Ridge is impressed by Brooke's attitude.
|
Ridge is in Brooke's office, worried about his mother's accusations that something is going on between Brooke and Nick. Brooke doesn't even want to think about Stephanie's accusations; she'd rather focus on herself, and she suggests that Ridge do that same. Focus on herself with who? Ridge asks. Brooke says it's none of his business. Ridge tells "Logan" that he's just concerned. As independent as she's always been, he's never known her to not have a man in her life. And since that man isn't him, and it isn't Dante, he wonders who it is. It's nobody, she says; she's tired of the whole "soul mate" and "destiny" thing that never worked and just wants to be more casual. Ridge asks if "casual" means going after Bridget's husband, like his mother suggested. He asks what's going on with her and Nick; she again says it's not his concern. Maybe it is, he says, because he cares about Bridget - and because he loves Brooke, who tells him to care about her a bit less for his marriage's sake. Maybe if he cared less, he admits, his marriage wouldn't be in shambles. But even though he and Taylor are going into counseling, he can't see that changing his feelings for Brooke. Brooke gets uncomfortable and turns away, but Ridge takes her by the shoulders and asks if she got past the feelings she had for him by replacing him in her heart with Nick. Brooke says that she spent years focusing on her own happiness, even if it hurt her children, and she's not proud of that. But right now, the most important thing is for her to see her children happy, which means supporting Bridget's marriage. Making their kids' dreams come true brings real happiness, she says. Ridge is impressed - but then again, he can't think of a time when he hasn't been impressed by her. He hugs her and kisses her head before leaving.

Nick and Bridget face Stephanie's accusations.
|
On the Shady Marlin, Stephanie demands that Nick tell Bridget the truth. Nick tells her to stay out of their lives, but she turns to Bridget, who she thinks has every right to know what's going on behind her back. She then looks to Nick and tells him to tell Bridget the truth. Bridget looks to Nick and asks if it's true. Nick says she knows the truth, and she's known it all along. She has no reason to doubt his commitment. He tells her that his meeting with Brooke was a chance encounter. Miles away in a national forest? Stephanie asks. Nick tells her to stop right there: maybe her golden boy son will let her bully his wife around, but Nick has no plans to let Stephanie badger Bridget that way. Stephanie turns to Bridget and says that she doesn't want Bridget to go through what she did. She lost her own marriage and her sons to Brooke, and she doesn't want to see Brooke steal Bridget's happiness away yet again. Bridget says that her mom and Nick both promised that it's over. Stephanie says that it's never over with Brooke! She knows Bridget thinks she's letting jealousy and anger cloud her judgement, but she's seeing everything clearly. She knows she's made mistakes. And she also knows Brooke, who seduces men and throws them away before they see it coming, and she doesn't want to see Brooke add Nick to that list of men. Nick tells Stephanie to get out, but Stephanie stops and softly tells Bridget again that she doesn't want to see Bridget end up like her. She wouldn't wish that on anyone. She urges Bridget to walk away now and leaves.
After Stephanie leaves, Bridget is hesitant toward Nick. She says she hates acting this way, but she hates hearing that he might be in love with her mother. Nick says he doesn't blame her. He then tells he the reason he went to Big Bear: because it is the place where they fell in love, and he wanted to remember that. He had no idea Brooke would be there. Before Bridget can react, her cell phone rings: it's Brooke. Bridget answers. Brooke asks how Bridget is. Bridget says she's OK other than fact that Stephanie came over here to badger her and Nick, until Nick kicked Stephanie off the boat. About Big Bear, Brooke says... Bridget tells her mom that Nick said the same thing she [Brooke] did, that it was a chance meeting, and she believes them. Brooke tells Bridget, "No matter what Stephanie says, Nick really does love you. Don't ever doubt that." Bridget thanks her mom for calling, and for everything, and ends the call. Bridget then tells Nick what her mother said about never doubting him. She wants to believe that he's committed to this marriage. He assures her that he is and kisses her. Before long, the two of them are in bed; Bridget feels better after making love to Nick, because she can feel his commitment to her. She thinks Stephanie really is concerned about her, because of her mom's past involvements with Eric, Ridge and Thorne. Nick wants to get back to what they were doing before they started talking to Stephanie and starts making love to her again.
When they're done, Nick and Bridget look at the real estate listings Bridget printed out. Nick asks how many there are. Bridget says she stopped at 37. She shows him one with a "mother in law suite" where his mom can start when Jackie decides to move in with him. Nick laughs that he won't have any of that. He asks her to be honest with him about Stephanie's visit earlier. She says Stephanie caught her off guard, because she's not her mom and never will be. He says he doesn't want her to be. Besides, she says, he made a vow to be faithful to her. Yes, he says, he did. And that includes when she's naughty, she laughs. Nick doesn't remember that part of the vows, so Bridget decides to remind him by kissing him again. She tells him how safe she feels with him, like she's never going to lose him. They start to kiss again, but while Nick is in the embrace, he's also looking at a photo from the wedding with Brooke in it.

Stephanie vows to keep Brooke from hurting Bridget.
|
Brooke barges into the Forrester mansion and comes down on Stephanie for trying to destroy Bridget's faith in her marriage. Stephanie points out that she's not the one who was with Nick in the woods. Brooke again insists that she and Nick just ran into each other, but Stephanie thinks that's a load of bull! She knows that she saw yearning and desire on Brooke and Nick's faces when they were at Big Bear. Brooke refuses to play the whore to suit Stephanie's accusations. So she won't sleep with this husband? Stephanie asks; she finds that hard to believe. After all, Brooke slept with Bridget's first husband - and with Macy's husband, with Eric while he was still married to her, and to Ridge while Brooke was married to Eric. That kind of behavior, she states, shows an obsessive pattern to Brooke's behavior where Brooke tries to destroy the people she loves. She points out to Brooke that she could have had Nick when he was available, but she waited until he married Bridget to take her. She finds that kind of behavior as destructive, and she vows to see Brooke and her in hell before she lets Brooke hurt Bridget again!

Brooke urges Stephanie not to hurt Bridget with her accusations.
|
Brooke tells Stephanie to hate her all she wants, but don't do this to Bridget. Bridget doesn't deserve this, she urges. What Bridget deserves, Stephanie says, is the truth, but apparently Brooke can't tell her that. Brooke says there's nothing to tell, but Stephanie is still sure that Brooke and Nick are holding back feelings for each other. She can't understand how Brooke could force her own daughter into an empty marriage. Brooke tells her to stop, but Stephanie tells Brooke to admit that she and Nick love each other. If she does it before the baby is born, Bridget will still have a chance to get over Nick, and to meet some decent guy who will appreciate her and not her mother. Brooke again tells Stephanie to shut up, but Stephanie can't see why when she is telling the truth. She tries to piece it all together; she recalls how Bridget lied about the abortion to test Brooke and Nick and thought they passed. But what if they didn't? Stephanie wonders. She bets that Brooke and Nick admitted their feelings at that time, and she even guesses that they slept together! They didn't! Brooke insists. Stephanie doesn't believe her: she guesses that something happened between Brooke and Nick, but then Bridget told them the truth about the abortion. She doesn't know what exactly happened, but she vows to find out what it was - and when she finds out, she predicts, Brooke will lose Bridget forever!
