Ridge spends some time with RJ.
Ridge is in the living room at Brooke's house, holding RJ. He flashes back to RJ's birth but his brought back to reality by Brooke, who comes downstairs and asks why he's there. he says that he wanted to see RJ - and her. He tells her that something happened between him and Taylor last night. She says that she knows, because she went to the cabin to stop him from making a huge mistake, but was too late. Ridge says that he and Taylor just couldn't make it work. Try harder, Brooke tells him. Ridge thinks that would be futile, because there's someplace else he should be. Placing RJ in a playpen, Ridge reminds Brooke that they share a child and built a family. He sees now that he belongs with her, Hope and RJ, so he hopes she'll forgive him and take him back. Brooke asks how he can just end his marriage and expect to pick up with her where they left off. He thinks thinks are different between them. Brooke says that SHE'S different, because things have changed. But they shouldn't have, Ridge says. He should have ended things with Taylor once he learned how his mother manipulated him. But he didn't, Brooke states. Ridge that was the biggest mistake of his life; he wanted to please everyone, but pleased no one, especially her. He reminds her that they were once happy, and he vows to do that again if she takes him back.

Hope is glad to see Ridge.
Before Brooke can answer, Nick and Hope (who's wearing Nick's sailor hat) return from a trip to the pier for some Belgian Waffles. Hope is glad to see Ridge and offers him some, but Brooke says that he has some things to talk to Mommy about first. Like what? Nick asks. Brooke ducks the question by picking RJ up from the playpen and handing him to Ridge, asking him to take the kids in the kitchen for some waffles. But they were talking, Ridge says. She tells says she needs a minute with Nick first, so Ridge takes the kids to the kitchen. Once they're gone, Nick notes that Ridge wasn't wearing his wedding ring, which tells him that Ridge has left Taylor and is here to ask Brooke to take him back. He again tells her what a mistake that would be. Brooke says she's handling it. Nick says he'll handle it for her, by tossing Ridge out! No, Brooke says, he won't. Nick concedes that Ridge is RJ father, but he sees that Ridge wants more than that and isn't going to let that happen! Ridge walks in with Hope, who's wearing a beret that Ridge bought her in Paris. Brooke sees how cute she looks and suggests that Uncle Nick take her to show the new hat to Aunt Jackie. "Can we?" Hope asks. Nick says that he wants to talk to Ridge outside first, but Brooke says she can handle things here and tells him to go. As Nick leads Hope out, Ridge tells him not to forget his sailor hat. The two men stare at each other for a moment, and Nick and Hope then leave.

Jackie is surprised to learn of Ridge and Taylor's breakup.
Nick brings Hope to the Jackie-M boutique on Rodeo Drive, where his mother is ending a call to "Oscar." As in cousin Oscar? Nick asks. De La Renta, Jackie explains. She then greets Hope and compliments her on her beret. It itches, Hope says. Of course it does, Nick says, since Ridge gave it to her. He offers her the sailor's hat, but Jackie prefers the beret. She then asks one of her employees, Andrea, to take Hope to her office while she chats with her son. Once they're alone, Jackie asks what's going on. Nick tells her that Ridge and Taylor have split up.

Nick worries about what could happen if Brooke takes Ridge back.
Poor Taylor, Jackie reacts. That should be "Poor Brooke," Nick states, since that's who's at home right now with Ridge, who's trying to worm his way back into Brooke's life. Jackie says that Ridge might be there for other reasons, but Nick knows that Ridge only has one thing on his mind. He fears that Brooke will be hurt again. So will his wife, Jackie warns, if he gets caught up in Brooke's drama instead of focusing on Bridget. Nick says this has nothing to do with Bridget. It's just that he cares about Hope like she was his own, and he fears what will happen if Ridge comes back into Hope's life and then disappears again. Jackie assures them that Brooke won't fall for that. If she does, Nick vows, Ridge will answer to him!

