At the Bel Air mansion, Stephanie continues to sober Taylor up, saying she will fix everything. Taylor doesn't think so. Stephanie says no one has to know, since she's sure Nick won't want anybody to know what happened. Nothing happened, Taylor says. Even when she and Nick fell into each other's arms, it was because they were both devastated, and she could see why Nick would be after seeing Brooke trying to comfort Ridge. In the only way Brooke knows how, Stephanie quips. Taylor tells Stephanie to cut that out and accept that nothing happened between Brooke and Ridge. How does she know? Taylor asks. Because Brooke realized what happened and left Ridge to find Nick; that's why Brooke was on the boat and caught her with Nick on his bed. Stephanie is stunned that Brooke would leave Ridge that way. She guesses it was a blow to Brooke's ego that she expected to find a broken Nick alone, but instead found him with Taylor. She frets that Brooke will use this to keep Ridge and Taylor apart, even if she doesn't want Ridge herself. Taylor says her marriage is over, and nothing happened with Nick, so let Brooke go ahead. Stephanie however thinks that they need to get down to the Marlin and talk to Brooke now. She grabs Taylor to come with her. Maybe Stephanie can help her find her shoes there, Taylor muses.
On the Shady Marlin, Ridge asks "Logan" to leave, but she just looks at him. Nick tells Ridge that Brooke isn't leaving with him, but Ridge can't believe that she would stay here with a loser like Nick. Nick made a mistake, she says. They all made mistakes. But this should have been their wedding night, Ridge laments. Brooke reminds him that his sister died tonight. He came to her for comfort, but she made a mistake and let it go too far, since what Nick saw should never have happened. But they were almost married, Ridge tells her. Things have changed now, Nick tells him. All because of what Nick did to both Bridget and Brooke, Ridge accuses. Brooke steps in and says she's had enough! She wants to go home. Ridge offers to take her, but she declines. This has been the longest day of her life, so she needs time to herself to think and digest this. She has to talk to Bridget, she says, and they all needs some time. She turns and leaves.

Stephanie and Taylor pay a visit to the Shady Marlin.
|
Nick is alone, pouring a drink when Stephanie and Taylor come by. He asks what they want. Stephanie says that she wants Brooke out of their lives. Nick laughs that he's trying to help her. Stephanie points out that Brooke came her looking for him, which means Brooke chose him. But nothing happened, Taylor interjects. Nick tells them that Ridge knows that a woman was there with him, having found Taylor's jacket and shoes. However, he doesn't know that woman was Taylor. Brooke didn't say anything? Taylor asks. She didn't and she won't, Nick assures her. Why wouldn't she? Stephanie asks. Nick guesses they'll have to wait and see. Stephanie can't believe he's being so non-chalant. Brooke chose him, she points out, but he had to mess things up by being with Taylor when Brooke found him. Nick says he explained, but Stephanie doesn't think that matters. She points out that Brooke was furious, and now Brooke is with Ridge! Nick tells her that Brooke wanted to be alone, but Stephanie knows her son, so she's sure that Ridge is on his way to Brooke's now, ready to convince Brooke that she belongs with him.

Nick stands by his choice to give Brooke the space she needs.
|
Nick is confident that Brooke won't be bullied by Ridge into marrying him. Ridge still wants that? Taylor asks. Stephanie scolds Nick and Taylor for their lapse in judgement, which she thinks is bound to put doubts about Nick in Brooke's mind. Nick doesn't think that will happen. Then why isn't Brooke here? Stephanie asks, pointing out to Nick that he and Brooke are now back to square one! Nick tells her to shut up! Stephanie can't believe he is acting this way and wonders what Brooke even sees in him. She sees a man who loves her, he says, and a man who respects her wishes when she asked for some space. That's why he's giving her that space. And in doing so, Stephanie says, he has underestimated Ridge. She tells Taylor they're leaving. Taylor pauses to look for her shoes and then leaves with Stephanie. Nick is left behind, throwing his cigar against the wall.

Ridge asks Brooke to accept their destiny.
|
When Brooke arrives home, she is shocked to find Ridge there, waiting for her in the shadows. He says that he can't let Brooke go. She tells him that they can talk about this later, but he wants to talk about it now. He wants his honeymoon with her and reminds her that they would be married if Nick hadn't stopped the wedding. Brooke thinks he wants to pretend that nothing happened. He says that he knows what happened: they found their way back to each other, because of a force bigger than both of them. If he's talking about destiny, Brooke says, she's doesn't believe in that anymore. Ridge says that she doesn't mean that, but she reminds him how he walked out on her. But he's here now, he says. She reminds him that she said she needed some space and turns to walk away, but Ridge stops her and tells her that he needs her. It feels right when he's with her, he says. But it doesn't feel right to her, she says, pointing out that she was comforting him. Ridge says that he needed her. But even if he didn't mean to, she accuses, he used his sister's death to try to get her to make a commitment she wasn't ready to make!
Ridge asks if she means that, pointing out that she's always been his safe haven. She asks him to consider that Bridget and Nick ended their marriage. Because Nick was a loser and abandoned Bridget, Ridge says, and he thinks Nick will do the same to her. Brooke asks him not to go there. She says it's late, but Ridge says it's not too late for them. They were here just hours ago getting married, he says, so he can't see why she can't just "fall back" into "them" like usual. Because he hurt her badly when he walked out on her, she says, and she never thought she could open her heart to anyone again. If she's talking about Nick, Ridge doesn't believe that she could open his heart to Nick. He doesn't believe he could love someone like she loved him? she asks Ridge. Ridge replies that they're connected in their souls, and he doesn't believe she can find that with Nick. Brooke says she loves Nick. Ridge says he loves her, and he'd die know if he thought she didn't feel the same way anymore. He tells her that their bags are packed and the Marone jet is waiting, so why doesn't she go and elope with him?

Brooke tells Ridge that she's not ready to make a choice.
|
Brooke turns Ridge down, because she doesn't want to make any more mistakes. Like she did when she left "their" bed to chase after Nick tonight? he asks. Maybe that was for the best, she says. He can't believe that she still can defend Nick after catching that sleazebag with his pants down. She tells him not to act like Nick is a monster, but Ridge thinks Nick is one with the way he dumped Bridget after she lost their child. That's not what happened, Brooke says. She explains that Bridget saw that Nick only wanted to be with her because of the baby and ended the marriage. Giving Nick the change to turn something ugly into something that doesn't stink, Ridge says. Brooke has had enough. She just wants to go up, kiss her children and crawl into bed, so she begs Ridge to please leave. Ridge says he knows he hurt her, but he never thought he couldn't fix that. He asks her if she would have accepted his proposal if Nick was free at the time. She pauses and then answers that she doesn't know. Ridge says he doesn't know who he is without her. She says he's confused. His sister died tonight, so why doesn't he be with his family? She wants him to know that she loves him, she says calmly. Hearing that, Ridge says that he finally knows how she felt when she left him for Taylor. If that's how he feels, Brooke says, she's sorry. They hug, but Ridge pulls away. He says he'll go, but he'll be back. Brooke takes her engagement and wedding rings off and gives them to him, to hold until she's ready. Ridge however won't take his off, since she is his wife in his heart, and he knows that she'll feel the same way when she's ready.
Ridge leaves. Brooke watches him as he goes. Alone, she closes the door and spots her wedding bouquet sitting on one of the chairs. She walks over, picks it up and stares at it, leading her to flash back to the wedding. A tear comes to her eye as she puts the flowers down, looking around the room and thinking about what's happened.
