Nick and Bridget disagree about whether Brooke should go back to Ridge.
Nick returns to the beach house and tries to slip into the bedroom and get undressed when Bridget turns the light on. He asks why she pretended to be asleep. She jokes that a pregnant lady has to get her kicks where she can, so why not watch her husband undress? Nick tells her about his fight with the Marlin's generator. He then says that her mom dropped by and thought that Ridge and Taylor were calling it quits tonight. Bridget says that she doesn't like breakups, even if the people didn't belong together to begin with. Nick tells her that Brooke hopes that Ridge and Taylor can salvage this; Bridget is surprised that her mom wants Ridge with Taylor. She was thinking about the kids, Nick explains. Bridget asks if he could tell what Brooke thought about... About Forrester? he asks. He doesn't think Brooke thought of Ridge at all. Bridget thinks it might be good for her mom to get back with Ridge. Nick doesn't like that idea, because of how Ridge treats Brooke. Bridget thinks her mom has changed and is more self-reliant now, so she wouldn't let Ridge mistreat her. Nick thinks Brooke had that strength all along. But maybe it took someone like him to bring it out, Bridget suggests, just like he brought it out in her. She feels sorry for Taylor and the kids, but she thinks this could be a chance for her mom and Ridge. Nick can't disagree more, not that he thinks Brooke would take Ridge back after the way he walked out on her. But if she does? Bridget asks. Nick says that Ridge has ego of a whale and the attention span of a goldfish. Bridget admits that it's hard to explain her mom's relationship with Ridge, because it's like they speak their own private language. She asks Nick not to be too hard on her mom if she takes Ridge back. He reluctantly agrees, since all he wants is for Brooke to be happy.

Stephanie presumes that Ridge is there to break her heart.
Ridge arrives at the Forrester mansion. Stephanie hears the noise and calls out, thinking it's Eric. Ridge tells her that it's him. Stephanie comes down and finds him by the bar; she asks if he's drinking. No, he says, since he needs a clear head. She asks why, so he tells her that he just returned from Big Bear, where he was with his wife and kids, and where he broke their hearts. Stephanie presumes he's here to break her heart now. That's right, he says. Stephanie senses that he's tired. It hasn't been an easy day, he says. That happens with marriages, she says. He says that it's over for him and Taylor. She says that he just feels betrayed because of what happened with James, but he says that everything changed when he lost to Taylor to that bullet. He lost who he needed to be that night, he tells his mother, but she never understood that. Otherwise, she would have seen how wrong it was to trick him into being the man he was back then again. Stephanie asks if he's blaming her for this mess. He asks when she stopped being his mother. Never, she says. He asks when her happiness became more important than his, since that's what she did by faking that heart attack. She says she apologized, even though she thought what she was doing was best for everyone. Ridge tells her to try being his mother now, by letting it go, since he doesn't have that many more chances to be happy. She says that's all she's ever wanted for him. Ridge reminds her that he was happy with Brooke - and she knew it, but she couldn't stand it.

Ridge tells Stephanie that he will ask Brooke to remarry him.
Stephanie says he only thought he was happy with Brooke and reminds him what Brooke did to Eric. Ridge reminds her what he did to Brooke. Stephanie reminds him of all the times he told her that Taylor was the love of his life. She thinks he had every right to be angry about the cruel way his life with Taylor ended, but... He says that he loves Brooke and always has. She thinks he's just reacting to finding out that his wife isn't perfect, but he tells her to stop. He tells her that he's going to ask Brooke to marry him. She asks how he can just jump from one marriage into another. He reminds her that she knows why his life with Brooke was interrupted. But Brooke isn't available to him or any other man, she says, because whatever went on between Brooke and Nick isn't over. Ridge says that Brooke only turned to Nick after he [Ridge] turned his back on her. That's why he wants to seize the moment with her now. Stephanie tells him that she IS listening to him and urges him to at least grieve about this for a while. He says that he's grieving about a marriage that should never have been, and of giving up his happiness for hers. He knows he can't change her mind, but Brooke IS going to be his wife, and he expects her to treat Brooke with respect and consideration. Or if hating Brooke is more important to her than his happiness, he wants her to tells him now. But if he has to choose, he warns, she might not like the result.

