At Taylor's house, Hector thanks Harry for taking him to Taylor's hearing. Harry says it was no trouble, but he's glad he now understands what was going on with Shane. Hector apologizes for not saying anything sooner; Harry understands that Hector was suspicious of Shane that night on PCH, but he supposes that's settled now that Shane agreed to testify on Taylor's behalf. Hector is still unsure about Shane and wants to figure out Shane's motive.

Phoebe is nervous being outside with Shane.
Out by the pool, Phoebe feels a bit cold and suggests to Shane that they go inside. Shane gives her his jacket and asks her to put it on, so they can continue to enjoy this beautiful evening. Phoebe takes the jacket but still wants to go back inside, as it's been a long day. Shane senses that Phoebe is nervous and tells her to relax. He knows things got dangerous the last time they were here alone, on the night she cut his hand, and he starts to mockingly imitate Phoebe's panic at cutting into his hand. Phoebe laughs as she apologizes for that night; she understands now why he couldn't tell her then that he had witnessed Darla's death, because he didn't know her or her family that well yet. But she thinks he proved himself by coming forward to help her mother. Shane guesses that his coming to Taylor's aid makes him a pretty important guy; Phoebe agrees that it does. Shane admits that he thought about using what he knew to his own advantage until he got to see what a kind, decent person Phoebe is. He did the right thing, and he only wants one thing in return: he wants Phoebe to like him. Phoebe asks how she could dislike the man who saved her mother. Shane comments how funny it seems that a guy Phoebe barely knows holds the key to her family's future, so he wishes she could get to know him better and let him share things with her. Like the accident? she asks. Shane replies that he was thinking more of showing her how he really feels about her. He thinks she's one of the most beautiful and generous girls he's ever met, and now she's turned 18. She's a woman now, and she can do what she wants.

Phoebe reminds Shane that she still has to answer to her parents while she lives with them. Speaking of her mom, Shane promises that he's going to bring Taylor home. Phoebe tells him that she appreciates that; Shane asks her to show him just how much she appreciates it and kisses her! Phoebe pulls away, unhappy with his trying to kiss her.

Ridge asks Brooke to admit that she wants to be with him.
In the hospital linen closet, Ridge asks Brooke to admit that she wants to be with him, but they are interrupted when the closet door opens. Brooke seems relieved when a nasty nurse pokes her head in and asks Ridge what he's doing there. She orders the couple to leave. Brooke is more than happy to comply; she tells Ridge that she can't do this here and goes out into the hall, leaving Ridge to face the nurse's angry scowl.

Meet Dr. Hillman, Jackie's neurologist.
Brooke rejoins Stephanie, who asks where Ridge is. Brooke says she's more worried about Jackie, but Stephanie assures her that Jackie will be fine. Dr. Hillman, Jackie's neurologist, comes over and introduces himself to Brooke. He asks if she'd like to join him while he discusses Jackie's test results with Nick. Brooke says she would and leaves with the doctor. Ridge and Stephanie are discussing the severity of Jackie's condition when Eric arrives. Eric asks how Jackie is. Ridge replies that the neurologist is in with Jackie right now. Eric wonders what happened that requires a neurologist. Stephanie tells him that Jackie fell. "And how did that happen?" Eric asks his wife. Stephanie explains how Jackie confronted her at the house and refused to leave. She claims that Jackie followed her upstairs during their argument and fell. It was an accident, Ridge assures his dad. Eric asks how bad it was; Ridge tells him that the neurologist is giving Nick the test results right now, so they don't know how bad it really is. Eric guesses that Nick must be very upset. Of course Nick's upset, Stephanie chimes in, as his his mother's been seriously injured.

