Brooke is surprised by Ridge's arrogance.
Ridge stops by Brooke's house after taking Hope from skating class to swim class. He asks why the classes have to be across town from each other, Brooke jokes that it's because the universe delights in persecuting him. Drying her arms, she tells him that she just gave RJ a bath. He says that he already bathed RJ today. But he got into something green and needed another, Brooke answers. Ridge wonders how much use he is if anything he does has to be redone. That's parenting, Brooke reminds him. He asks how Bridget is doing. Brooke replies that Nick and Bridget need some quiet time now. She thanks him for being so empathetic with Nick in the hospital. He says he was reminded of when they lost a child, as he's sure she was. He thinks he often finds himself thinking of similar situations; for instance, he and Hope saw someone changing a tire, and he remembered doing that with Brooke, dressed in gown and tuxedo. Brooke recalls that she was the only one who knew how to use the jack. Still, Ridge says, it seems like he never enjoys anything as much while he's away as he does at home, and that includes his life with her. He knows he hurt her so badly that she thought, and maybe she still does, that she was in love with Nick. But he can forgive her for that. Stunned, Brooke asks how he could be so arrogant as to think that she did anything that requires his forgiveness. Ridge apologizes; he didn't want to make it sound like she committed a crime. He was just pointing out that she loses her way when she's not with him.

Ridge thinks he knows what Brooke wants.
Brooke tells Ridge that she needed to be without him to find her way. What she and Nick had, she says, was not some mistake on the rebound, and she doubts Ridge can even understand what she and Nick had. Then why isn't she with Nick now? Ridge asks. Brooke says that she's done talking about this. Ridge tells her this isn't a silly flirtation for him. He left his wife and kids for her, and if that can't be, he thinks he deserves to know why, even if it's because of Nick. She asks if he would ever think she's pursue Nick. To the contrary, he points out that unlike so many other, he never once accused her of trying to steal her daughter's husband, because he knows she understands that Nick belongs to Bridget. But if Nick was the man Brooke thinks he is, Ridge says, he would have done the same as Ridge and thrown everything over for Brooke, and he thinks Brooke knows that. He asks Brooke if she sees herself living here, with him coming over every day or so to visit the kids. He doesn't think she wants that, because he doesn't, and she's just like him. Unlike Taylor, he says, they feel their way through life rather than thinking through it. He thinks Brooke has gotten confused by Nick, by Bridget and even by Eric, and he wants to be her way out, so she can go back to a time when things were simpler. Brooke says that things were never simple between them. Things got in the way, Ridge says. But now they're both free, if she'll only say "yes" to him. Brooke stares at him and then says that she thinks he should go, but Ridge doesn't think that's what she wants at all.

Bridget tearfully tells Nick that she wants to right a wrong.
Bridget stands outside the beach house, recalling the time she lied to Nick that she had an abortion. Inside the house, Nick calls to her that he's packed the baby stuff up for the shelter. Bridget comes in and says she's glad they'll be put to good use. She asks Nick if he believes that things happen for a reason. Nick says he can't figure God out. Bridget says she's not blaming God. She's blaming herself, because she used their daughter! She thinks she loved Nicole too late, because she used their baby as a device to test his love for her, and when the answer wasn't what she wanted... Nick grabs her and tells her not to tell him that he doesn't love her. But they wouldn't be together if she wasn't pregnant, she says, and they both know that. Nick tells her not to unravel what they have, but she thinks she's just honoring Nicole's memory by undoing the wrong around their baby. He thought loving her was the price he had to pay for fatherhood, she says, and she let him do it, which is why she wants to give him his freedom to leave her. Nick tells her that he refuses to believe that they got together for the wrong reasons. He thinks there are things other than love that bring people together, like vanity, sex, fear, loneliness or ego. They faced all that, he reminds her, but it didn't tear them apart. While he admits he made his share of mistakes, his world changed when he found out she was pregnant. And it changed again yesterday, Bridget says, but Nick points out that HE didn't change.

Nick tries to reassure Bridget.
Nick sits by the front door and looks at Bridget, knocked out at her guts after what they went through yesterday. He just wishes she had faith, but he thinks that's doing. Bridget asks how he can admire her right now. She admits that she loves him and the life they wanted to have, but looking back, she knows that life wasn't the one he really wanted. She wants to give him the chance to have the life he wants now. Nick goes over to the couch, kisses Bridget on the forehead and tells her that she's his wife. But their child is dead, Bridget protests. But they aren't, Nick says. He puts her hands on his chest and asks her to feel his heart, a heart that beats because he wants to be with her, provided she lets him in. But everything holding them together is gone, Bridget insists. Nick says that it's still here. He knows she's lost so much that she's pushing him away, so she won't lose even more. But he won't let her do that. And if she doesn't love him, he says, then she can love Dominick. Bridget tells Nick that she does love him. It's just that she doesn't want to be alive now. She worries that she might resent Dominick, because he lived while Nicole didn't. Nick doesn't think that will happen, because he knows she loves that little boy. Nothing is going to take Dominick away from them, he assures Bridget.

Felicia gets a visit from Dante.
But over at the Forrester mansion, Felicia uses her walker to get to the door and finds Dante there. Felicia lets him in and asks why he didn't tell her that Nick's marriage to Bridget marriage was shaky. Dante says that there's stuff they need to discuss, so why don't they discuss it now. Felicia tells him he's awfully sweet, but he's in the wrong movie. She's not some tragic beauty waiting to collapse into some strong man's arms, but rather, is bitter, difficult, sickly bitch who only cares about her son's future. Dante asks how she knows that's not his subject, too.
Dante is concerned for Felicia's son.
Felicia gives Dante a questioning look. He says that she thinks her son's future depends on Nick and Bridget's marriage, but there is something she's overlooking. He reminds her of their night in Nice and says it meant more than they knew. Felicia wants to be clear that there can be nothing between them. Dante says he knows that. He was talking about her son. She asks why he cares about her son. He thinks it's something natural, but she thinks that it's creepy and morbid for him to be drawn to her because of her illness. Dante says that he likes her, but not the way she thinks. Then what's so critical for them to discuss? she asks. Her son's future, Dante answers, since it may not be what she had in mind for him. Felicia looks at him, looking puzzled.
