Taylor tells Stephanie that she's worried about Phoebe.
Stephanie and Storm arrive at the county jail to meet with Taylor. Before Taylor arrives, Stephanie tells Storm that she's not happy about his involvement with Nick and Jackie. Because of that, she wants to be clear that his main focus has to be Taylor. Storm wholeheartedly agrees. A guard brings in Taylor, who asks how Phoebe is. Stephanie responds that Phoebe is fine and assures Taylor that the whole family will be in court tomorrow to support her. Taylor tells Storm that she wants Shane to testify first. Storm thinks Shane will make a better impression if he testifies last; Taylor insists that Shane go first, so he can be done and out of Phoebe's life. She tells Storm and Stephanie how Harry dropped by and told her that Shane is spending a lot of time with Phoebe. She guesses that Phoebe doesn't want to alienate Shane before he testifies. Stephanie assures Taylor that Shane won't lay a finger on Phoebe; she's sure Shane recognizes that his testimony is his meal ticket and won't mess that up. Taylor doesn't even want Phoebe to have to stress over Shane's attention. Stephanie tells Taylor to relax; she reminds Taylor that Ridge and Hector are both in the house. She's sure that everything will be over tomorrow once Shane testifies, especially with the defense Storm has built. A defense built solely around Shane, Taylor laments.

Hector warns Shane not to get comfortable playing hero.
At Taylor's house, Shane is talking on his cell phone to someone, making sure everything is set for tonight. Hector comes in and overhears, so he asks what's going on. Shane says he's just checking on his plans to have some fun with Phoebe tonight. Hector warns Shane no to get so cozy playing the hero, but Shane boasts to the formerly heroic fireman that Phoebe will be extremely grateful to him once his testimony sets her mommy free. Hector tells Shane not to touch Phoebe, but the gardener isn't scared of the blind man and boasts that Phoebe will be his after the trial.

Harry worries about Shane's intentions toward Phoebe.
Meanwhile, Harry invites Phoebe out for pizza, but she tells him that she has plans with Shane tonight. Harry warns her that it's too dangerous to be around that nut, even if it's just to keep Shane in line until he testifies. He tells Phoebe that he spoke to her mom; Phoebe scolds him for making her mom worry when she should be focusing on getting out of jail. Harry offers to talk to Ridge instead, but Phoebe fears her dad would then rip Shane in half. Harry says he wants to do the same thing, but Phoebe reminds him that they need Shane to testify if her mom's going to go free. She tells Harry that she just has to fend off Shane one more day. Harry is glad to hear that, since he has plans of his own for Phoebe. Like what? Phoebe asks. Harry starts to kiss her, but Shane comes in and tell "the boy scout" to back off his dinner date. Harry tells Shane to go crawl back under the rock he came out from under, but Shane just laughs at Harry's comment. He tells the "loser" to excuse him and Phoebe while they go celebrate. Just then, Taylor calls to check on Phoebe, who lies to her mom that everything is fine. Taylor warns Phoebe not to do anything foolish around Shane; Phoebe promises to be careful and says it will be all over tomorrow. After Phoebe hangs up, Taylor prays for her daughter to stay safe. Meanwhile, Shane asks if she's ready. Phoebe says it's getting late and suggests ordering in. If she doesn't want to go out, Shane states, maybe he'll go out himself - and just keep on going. He asks Phoebe if that's what she wants, so she reluctantly agrees to go out with him.

Hector comes in and calls out for Shane, but only Harry is there. When Hector realizes that Phoebe went out with Shane, he asks Harry what he was thinking. Harry replies that Phoebe said they were just going for a quick bite, so Hector tells him about the phone conversation he overheard earlier. He knows Shane has something special planned for Phoebe, which is why he and Harry have to find Shane and Phoebe before Shane makes his move.

Phoebe feels uncomfortable at Shane's apartment.
On the road, Phoebe tells Shane that he missed the turn for the restaurant. Shane explains that he has a more romantic place in mind: Chez Shane. Phoebe tells him that wasn't part of their deal, but he assures her that his place is quiet and intimate. Phoebe reminds Shane that everyone is expecting them back soon. Shane tells her to relax; he thinks it's time he made her a meal at his place after all the meals he's had at hers. Phoebe doesn't want him to get the wrong idea; he asks what the big deal is about having a little wine to toast to the good things to come after he testifies for her mother. He tells her that he's doing that for her, since he'd do anything for her. He puts his hand on Phoebe's shoulder, which makes her a little nervous. Soon after, Shane leads Phoebe into his shabby apartment, where he has a candlelit lasagna dinner waiting. He tells Phoebe that he asked a friend to help set this up; he knows it's not up to her standards, so he hopes it's OK. Phoebe tells him it's fine. Shane senses that she's nervous and tells her to relax. She may be a kid at her mom's place, he says, but she can be a lady here, and a gorgeous one at that. He offers her some wine, but she points out she's underage. Shane can't believe she's passing up some wine, since she's been to Europe and probably had some there. Phoebe asks for some water and tells him that she appreciates what he's doing. She'd better, he says, since he'll be sending her mom home tomorrow. But he doesn't want her to worry about that tonight, he says as he hands her some water. He wants her to think of tonight as his gift to her.

Shane puts on some music and asks Phoebe to come over and dance with him. He tells her that he's never felt anything like this before. When he first met her, he was full of anger and short on self-esteem, but he thinks that's changed since he met her. Phoebe thinks he's had a hard life and suggests that she and her mom can help him once her mom is free. Shane asks her to show him how much his helping her mom means to her. Feeling uncomfortable, Phoebe thinks she should go. She says that she's attracted to him, but she is too nervous with her mother's trial tomorrow. Shane suggests they finish their dinner and enjoy the moment, but Phoebe thinks she's too young for this. Shane offers her some more wine, but she says she'd prefer champagne and asks him to get some. Shane tells her to wait right her while he runs to the store for some. Once Shane is gone, Phoebe calls Harry and tells him where she is. She tells Harry how afraid she is that she can't do this. Harry tells her to leave, but she says she can't with her mom's trial tomorrow. Harry asks where the apartment is; Phoebe only knows it's north of sunset in Hollywood, so Harry tells her to look for mail with Shane's address. As she looks, Phoebe finds a curtain and pulls it back, only to find a wall of photos of her! When Phoebe cries out, Harry asks what's wrong; when she tells him about the pictures, he says he's calling the police. Phoebe tells him not to, as it will ruin her mom's trial. Just them, she gasps as Shane grabs the phone from her!

Shane interrupts Phoebe's phone call.
Shane tells Phoebe that he forgot his wallet and asks what's going on here. He's mad, because he tried to make tonight special for her. Phoebe says that they're friends. Shane asks if he disgusts her; he can't understand why she feels this way after he did something nice for someone who claimed to like him. Phoebe assures him that she does want him. Then why was she talking on the phone that way just now? He asks. He wonders if she was talking to that clown Harry. She tells him that the photos caught her off guard and asks to get back to their dinner, but Shane frets that dinner is ruined. Phoebe asks him not to say that. Shane asks Phoebe why she can't see that he only wants to make her happy and pleads for her to give him a chance. He moves close and tells her, "I love you, sweetheart. And tonight, you're going to love me, too."
