Brooke assures Eric that her feelings for Nick are behind her.
At Forrester, Brooke pops through the door connecting her office to Eric's to go over some sales figures, but she finds him sitting at his desk, distracted. She asks what's wrong. He tells her that he was thinking all night about how Stephanie saw her with Nick at Big Bear. She assures him that it wasn't planned; she went there to think, like she often does, while Nick went back to the place where he fell in love with Bridget. Even if it was a chance meeting, Eric asks, what will happen the next time she just happens to run into Nick? Brooke assures him that she and Nick have put their feelings behind them, but Eric wonders how they can guarantee that. If there's even a chance that she and Nick will give into temptation, he says, then maybe they should tell Bridget the truth. The truth, Brooke says, is that Nick DOES love Bridget and wants her to be happy. She admits she and Nick still have feelings, but she's sure they will get over those in time. She's positive that Nick will be a wonderful husband to Bridget and a caring father to their child, so she asks Eric to please believe in her. He says that he does, and he also knows how much she loves Bridget. That's why he'll support her decision to keep this away Bridget. Brooke thanks him, but Eric makes a suggestion that she put as much distance as possible between Nick and her.

Bridget doesn't want to hear Stephanie's accusations.
Bridget stops by the Forrester mansion. Stephanie asks if she got any sleep last night. Bridget says she got a little. Stephanie says it must be hard to walk away from Nick now. Bridget says that's not why she's here. She tells Stephanie that she knows what's best for herself, which is why she's chosen to believe her mom and Nick. That's why she wants Stephanie to stop interfering in her life. Stephanie says she only has Bridget's best interests at heart. Like she had Ridge and Taylor's when she faked a heart attack? Bridget asks. Stephanie admits she was wrong. But that showed how much Stephanie could alienate the people she loves over Brooke, Bridget suggests, and she thinks Stephanie is doing it again now. She assures Stephanie that she's put any issues she had with her mom behind her. Stephanie asks how she can be so sure. Bridget reminds her that she tested her mom and Nick; they could have easily gotten together after she lied about having an abortion, but they didn't. "How do you know?" Stephanie asks. Bridget says they told her, but Stephanie reminds her that her mom has lied to her before. Bridget insists that her mom and Nick passed the test, but Stephanie warns her not to bury her head in the sand and be foolish about this. She tells Bridget to think about the baby and consider that something happened between Brooke and Nick. And if something did happen, she adds, she thinks Bridget deserves to know the truth.

Stephanie says that her instincts tell her that something happened between Brooke and Nick, but Bridget refuses to go there. Stephanie says that she knows what she saw at Big Bear, but Bridget thinks Stephanie is letting her anger and bitterness toward Brooke color her perception. Stephanie hopes she's wrong, but she doubts that she is. Bridget refuses to listen to this anymore and turns to leave. Stephanie follows and tries to change her mind; she doesn't want Bridget to be blindsided when the baby comes, at which point it will be too late. Bridget doesn't give a damn what Stephanie thinks she saw; she won't let Stephanie undermine her marriage. She knows Nick loves her and is committed to her and their child, so she is sick of listening to Stephanie's accusations. Stephanie says she wouldn't need to make these accusations if Bridget would just open her eyes. Bridget warns Stephanie to stop, before she digs her own grave. She warns that Stephanie had best watch herself if she wants to be part of her life and the baby's. Otherwise, she predicts Stephanie will wind up a lonely old woman. Because she spoke the truth? Stephanie asks. "As defined by you," Bridget says as she turns to leave. Stephanie says, "I'm doing this for you, Bridget," as Bridget slams the door when she leaves.