Brooke tries to comfort Nick.
Dr. Hillman gives Nick and Brooke good news and bad news. The good news is that Jackie's spine is not injured. The bad news, however, is that the bleeding in Jackie's head is putting pressure on her brain that can cause all kinds of damage to her. There is an operation they can do to relieve the pressure, but they have to act quickly. Nick is unsure about drilling into his mother's head, but Dr. Hillman explains that the alternative if they don't operate could be far worse. However, he doesn't want to rush into surgery just yet, so he wants to monitor Jackie for now, in case the bleeding stops on its own. Nick asks if his mother will regain consciousness; sadly, Dr. Hillman is unable to tell him when, or even if, Jackie will wake up. He promises to keep Nick updated if anything changes. After the doctor leaves, Nick sits with Brooke by Jackie's bedside, praying that his mother will be OK. Brooke assures him that Jackie will be fine, but Nick isn't as confident. Brooke tells Nick that Jackie has a lot to live for, especially her son. She thinks Jackie is a fighter, like him. "But I can't help her," Nick laments. He can by being there to support his mother, Brooke tells him. A nurse comes in to check Jackie's vitals, so Brooke suggests that Nick come with her to get some coffee. Nick thanks her for being here.

Eric spends time with Jackie.
After Nick and Brooke leave, Eric steps in to the room. He asks the nurse if he can sit with Jackie for a while; she tells him to go ahead and gives him some time alone with Jackie. Standing by the side of the bed, Eric says that he knows she can hear him, since he's been in similar situations with Felicia's illness and Ridge's heart attack. He's spent a lot of time in hospitals lately, praying for people he loves to get better, so he wants Jackie to know that he's praying for her. "Come back to us," he pleads.

Stephanie reflects on what happened with Jackie.
After Eric leaves, Stephanie comes in. She tells the unconscious Jackie that this didn't have to happen. She doesn't know why they are always fighting, or why Jackie didn't leave when she asked. She wants Jackie to know that she really is sorry about this, and she's sorry that Nick has to experience the fear that his mother might not pull through. That's why she wants Jackie to pull through for not only herself, but for Nick, since Nick is soon going to need his mother more than ever. Jackie's eyes start to flutter, and her body starts to convulse; Stephanie is surprised as the machines in the room start beeping loudly. Dr. Hillman rushes in with some nurses and tries to hold Jackie down. Nick and Brooke rush in, and Nick demands to know what's happening. A nurse tells Nick and everyone else to please clear the room so the doctor can work. Outside, Nick asks Stephanie what she did to her mother; Stephanie insists that she did nothing. Nick asks why she was even in there; she tells him that she was concerned about his mother. If she's concerned, Nick angrily replies, then she better go down to the chapel and pray, since he will make Stephanie pay if anything happens to his mother!

Brooke tries to assure Stephanie that Nick is just worried about his mother. She believes that Stephanie didn't cause Jackie's seizure, but she also thinks Stephanie's presence here is causing tension and suggests that Stephanie go home. Ridge comes over and asks what's going on. Brooke tells him about Jackie's seizure. Ridge asks what that has to do with his mother. Brooke explains that Stephanie was in the room when it happened. Stephanie insists that she didn't do anything. Ridge asks his mother for a moment alone with Brooke; as Stephanie steps away, Brooke tells Ridge that she knows Stephanie isn't at fault. Ridge says that he doesn't want to talk about his mother; he wants to talk about them. He knows Nick is scared now, but he also knows how Brooke feels, and he doesn't think Brooke is doing Nick any good by holding back her decision about her future. He's sure Brooke was going to choose him, but he understands how hard it will be for her to walk away with Nick. No he doesn't, Brooke responds. But he does know her, Ridge says, and he knows she loves him. He just wants her to confirm that he's the one she wants to spend her life with. Before Brooke can respond, Jackie is wheeled past; Brooke sees Dr. Hillman and asks what's going on. Dr. Hillman says that they're taking Jackie to surgery and needs to tell Nick. Brooke tells him that she'll be right there.

As Brooke goes into the room with Dr. Hillman, Stephanie approaches Ridge and asks what's happening. Ridge tells her that he fears Nick will use this tragedy to lure Brooke back, and he will not let that happen! He peeks into the hospital room and watches as Brooke with Nick; Brooke is looking in his direction as she hugs and comforts Nick.
