Stephanie make a surprising declaration.
At the Forrester mansion, Stephanie laments to Eric about Ridge and Taylor splitting up. She knows Ridge is upset with Taylor, but she can't see how two people who are so right for each other can let their marriage slip through their fingers. Eric says that some things just aren't meant to be. Like Brooke and Ridge, she says. He know she doesn't want to believe in them, but she has to wonder if Taylor does, which is why she's not fighting Ridge on this. Stephanie says that Taylor wants to move on; she thinks Taylor must be stronger than her, but Eric disagrees. To prove her point, Stephanie tells him how Taylor, through all the chaos in her life, had a moment of clarity that this war has to end, before it consumes any more of their lives. She's thought about it, and she agrees with Taylor - and that's why it's time to end her fight with Brooke. Eric is stunned! Stephanie explains that she'll never think that Brooke is better for Ridge than Taylor, but she sees now that it's Ridge's mistake to make. So she won't interfere? he asks. Since when has that stopped the children from making mistakes? she replies. As Felicia approaches the room and listens in, Eric chuckles and inquires if she's asking him. She responds that she's looked at her life and has seen that all the pain and grief accomplished little. Brooke is still in their lives, even after Ridge and Taylor renewed their vows and she took over Forrester, In the past, Eric notes, that would have fueled her fires. After seeing how little her efforts have accomplished, Stephanie says, she can only think about the grief they could have been spared had she realized this sooner. Better late than never, Eric says, hugging her.

Eric is stunned by Felicia's request.
Felicia comes out and quips that her mother is no longer going to interfere in her kids' lives, just when Felicia has so little time left. Stephanie says she's done fighting what she can't change. Even Ridge's connection to Brooke? Felicia asks. Yes, Stephanie replies. Felicia thinks her mother must be putting her on, but Stephanie says there are more important things for her to do. Felicia jokes that she won't be around to distract her mother forever. Stephanie says Felicia is her top priority, not a distraction. Eric tells Stephanie that no one ever questioned her loyalty to the family. Maybe they should have, she says. When she thinks about all the time she wasted trying to warn him about Brooke, she thinks she changed at some point from his wife to his drill sergeant. They both share the blame, Eric says. Stephanie wishes she could go back and change things. They can, Felicia says. She reminds them how close they were at Christmas. Maybe it's having death stare her in the face, she speculates. but she thinks things would be easier if they could just strip away the clutter in their lives and surround themselves with love. She knows she wants Dominick to be around people who love him. And he will, Stephanie vows. They already proved that at Christmas, Eric says. But they can do better, Felicia says. She thinks about how the family seems whole when her parents are together, and she wants both Dominick and herself to have a chance to see that. That's why she wants them to get remarried!

Both Eric and Stephanie are unsure if that's a good idea. If they won't do it for themselves, Felicia says, do it for her. They can get divorced after she's gone, she says. But she doesn't think they will, since they always seem to pull together in a crisis. And if they're going to pull the family together for support when she's gone, she asks, why not do it now? She reminds Stephanie that she said she wanted her leaving to be one big party. Is there are a better way to make that happen, she asks, than by her being able to dance at their wedding? Stephanie is still unsure. Felicia looks to Eric, who relents and says they'll do it, leading to a group hug.

Jackie advises Nick to focus on his wife and unborn child, and not on Ridge.
At Jackie-M, Jackie reminds Nick that he can't think about Brooke and Hope when his wife is about to bring his daughter into the world. Nick says that Bridget and his unborn daughter will be fine. But he also cares about Hope like she's his own, so he can't bear to think about the damage Ridge can cause by whipping into that little girl's life like a hurricane. He thinks Brooke and her kids need a man they can count on, and that man isn't Ridge! Jackie goes to check on Hope; she soon comes back and tells Nick that Hope is helping Andrea unpack the Forrester shipment. Nick wonders what it is about little girls and fancy dresses. Jackie laughs and explains that they all want to dress up and feel like princesses, although she doesn't see much of that in Forrester's latest designs. Is it bad? Nick asks. It's better than she expected given Stephanie's ideas for the company, she admits, which she guesses must be because of Eric's influence. Nick asks if she's bothered by Eric working closely with Stephanie. Jackie says that those two are like sworn enemies being forced to work together. They weren't forced to be together at Christmas, Nick points out, reminding his mom that Brooke isn't the only woman he looks after. He hopes Eric is treating her right. She assures him that Eric is, despite the fact that his daughter is dying. So thinks are OK with Eric? Nick asks. They're progressing, Jackie says, although she doesn't want to get her hopes up, since she already made that mistake before Eric remarried Brooke. Nick thinks Eric would have to be crazy to choose Stephanie over his mom. Jackie agrees that she doesn't see much chance of Eric and Stephanie getting back together. Nick looks at his phone. Jackie asks if he's waiting for a call. He says that Brooke promised to call when Ridge left, and he hasn't heard from her yet.

Ridge tries to convince Brooke that they belong together.
Ridge is still at Brooke's house, trying to convince her that he wants a life with her, Hope and RJ. Brooke says that there was a time where she would have taken him back with open arms after an apology and a kiss, but she's not that woman anymore. She spent a lifetime waiting for the time when they could be together, but when it finally came, he abandoned her. She thinks their time is past and asks if he expected her to be pining away for him, like some dutiful lap dog. Of course not, he says. Then how can he be here, she asks, asking her to marry him, when less than 24 hours have passed since he ended his marriage to Taylor? Ridge says he doesn't need time to think about this, because his place is here, with her. And what makes him think he wants her? she asks. And how can he think they can just pick up where they left off? Ridge admits he may have jumped the gun, but he thinks the spark is still there between them. He thinks even Nick sees it, which is why Nick is so overprotective of her. Brooke tells him that it isn't going to happen. Ridge asks her to think back to the life they planned when RJ was born. Isn't that what she wants for her and her kids? he asks. He know that he hurt her, and he regrets that. Brooke says that she's not punishing him. But she's pushing him away, he counters. Brooke knows he's not used to hearing this, but she's saying no. To a life she's dreamt about all her life? he asks. Brooke thinks what's done is done. Maybe for other couples, Ridge says, but not for them. Through all their history, he reminds her, they always find their way back. Not this time, she says, because this isn't something that can be fixed by an apology and a kiss.

Brooke tells Ridge that they had their chance.
Ridge thinks she needs proof. What she needs, she says, is for him to leave, since he proposed and she turned him down. But they can get back what they had, Ridge says. Brooke says she can't. Ridge asks her to let him have a fresh start. He doesn't get it, she says. No, Ridge says, he doesn't, since he can't understand why she would deprive their son of the chance to grow up with his father. Brooke retorts that HE denied their son that chance when he chose Taylor. But he's not with Taylor now, he says. That's why he wants to be with her, and fix the damage he did. No matter what it takes, he vows, he'll protect her from his mother, Taylor or anyone who opposes their relationship. She'll never have to look over her shoulder again, he adds. Brooke tells him that he's on the rebound after learning about what happened with Taylor and James. That was just the last straw, Ridge says. He tells Brooke that he loves her and always will. Yet he didn't say anything until he found out that Taylor slept with another man, she responds. He asks if she knows why he stayed away for the holidays. It was because he knew his marriage was in trouble and had to come to terms with that, he replies. He was trying to find that connection that he and Taylor needed to give their marriage one more try, but then he found out about Hector, and about James. That was proof that his marriage was in trouble and had been for a long time. He thinks that deep down, he knew that, just like he knew his place was here with her [Brooke] and always has been. He kisses her and pulls her close to him.