Brooke says that she doesn't want Ridge back.
Up at Big Bear, Brooke asks why Taylor is so angry with her. Taylor says it might be because she just had to tell her kids that their parents couldn't find a way to stay married. Brooke says that she didn't want this and suggests that there might be time to find Ridge and show him that he's not thinking clearly. Taylor tells her to stop playing this charade of being her friend and not a vulture, since she's not buying this image of Brooke coming to her rescue. Brooke says she doesn't want to take Taylor's husband. The only reason she came here was out of concern for Taylor's kids. She fears how the kids will react to losing their mother after waiting so long to get her back. Taylor says she'll still be here, so they won't lose her. And they won't lose Ridge either, she promises, no matter how short a leash Brooke keeps him on. Brooke says again that she doesn't want Ridge. She loves him as a friend and as RJ's father, but that's it. Taylor thinks that Brooke really believes that, even though it's only a matter of time before "destiny" calls Brooke to set her sights on Ridge again, so why not follow that destiny now?

Brooke says she knows Taylor is upset, but she doesn't like being called a liar. Taylor quips that Brooke is too creative to be called a liar. Brooke says it was a mistake to come here. Taylor asks Brooke if she expected her thanks. She thinks even a "Psych 101 dropout" would see Brooke for the homewrecker she is. Brooke says she would have Ridge by now if she wanted. Taylor accuses Brooke of hiding her intentions as something else, so as not to be called the Forrester family whore! Brooke asks if Taylor is calling a whore; Taylor ducks the question, going on about how Brooke came her pretending she was concerned for the children, so she would look innocent. Brooke starts looking around and asks Taylor where it was that it happened between her and James. Taylor says that Brooke couldn't understand what happened between her and James. Brooke asks why she's a whore when she sleeps with a man, but when Taylor does it, she's making a beautiful sacrifice. Taylor retorts that Brooke didn't just sleep with a man; she slept with an entire gene pool, going from father to son to brother to half brother and back again. She doesn't even think psychiatry has a name for Brooke's disorder. Brooke says she knows the one for Taylor's: Conceited Bitch!

Brooke tells Taylor that she could care less what happens to Taylor, but she came there for Thomas and the twins, who she was a mother to. Taylor says she thanked Brooke for that, but Brooke counters that Taylor kicked her out of her own home and looked the other way when Stephanie tried to bury her. Taylor says that was after Brooke stole her husband again. She's amazed at how Brooke plays the victim when something gets in her way to self-gratification. Brooke says that Taylor looks at people like specimens in a glass case. Taylor says that her clinical training and beliefs gets in the way of her gut feeling that some people, like Brooke, are no damned good! Brooke observes the ugliness in Taylor, an ugliness that no one truly knows. Taylor thinks everyone knows Brooke and her penchant for chasing destiny and she wonders if destiny will this time lead Brooke to Nick, or to Ridge. Brooke says she doesn't need a man, but Taylor says that Brooke is like a cowpie, with a life full of men buzzing around her like flies. She bets Brooke is proud of not sleeping with her son-in-law - YET. She asks how healthy it is to be attracted to her own son-in-law, and then Brooke has the nerve to act like she doesn't want Ridge, claiming concern for Taylor's kids, who Brooke has shown little interest in since leaving the house in tears. She hopes she made it worth Brooke's trip.

Taylor lashes out at her rival.
Brooke recalls how she used to think Taylor was good. She never blamed Taylor for the things Stephanie said, even though Taylor benefited from them. She thought Taylor was too good to stand up to Stephanie, but now she sees that Taylor is just like Stephanie. Taylor thinks there's lots to admire in Stephanie. Like her principles when she sneaks around behind your back, Brooke says, or her viciousness when found out, or the lack of respect when somebody can't measure up to your standards. She thinks about how Taylor and Stephanie counted her and her marriage for nothing. Taylor says she may have shortcomings, but at least she has standards. Stephanie says the same thing, Brooke claims, and she predicts Taylor will wind up just like Stephanie, alone! Taylor says that's because of Brooke hovering around her marriage, with her crises designed to pull Ridge in. Brooke says Taylor should blames herself for the end of her deathbed marriage, with vows as fake as Stephanie's heart attack. She tells Taylor that men don't want perfection. They want warmth, trust and a little fun, which is why she thinks Taylor was more competition for her when she was in the grave. She always wondered why Ridge missed Taylor so. Taylor takes off her wedding band and gives it to Brooke, telling Brooke to go ahead and give Ridge the warmth and trust she's shared with so many other man. The ring will save Brooke a trip to the jeweler, Taylor retorts, telling Brooke to take the ring and the name that was hers and have the last laugh on Stephanie. She laughs at Brooke having everything she wanted, but being too proud to take it. She guesses that Brooke's years of flirting and begging and wiggling and jiggling have finally paid off, so why doesn't Brooke take Ridge and score one for the "whores of the world"? As for the rest of them, Taylor adds, God help them.
