Hope tells her mother how she feels.
|
Brooke is in her bedroom, wearing a robe and sipping her coffee. She smiles at the thought that she'll soon be Mrs. Forrester. Hope comes in and asks her mom why everything looks so fancy downstairs. Brooke reminds her younger daughter that she told her about the wedding today. Will Uncle Nick be there? Hope asks. Brooke regretfully tells her that Nick won't be there. Hope asks if she has to go. Brooke knows that Hope loves and misses Uncle Nick, but she explains that Nick can't be there all the time. Hope says that she wishes Brooke was marrying Uncle Nick. Brooke reminds Hope that she loves Ridge, too. Hope says that she does, but she'd still rather see her mom marry Uncle Nick. Brooke tries to change the subject and asks Hope if she wants to be the flower girl. Hope says that she has school. Brooke says she can miss a day, but Hope would rather go to school. Brooke tells her that Uncle Nick will always be a part of their lives and will live in their hearts, but sometimes you just can't have what your heart really wants. She gets teary as she hugs Hope.

Ridge assures his dad that he and Brooke are not rushing things.
|
Meanwhile, Ridge arrives downstairs and watches the people moving about to prepare for the wedding. Eric comes over and comments on how fast everything is happening; he asks Ridge if he's sure he's not rushing things. Ridge says it's past time that he and Brooke remarried. Eric wonders about Brooke's lingering feelings for... Ridge cuts him off and assures him that Nick is the furthest thing from Brooke's mind.
Brooke is upstairs putting on her makeup when Stephanie comes in. Brooke hopes that Stephanie isn't here again just to convince her to stop the wedding. Stephanie says that she has to do this. Brooke is again shocked that Stephanie is encouraging her to go after her daughter's husband. But Nick is free now, Stephanie points out. Brooke says that Bridget needs Nick more than ever after what they've been through. What Bridget needs, Stephanie insists, is the truth! She reminds Brooke that being married to Eric didn't change her feelings for Nick, and she doesn't think this marriage will change that, either. Brooke doesn't want to hear another word. Ridge walks in and says that he doesn't, either! He is stunned that his mother is here trying to stop his wedding. Stephanie asks Brooke to at least talk to Nick. Brooke refuses, saying that Bridget and Nick are committed to one another and nothing will change that. She is sure that their latest tragedy will not derail their marriage. Ridge says that today isn't even about Nick and Bridget. Stephanie agrees: she thinks it's about Nick and BROOKE. Ridge asks his mother to leave, so she does. Brooke tells Ridge that maybe they should have eloped. Maybe they should have eloped, Brooke says. Ridge says they've done that, but Brooke thinks it might have been better given what's happened recently with Bridget and Felicia. With all the tragedy around them lately, Ridge thinks the family really needs this wedding. He asks Brooke if they're still on. She says "yes." He promises her again that he'll never take her for granted or let her down again. He then gives her a kiss and leaves to allow her to get ready.

Massimo is stunned by Jackie's revelation.
|
Thorne, Darla, Massimo, Jackie and Sally are gathered downstairs. Darla wonders if Bridget is helping Brooke get ready, but Jackie doesn't think Bridget is up to that. Thorne asks why not, since he thought Bridget and Nick were doing better. Jackie explains that they got some bad news last night, and... She tries to stop herself, but then realizes that the cat's out of the bag, so she explains that Nick and Bridget found out that Nick is not Dominick's father, but Dante is. Everyone is stunned, especially Massimo. Jackie tells them about Dante and Felicia's brief fling. It must have been brief if Fifi didn't know, Sally quips. Mass is angry that Jackie didn't tell him sooner and asks how their son is. She says he and Bridget are both devastated. Stephanie interrupts, realizing that Mass knows about Dante. He says that this is preposterous. Stephanie says she was going to say the same thing about the wedding. Ridge comes over and asks Jackie to help Brooke get ready. Jackie asks why Bridget isn't doing that. Ridge says she isn't there, and they can't wait for her to get here, either. He asks Eric to get everyone seated so they can begin.

Stephanie takes a call as Eric tells her that the wedding is starting.
|
Shortly after, Jackie comes down and says that the bride is ready. She tells them that Bridget probably isn't coming, and Brooke doesn't want to wait. Stephanie asks why they are rushing things. Jackie agrees that things seem a bit rushed. Stephanie is concerned that it seems like Ridge and Brooke are trying to just get this over, and she wonders why no one else is concerned about that. Before she can say any more, she gets a call on her cell. The minister asks everyone to turn off their phones so they can get started, but Stephanie steps aside to take her call. She asks the caller if there is any news; she listens to the response and thanks them for calling, but she tries to explain that she can't talk now. Eric comes over as she hangs up the phone and tells her that the wedding is starting. She asks him why supporting this mistake of a wedding? Eric asks her to stop. Nothing will stop this wedding, he assures her.

Brooke prepares to walk down the aisle.

Everyone takes their seats as Ridge takes his place next to the minister. He looks upstairs as Brooke comes to the top of the steps. She smiles down at him.

Bridget tells Nick that she's giving him what he needs.
|
At the beach house, Nick arrives and finds Bridget outside, sipping tea. He asks how she is; she says she didn't sleep much last night, since she was up thinking. Nick says that he was thinking, too, and he knows that he still loves her. Bridget says that she knows that, and she never doubted his love for a minute. Then why don't they change their mind about ending their marriage and try to fix things? Nick asks. Because she can't go on with this marriage if he won't TRY to be a father to Dominick, she says, and not when she knows he's in love with her mother. Nick says that he wants to save their marriage but Bridget urges him to accept the reality of their situation. She's made up her mind. She refuses to give up Dominick just because he's another man's son. Nick can't believe that she would end things because he doesn't want to raise someone else's son. She says that it's a shame that he doesn't, because he'll make a wonderful father. Nick says that he wants to be a father. And he can be, Bridget says... to Hope. He can have a family with her mom, Hope and RJ, she explains, because she's letting him go. She's doing this so he can be happy. Nick protests, but deep down, she thinks he knows he loves her mother. Now he doesn't have to hide it anymore, she says. She tells him that she'll always remember their time together. He gave her exactly what she needed and now she's doing the same for him: a life with her mother.
Nick tells Bridget that it's too late, because Brooke won't betray her to take him back. But it's not a betrayal, she says, because she's letting him go. It's not a test, either. She just wants him to be happy. She takes his hand and removes his wedding ring. He doesn't know what to say. She tells him that whatever he has to say should be said to her mother, before the wedding.
Wedding? Nick asks. Bridget tells him that her mother is marrying Ridge today. Nick is stunned! Bridget assures him that it's true: her mother will marry Ridge today, unless Nick stops it - which is why she wants Nick to stop the wedding!