Stephanie urges Taylor to fight.
Taylor is sitting alone in her living room. She doesn't even get up to answer the doorbell. After a second try, Stephanie lets herself in and calls out for Taylor. Spotting a sullen Taylor sitting there, Stephanie tells her that Ridge stopped by, so she knows what happened. It's over, Taylor tells her. No it's not, Stephanie says. She thinks Ridge is just angry at everyone; he even threatened to kick her out of his life if she didn't accept Brooke. He's going back to her, Taylor says. Stephanie tells Taylor to get up and get ready for the fight of her life, to get her husband back from Brooke. No! Taylor insists, telling Stephanie that she's tired of fighting. She explains how her life stood still when she was away, so she still had the image of the perfect life she wanted in her mind. But Ridge moved on with Brooke, and now she sees that he turn to move on, too - and she thinks Stephanie should do the same. Stephanie tells Taylor that she still has lots to fight for. Taylor says she's done fighting. She knows this will be hard for Stephanie to hear after all her efforts to get Brooke out of their lives, but it has to stop. Taylor will always cherish the time she had with Ridge, raising their family, but that time has past. She needs to move on now, and so does Stephanie, for their own sakes. It's time for them to put down their weapons and make new, wonderful lives for themselves, and they can do that together. The two women embrace.

Dante tries to cheer Taylor up.
After Stephanie leaves, Taylor gets a visit from Dante, who has brought her favorite rose. He explains that he heard from Bridget that she and Ridge were having problems and thought he could cheer her up. Taylor tells her that they ended their marriage last night. As hard as they tried, it just wasn't working. Dante says that he can relate, since he left his life in Italy behind thinking that he could make Bridget happy, but it just wasn't meant to be. Taylor says that she sensed that things weren't right with Ridge, but everything they'd been through gave her faith that they could overcome their problems. And that faith is what kept her focused in her quest to get home, Dante recalls. She had one goal that she would have done anything to achieve, and that determination may have saved her life. With his help, Taylor adds. And now, here is is again. As they sit on the couch, Dante says that he hates seeing her like this, but Taylor says that she'll be OK. Dante quotes some proverb in Italian and explains that it means, "Not everything that was bad will come back and hurt you." Taylor smiles at him.

Back at Brooke's, Ridge asks Brooke about Nick's wanting to take him outside. She says that Nick is just looking out for her, as he fears that Ridge wants to sweep her off her feet. Ridge teases that he would never do that. Brooke tells him again that they had their time is past and tells him to go home to his wife. He claims that with Taylor, he was just confused. Brooke says that she's not. Ridge says he knows he let her down. And she accepted his apology, Brooke points out. Ridge thinks she deserves more than that. He reminds her that they had a family until he turned his back on them, and he wants a chance to make it up to her. She says she gave him a chance after she exposed Stephanie's fake heart attack, but he chose Taylor. Things are different, he claims. Brooke looks him in the eye and tells him that he hurt her more than anybody ever has and she won't put herself in that position again. She tells him to go home and pray that Taylor will take him back, since she won't.

Ridge pleads with Brooke to forgive him and take him back.
Ridge however refuses to leave. He tells Brooke that he's not going back to Taylor. He says that walking way from her and their family was the most difficult thing he ever did. When she left the house, he loved her as much as he ever did. And manipulated or not, he and Taylor took vows, so he had an obligation to uphold them, but that's all it was. Brooke tells him that Taylor hurt him by lying, but she thinks they can work past that if he goes back to Taylor. Ridge tells her that he can't work past his love for her. A love that couldn't keep him from leaving, Brooke reminds him. Ridge admits he messed up, but he really thinks he belongs here, which is why he hopes she can forgive him. Brooke tells him it's too late, so he should go home. He says his home is here, with her, RJ and Hope. Brooke says no, so he asks her to marry him, to give their son his father back. Brooke says she can't do this. Ridge says they can and kisses her. Brooke starts to respond but pulls away, asking him to please leave her alone.