Dante gives Nick a warning.
Nick is in his office, remembering Brooke telling him how he will see himself and everything he ever wanted to be in his baby once the baby is born, just as she sees that in Bridget. That's why Brooke needed him to let go of her and do the right thing for Bridget and their child. As Nick comes back to reality, Dante knocks on the door. Nick tells him that the dressmakers and dreamers work down the street. Dante retorts that they're fine over there, but he wonders if Nick needs help given what he heard. He heard wrong, Nick insists. Dante thinks it's hard to keep up on what's right with all the distractions Nick has had of late, although he gives Nick credit for finally marrying Bridget. Still, he heard about the "chance encounter" Nick had with Brooke at Big Bear and thinks such encounters should stop. If they don't stop, he'll make sure Nick answers to him. He notes that with all Nick's talk of commitment, the word "love" has not come up. Nick tells him to give it a rest and to stay away from Brooke. Dante wonders what bothers Nick more: is it his interest in Brooke, or in Bridget? He then turns to leave but stops in the door, warning Nick not to let a sweet girl like Bridget down.

Nick runs down the list of people who could tell Stephanie the truth.
Soon after, Brooke drops by to warn Nick about Stephanie's suspicions. She fears that Stephanie will just keep digging until she finds out what happened between her and Nick, and when Stephanie does, she'll run straight to Bridget. Nick asks if she thinks Eric will say anything to Bridget. No, Brooke says, Eric believes in them, so he won't tell Bridget the truth. Still, she feels like Stephanie will keep digging, like a dog looking for its bone, until she finds the truth. Nick tells her not to worry, as there is nothing Stephanie can do to hurt them. Brooke thinks back to the night on the Shady Marlin where she realized that Nick was the one for her; she fears that Stephanie might find out about that night and tell Bridget, twisting their secret into something ugly. She won't find out, Nick says. He then tells Brooke about his visit from Dante earlier, where Dante warned that he would be there for Bridget if she got hurt again. Even if he knew everything that was going on between them, Brooke says, she doesn't think Dante would hurt Bridget by saying anything. Nick hopes she's right. What about his mother? Brooke asks. She's accepted his marriage and won't say anything, Nick says. He tells her that his dad also knows, since he needed someone to confide in, but Massimo won't say anything, either. That just leaves Eric. Brooke assures him that Eric is on their side and would not say anything to Stephanie.

Stephanie demands the truth from Eric.
And speaking of Eric and Stephanie, over at Forrester, Eric finds his work day interrupted by his wife's arrival. She tells him of her suspicion that Brooke and Nick have been sleeping together ever since Bridget tested them by lying about having an abortion. Eric tells her to stop digging for something that isn't there, because there was no sex on that boat that night. The only way he could know that, Stephanie says, is if he knows what DID happen that night. Eric is silent, but Stephanie sees from his face that she's right. He tells her that there was no betrayal. She reminds him how tenacious she is; since he knows she'll just keep digging, she thinks he should come clean now. Eric says the only reason he'd ever consider telling her is to to show her how Brooke is changed, so she could end this witch hunt she's on against Brooke - and even then, he would only do it if she gave him his word not to tell Bridget what he said. Stephanie promises; confirming that she's given her word, Eric goes ahead and tells her how Nick and Brooke admitted their feelings that night, after Bridget "told" them about the abortion. But it was never consummated, he continues, and once Bridget told them that she had lied about the abortion, Brooke and Nick decided to put their feelings for each other behind them, so Nick could have a life with Bridget and their child. Brooke loved her daughter so much that she was willing to give up on being with Nick, and Nick has done the same.

Eric holds Stephanie back when she tries to break her word.
Stephanie tells Eric that Bridget has to be told that her mother and husband are deceiving her. No, Eric says: he tells her that Bridget can never learn of Brooke and Nick's sacrifice. Stephanie asks how he calls this lie a sacrifice. He says it is, and he can't see how she can't respect Brooke for putting Bridget first. Respect? She asks. How can she respect anyone for a misguided lie like this? And more importantly, how can he condone this and let his daughter live a lie? Eric says that he trusts Brooke and Nick, but Stephanie doesn't believe that this lie will hold up. The truth will come out eventually, she says, and everything will blow up in their faces, so Bridget has to be told now. Eric reminds her that she gave him her word. Yes, she says, she did. But she is willing to break that word to keep HIS daughter from being destroyed again by her whore of a mother. She turns to leave, but Eric grabs her arm, turning her to face him as he keeps her from leaving.
