Stephanie wonders what Shane wants.
At Taylor's house, Shane tells Stephanie how he witnessed Darla's accident. He insists that he doesn't want any money for his silence. Then what does he want? Stephanie asks, eager to learn what Mr. McGrath's price is. Shane responds that he only wants to be friends with Taylor and Phoebe. Stephanie quips that people rarely make friends out of fear. Shane replies that he likes Taylor, and he really, really likes Phoebe. Stephanie asks what "really, really" means. Shane responds that it means that her granddaughter is beautiful and sweet. He admits that he thought Phoebe was stuck up when she spurned his offer of help on the night of the accident, but now that he's gotten to know her... Stephanie now sees where Shane is coming from: he has the hots for her granddaughter! Shane admits that he had some ideas when he first came here - of blackmail, Stephanie guesses - but he points out that he has yet to say one word about the accident to the authorities, and he has no intention of doing so. That is, unless Stephanie wants him to go to the police? Stephanie actually thinks she'd like him to do that; she starts to question him about the night of the accident and gets him to admit that he was hiding in a place where Taylor or Phoebe could not see him. She asks how good his recollections could be if he was so well hidden. Shane insists that he knows what he saw. Or he thinks he knows, Stephanie suggests, pointing out that he withheld evidence by not going to the police. She explains that by doing so, he could be considered an accessory after the fact.

Shane thinks about his plans for Phoebe.
Before Shane can reply, Thorne comes in, holding flowers for Taylor. He asks his mother what's going on. Stephanie introduces Thorne to Shane, but Thorne tells her that he and Shane have already met briefly. Seeing the flowers in Thorne's hand, Stephanie surmises that Thorne is there to see Taylor; she's sorry to tell him that Taylor took Hector to the doctor, so she offers to hold onto the flowers until Taylor returns. Thorne hands his mother the flowers and thanks her; Stephanie tells him that she's very happy for him and Taylor. Thorne then says his goodbyes and leaves. Once Thorne is gone, Shane observes that Stephanie is the kind of mother who would do anything for her son. He sees how Stephanie wants Thorne and Taylor to be together, so he promises not to say a word about the accident. Stephanie seems skeptical, but Shane assures her that he found something special working here. He's never before felt the warmth and acceptance that he feels here. Stephanie warns him to stay away from Phoebe; she promises that he will regret it if he so much as lays a finger on her granddaughter. Shane says that he understands, and he reiterates his promise not to do anything to upset Phoebe. Stephanie puts the flowers Thorne brought down on the table and leaves the room. Alone, Shane says to himself that he's not scared of the "old lady." Recalling how Stephanie warned him not to lay a hand on Phoebe, he laughs that he intends to show a lot more than just his hand to Stephanie's precious granddaughter.

Felicia advises Bridget.
Felicia drops by the hospital to see if Bridget got her test results. Bridget says that she did and confirms that Felicia is looking at a healthy, pregnant woman. Felicia asks Bridget if she told Brooke yet. Bridget says that she didn't, but she did tell Nick, who is telling Brooke as they speak. Felicia doesn't envy the position that Nick is in. Bridget explains that Nick is pretty optimistic, but she just wants her baby to have a father. Felicia doesn't think Bridget has to worry about Nick bailing out on her. Bridget tells her sister that Nick thinks Brooke might actually understand, having lived an unconventional life herself. Felicia thinks that's quite a stretch. She points out that Bridget would still be married to Nick had Brooke stayed married to her true love, Ridge. But that didn't happen, so things aren't quite that simple. She knows Bridget hopes that Brooke will understand, but she thinks Brooke will feel betrayed. Bridget asks Felicia if she's saying there's no hope for her mother's marriage. Felicia tells Bridget that Brooke only chose Nick over Ridge by a nose, because choosing Nick was the safe choice. She doesn't see how Brooke can forgive Bridget and Nick's betrayal once she learns the truth, since Brooke has turned her back on Ridge for far less than that. And Ridge is still available, Bridget points out. Which means Ridge and Brooke might still reunite, Felicia points out; she just hopes it happens before Donna claims Ridge for her own.

Donna asks for Brooke's help.
In the Forrester CEO's office, Brooke asks Nick why he's being so mysterious. She offers to cancel her meetings so she and Nick can discuss what's on his mind. Before Nick can answer, Donna comes in, holding several dresses on hangers in her hands. Donna apologizes for interrupting, but she needs Brooke's help. Nick tells Brooke to talk with her sister and meet him on the Marlin when she's done. Once Nick is gone, Donna asks Brooke which of the dresses she has would be most pleasing to Ridge, who is due back from Europe tonight. Brooke can't believe that Donna wants her help in choosing a dress to seduce Ridge. Donna explains that she and Ridge are taking the time to get to know each other, but there is one thing standing in the way - Brooke! She asks Brooke to choose between two dresses, but Brooke doesn't even care and tells Donna to "just dress up all sexy" and see where it gets her. Donna doesn't believe that Brooke means it. Reminding Donna that she is married now, Brooke tells her sister to leave her out of this as she storms out of the office!

Nick tells Harry that he's coming clean with Brooke.
Nick gets to the Shady Marlin and asks Harry to leave; he explains to Harry that he's telling Brooke the truth. Harry says he'll be out of there once he grabs a few things. He thinks it's great that Nick is coming clean and hopes Nick can beg hard enough to get Brooke to forgive him. Nick asks Harry if he can keep what they're about to talk about just between them; Harry agrees, so Nick tells him that Bridget is pregnant! Stunned, Harry asks Nick how he intends to tell Brooke about the pregnancy. Nick says he isn't sure, but he's hoping that Brooke will keep an open mind about the whole thing once he explains. Harry asks how Brooke can be OK with the idea of being step-mother to her own grandchild? "Stranger things have happened in this family," Nick replies. Harry hopes Nick is right and wishes him luck.

Harry is pleased to finally meet Brooke.
Soon after, Nick finds that Harry is still on the boat. Harry says that he wanted to get his music, and he hoped he would be gone before... Seeing Brooke come aboard, Harry guesses he was too late. Nick introduces Harry to Brooke, who says she's heard so much about Harry from her husband. Harry says that it's nice to meet her, but he has to go, so Brooke invites him to stop by the house some time soon and meet the rest of the family. Harry says he'll do that and turns to leave. Nick asks Harry to cast off the lines once he gets to the dock; Harry says he will and exits.

Brooke is puzzled by Nick's comments.
Brooke asks Nick where they're going; she's surprised when Nick stops the boat a few miles out. She guesses it has to do with the important news he wants to discuss and admits that he's scaring her with all this secrecy. Nick asks her to sit down and talk with him. He explains that he always tried hard to live up to his personal code of ethics. Brooke admits that integrity is what she loves about him. Nick recalls how he always promised over and over not to let her down. But unfortunately, he has. He's let her down in a big way by doing something he's not proud of, but he hopes and prays that she can understand. If there's anyone who can find a miracle in something, he states, it's her, and he needs her to do that now. Because if she can't find that miracle, they won't make it together. Brooke is puzzled by his comments.
