Nick tells Bridget that everything's under control.
|
Aboard the Shady Marlin, Bridget can't believe what Nick's told her, that Ridge dug up Taylor's grave. Nick guesses it has to do with Ridge's concussion. But he doesn't have one, she points out. Even so, Nick suggests, a guy can only take so many shots to the head. Bridget thinks it has to be something deeper for Ridge to just leave the hospital and desecrate Taylor's grave. Nick predicts that this will be tough on Brooke; Bridget agrees and rushes to the phone. Before long, she's on the phone with Stephanie. When she hangs up, she tells Nick that Stephanie is with her mom, trying to explain what Ridge did. He comments that Stephanie's again the bearer of bad news. She points out that Stephanie's freaked out by this too. He thinks Brooke's a big girl and will be fine. How can she be when her husband is chasing the ghost of his dead wife? Bridget asks. Nick agrees that Ridge probably is the person to worry about right now. And she is worried, Bridget says. So are her dad and Thorne, who are out looking for Ridge. Which says that everything's under control, Nick says, which is why they should just stay put.
Sitting on deck, Nick massages Bridget's shoulders. He quips that he doesn't want her getting wrinkles before the wedding. She says that she'll have lots of wrinkles AND grey hairs before her family works out their problems. He teases that he sees a few grey hairs and then promises her that they will get married. She says she'd like it to be small this time, which is fine with him. He recalls the sight of her at their previous ceremony, something he'll never forget. And she will wear that dress, she says, even if they have the wedding at Chuck's. Nick reminds her that he always thought all they needed was the two of them at the altar - and while they're on the subject, he has something for her. He opens a paper bag and takes out the top of their wedding cake. But that's supposed to be for their anniversary, she says. Since they're doing things backwards, he says, they can eat the cake, then have the honeymoon and then get married. He feeds her some cake. She says it's good but wonders if this is bad luck. He's sure it isn't; if anyone deserves happily ever after, he says, it's her. They kiss.

Brooke can't believe that Ridge would dig up Taylor's grave.
|
At Ridge's house, Brooke can't believe that Ridge would dig up Taylor's grave. Stephanie confirms it: she explains how Ridge called Nick and Thorne to help him, and after Thorne told them about it, she and Eric went to the cemetery and saw the recently re-sealed grave site. A disbelieving Brooke thinks Ridge must be sick, despite what the doctors say. He wanted proof, Stephanie says. Brooke still can't believe Ridge would open the casket. Stephanie doesn't know if he did, but thinks that's besides the point. What they have to focus on, she explains, is that Ridge does need help, because he dug up the grave of someone he was deeply in love with. Brooke wants to call the police, but Stephanie says that Eric and Thorne are already looking for him. Brooke frets that this is all so ridiculous, but Stephanie thinks it makes sense in a way; she thinks it shows that Ridge is still desperately in love with his wife.

Stephanie tries to get Brooke to understand what Ridge must be feeling.
|
An angry Brooke reminds Stephanie that she's Ridge's wife now. But Ridge still has feelings for Taylor, Stephanie says, ones he never got passed after Taylor died. She reminds Brooke of how quickly Ridge moved on with her after Taylor's death. Because of that, she believes Ridge never properly grieved and faced his emotions for Taylor. Now, he's seen someone who reminds him of Taylor, which has brought all those repressed emotions to the surface. Brooke says she thinks it has more to do with his getting hit in the head. Stephanie warns her not to minimize Ridge's feelings for Taylor. Brooke says she isn't. Stephanie says she is, and she can understand why; she knows it must scare Brooke to think that her husband may not be over his dead wife. Brooke shouts at her to stop this! Taylor is *gone*, she insists, and whatever feelings Ridge had for her are in the past.
At the beach house, Ridge and Taylor are still kissing. She sees again that he's wearing "their" wedding ring and thinks this feels so right. He calls her "Doc" and starts to say something, but she tells him to call her that again and keeps kissing him. That ring, she says, is a sign of his commitment to her. Once again, Ridge looks guilty. He says it was awful without her. But they have each other again, she says; she goes on about how much she missed him and pulls him toward the sofa, asking him to make love to her. He starts to pull away, even though she tells him not to stop. She asks what's wrong. He just looks at her, and she can sense something wrong. She asks him to tell her what's going on, because he's scaring her! He tells her how difficult it was without her. The kids were in turmoil, as was he, from having to play father and mother to them. The kids needed their mother, but every night, he'd go back to their bedroom, alone and miserable because he missed her so. The emptiness consumed him, especially since he thought she was never coming back. He wants to make sure she understands that. She asks what he's trying to say. He wants her to realize that he never stopped loving her. But this wedding band, he adds, holding up his hand, isn't their's.

Taylor is stunned that Ridge remarried.

|
Taylor is stunned that Ridge remarried. He tells her that he had to make a life for himself and their children. Her voice cracking, she says she knew it was possible, but to hear it... He knows he should have said something, but he didn't think of it until she looked at the ring. She asks if she knows the woman. When he says she does, she realizes it's Brooke. He says it took a long time to get to that point. At first, Brooke was just a friend, someone who was there for him and the kids. He tells Taylor that no one could ever replace her, but Brooke brought a calm to their house and it didn't seem so lonely anymore. She turns away from him. He says they weren't just miserable victims of a horrible tragedy anymore; they were... He struggles to find a word and then finishes, "...a family." Taylor turns to him. He says he's sorry. She collapses into his arms, crying. She then tells him not to be sorry. She knew this might happen, since he thought she had died, but she got caught up in their miraculous reunion. It is miraculous, he agrees. She sees now that he and the kids needed someone to fill a void, and she's glad they were happy. She's grateful that Brooke was able to provide female presence in their lives, but now, the kids have their mother back, so they just have to find a way to "figure it out."
Right, Ridge says, they'll figure it out. Taylor wants him to go to the kids in the morning and get them ready. She wants him to tell them that their mother is coming home. She doesn't want anything to spoil it. Of course not, he says, smiling fondly at her. She caresses his face and says she loves him. He says he loves her, caressing her face. She says they're a family and nothing can change that. They have their family back. They kiss and hug again.
