'd be fine in a closet, but Taylor points out that Thomas's room will be free with Hector leaving. Hector is immediately suspicious and asks Shane about his family. Shane replies that he doesn't speak to his family in Atlanta much, and he's renting a studio apartment here in L.A. week to week. Hector finds it just a tad convenient that a landscaper - he's actually a carpenter, Phoebe explains - would be so careless to let someone use hedge clippers that way. Shane is annoyed that Hector sees to be saying he did this on purpose. Whatever happened, Hector states, Shane is using it to his advantage.

Hector is suspicious of Shane.
Phoebe finds Hector's statement a bit hypocritical given how her mom allowed Hector to stay here. Before they can get into an argument, Taylor puts a stop to it. Since Hector will apparently be staying a while longer, Taylor tells Phoebe to show Shane to the guest room. Shane thanks Taylor again as Phoebe leads him upstairs. Alone with Hector, Taylor says that she understands his concerns. But she's doing this for Phoebe, who feels responsible for Shane's accident. Hector thinks Phoebe is overcompensating for her guilt and advises Taylor not to let Shane get too comfortable. Then it will be a good thing if he doesn't move out, Taylor points out, since he'll be there to keep them safe from Shane. Hector thinks he'll do just that and asks Taylor if he remembers that there's a fax machine in Thomas's room (she pointed it out to him when he moved in, although I still don't see why a teenager would need his own fax machine). Taylor confirms that the fax machine is there, so Hector goes upstairs and calls a friend. Within minutes, the friend sends a fax and tells Hector (who of course can't read the fax) that Shane McGrath from Atlanta has a criminal record here in L.A. Hector predicts to himself that Shane will soon be hitting the road again.

Taylor tries to explain Hector's attitude to Phoebe.
Phoebe shows Shane to the guest room, which he thinks is a major improvement over where he has been staying. Phoebe reminds him of the doctor's instructions to keep his hand elevated and offers to change his bandage, but Shane thinks the bandage is fine for now. Phoebe goes to get some pillows for Shane's hand. While getting the pillows, Phoebe stops downstairs and asks her mother why Hector is so annoying. Taylor thinks it's the "protective fireman" in Hector, but Phoebe frets that Hector doesn't know when to stop. She thanks Taylor again for letting Shane stay; Taylor reminds her again that it's only for a few days. Meanwhile, upstairs, alone in the guest room, Shane lies back and gets comfortable. He says to himself this arrangement will work, but he needs to find a way to make it last.

Brooke and Nick are in their bedroom making love. Nick reminds her about the few issues he has with this "making babies" thing. She asks if he means the way it makes you think about changing diapers, mashed bananas and staying up nights. Actually, Nick says, he was thinking about the way Mother Nature makes them think sex is fun just to get them to procreate, even though there are too many people in the world. Then maybe they should check to make sure it's still fun, Brooke laughs. Nick thinks that's the least they can do, since it's for the good of the human race. Brooke agrees, and they get back to their lovemaking. Brooke compliments Nick on being such an incredible lover. "It's true," he humbly confirms, seeing a funny look on Brooke's face. He asks what's wrong; she tells him that she was just thinking about Bridget. She's proud of her daughter for wanting to help all those sick people in Africa, but she still feels like Bridget is doing it to run away from them. She just wishes Bridget could find find the same kind of bond with a man that she has with Nick. She laments that things seem so much less complicated before your kids grow up.

Brooke tells Nick how safe and happy she feels with him.
Nick tells her not to worry about Bridget, who is just setting a new course in her life. "Aye, aye, captain," Brooke responds. Nick senses that she's making fun of him and promises to punish her like a good captain should. As Nick starts his "punishment," Brooke tells him that it feels so good. Nick agrees, but Brooke says she wasn't talking about the sex. She was referring to the fact that it feels so good to be with a man she loves completely. It's like a safe harbor. Nick thinks she's getting rather nautical with all these references. Brooke tells him that she's serious. She loves him so much, since she knows he would never betray her. They start to kiss and cuddle, but Nick again has that guilty look on his face.

Christian is in Bridget's office, reading the test results. Bridget tells him to quit stalling and let her know if she's pregnant. He hands her the report and lets her looks for herself. Shocked, she says that they have to run this again, but Christian reminds her that their lab wouldn't screw up a simple test like this. She says, "Not now, not this way." Christian assumes she means it's complicated because she's not married. She tells him that he has no idea.

Felicia learns Bridget is pregnant.
Felicia arrives at the hospital early for her appointment with Christian so she could drop in on Bridget first. A nurse, Lori, tells her that Bridget is actually in her office with Christian. Felicia heads for Bridget's office (first year residents have such spacious offices?), where Christian tells Bridget that this will impact her trip to Africa. It impacts everything, Bridget responds. She laments how this was never supposed to be happen. That whole night was wrong. So for her to be pregnant now... At just that moment, Felicia opens the door and is stunned to hear that Bridget is pregnant! Bridget admonishes Felicia for barging in like that. Felicia says she didn't mean to do that, but since she did, she needs to know the details. Christian gets a page, so he leaves the sisters alone. Felicia demands to know who the father is; Bridget is upset with Felicia making demands like that, but she assures Felicia that it's not Dante, since it's been a while since she slept with him. But it could still be his, Felicia guesses. Bridget wishes right now that it could be. Felicia takes that to mean this was the result of some one night stand; kind of, Bridget replies, but not the way Felicia thinks. In fact, it would probably be better if the father was some guy in a bar, since she still can't believe she let this happen. Felicia asks again who the father is; Bridget is reluctant at first, but she finally realizes it's going to come out anyway and reveals that Nick is the father!

Bridget knows what she has to do.
Felicia asks how this happened, because she knows how much Nick loves Brooke. Bridget explains how it happened the night of the talk show telecast, when her mom rushed to confront Ridge. Nick went to his boat and started drinking, because he'd had enough of Brooke. He took off his ring, and she was there as a friend. But one thing led to another and... She laments that she didn't want to break up her mother's marriage. Felicia wonders if it was already falling apart, since Nick let that night happen. But it wasn't falling apart, Bridget tearfully explains, since her mom and Nick patched things up the next day. She recalls the way she felt about her mother when she found out about Brooke's affair with Deacon. She swore she would never be like that or hurt anyone that way, but now it's happened. She's just like her mother. She called her mother a horrible person for sleeping with her husband, and now she's done the same thing. Felicia thinks it's different. Bridget admits that two things are different. One is that she judged her mother. The other is that she doesn't intend to create the same mess her mom did. Felicia asks what she means. Bridget says that she may hate the thought of it, but she knows what has to be done.
