Harry promises to keep an eye on Phoebe, so Ridge leaves. Hector's glad that Shane won't be around tonight since he's busy with Storm. But for how long? Harry wonders. Hector wishes they had told Ridge that Shane has been pressuring Phoebe, who thinks her dad's wrath would might have scared Shane off. At least she's not going over to Shane's tonight, Harry states. He tells Shane what to do to look and sound convincing in front of the jury, but a bored Shane wants to wrap this up so he can get on with his special plans tonight. Storm goes over the key points of what he wants Shane to say and how he wants Shane to dress, but Shane is too busy daydreaming about Phoebe to hear a word Storm says. Seeing the faraway look of Shane's face, Storm tries to snap Shane out of it. Shane thinks that's his cue to put an end to this waste of time and shows the lawyer out. With Storm gone, Shane decides it's time to start celebrating and calls Phoebe. When Phoebe sees Shane is calling, Harry tells her not to answer, but Phoebe says she has to and picks up. Shane asks Phoebe if she's on her way. She tells him that she can't make it. Shane fumes at the thought that Phoebe is blowing off their big plans and asks if she's just leading him on. Phoebe lies that she wants to see him, but her dad won't let her leave the house. She invites him over to the house instead. Shane asks Phoebe if her dad is there. She lies that everyone's gone, so they could be alone by the pool. Shane thinks that will work and says he'll be right over.
On the drive over, Shane recalls the events that brought him tonight - offering Phoebe help with her flat tire, seeing Taylor's car hit Darla, promising to testify on Taylor's behalf. He tells himself that this is his chance to make a difference. This angel, Phoebe, came into his life, and he refuses to let her down by blowing it. This will be a night they'll remember forever.

Ridge is glad to see Thorne with Taylor.
|
At the county jail, Thorne visits with Taylor in a meeting room. Taylor frets that the trial isn't over yet. Thorne assures her that she'll go free once the judge and jury hear what Shane has to say. He knows Shane seemed a bit rough on the stand, but he's sure Storm will work on that. Taylor's not worried about the testimony; she's worried about Shane's attention to Phoebe, especially since she's not home to protect Phoebe. Thorne offers to check on Phoebe, but she reminds him that he has his own daughter to care for. He tells her that Ally's staying with Sally tonight. Taylor is sure Phoebe will be OK with Ridge at the house, especially since Ridge told Shane to leave. Even so, Taylor regrets that Shane feels like he's in control with what he saw. She tells Thorne that she's sorry, since she's the one responsible for all this. What happened was an accident, Thorne assures her, and that's what Shane will tell the jury. Taylor frets that the jury might see her poorly because she was drinking, or because she lied. Even though she made some mistakes, Thorne still thinks the jury will see that hitting Darla was unavoidable. The door opens and Ridge enters. Taylor asks why he's here. Ridge says that he came to offer moral support, but it looks like his little brother beat him to it. Taylor worries that Shane might show up at the house, but Ridge tells her that Shane's with Storm. Even so, Taylor feels disconnected from everything. Thorne tells her that she'll be out of there soon. Ridge agrees and thanks Thorne for coming around about Taylor, since his forgiveness kept her from a ten year prison sentence.

Phoebe tells Harry that she can handle Shane.
|
Back at Taylor's house, Harry and Hector ask Phoebe what she was thinking when she invited Shane over and told him she was alone. Hector reminds her that Ridge will flip if he comes home and sees Shane. Phoebe tells them she knows what she's doing. She just needs a little time with Shane to convince him that they should put off celebrating for another day, which she can do before her dad gets back. Then Shane will testify tomorrow and Taylor will be on her way home. Harry thinks it's too dangerous. Phoebe admits Shane comes on strong, but she doesn't think he would ever hurt her. Harry can't believe that she actually likes this guy. She doesn't answer and heads out to the pool. Harry follows her out and tells her to answer his question. Phoebe replies that she just doesn't think he's as dangerous as everyone claims. She tells Harry to go upstairs before Shane arrives, but he refuses to leave and wants to hide in the bushes. Phoebe protests and the two argue until they hear Shane's car. Phoebe reluctantly tells Harry to hide in the bushes and orders him to stay out of sight.

Shane asks Phoebe if she's just using him.
|
Shane arrives by the pool and gives Phoebe some flowers he bought. He tells her how beautiful she looks; he thinks it's perfect for their special night. Phoebe offers Shane some water; he seems disappointed that she doesn't have something better suited for celebrating, like champagne. She reminds him that she's underage, and she also thought that champagne would tire her out. They can't have her doze off, Shane laughs. He asks if she's sure they're alone. She tells her that her dad went to see her mom, and Hector is sleeping. Shane pulls Phoebe to close to him. She asks why he seems rushed, since he dad won't be back for a while. Shane tells her that he's waited a long time for this. Phoebe pulls away, explaining that she's just nervous about the trial tomorrow. Shane asks if she still sees him like she did when they first met. Phoebe denies it. Then why is she always so intense around him? Shane asks. Phoebe explains that this is all new to her. Shane says it's new for him to tell her that he loves her, like he's about to do right now. He hopes she believes that. Phoebe hesitantly says she does. Shane senses her hesitation and fumes that she's just using him to get her mom out of jail. Phoebe says he's wrong, but Shane grabs her and demands that she admit! Just then, Harry shouts out, "You bastard" as he jumps from behind the bushes and hits Shane.

Hector swings a baseball bat at Shane and hits someone.
|
As he wipes the blood from his mouth, Shane asks Phoebe how she could do this to him. This was supposed to be their night, but she had her boyfriend hiding in the bushes. He believed in her, but he sees now that she doesn't give a damn about him, just like everyone else. Of course she doesn't, Harry counters, since Shane is sick! Phoebe tells Harry to stop, but Harry is tired of Shane using his power over Taylor to force Phoebe to have sex with him. Shane responds that Harry doesn't know what he's talking about. "Like Phoebe would ever be interested in a dirtball like you," Harry retorts. Shane jumps Harry and punches start to fly between the two men. Shane knocks Harry to the ground, leaving Harry lying unconscious with his head bleeding. Phoebe asks Shane to let her explain, but he knows she was using him and asks what he did that was so horrible to deserve that. Just then, Hector comes out with a baseball bat. Hearing Shane and Phoebe argue, Hector assumes Phoebe is in trouble. He lift the bat and tells Shane to let Phoebe go. Hector then blindly swings the bat and strikes someone causing blood to splatter all over him. Not hearing anyone's voices afterward, Hector calls out for Phoebe...
