Before I start today's update, I wanted to take a moment to commemorate the passing of a legend in daytime drama, B&B's co-creator and original head writer, William J. Bell. Bill Bell passed away on April 29 at the age of 78. While I'll say more about his passing elsewhere on the site in the next few days, I'd like to acknowledge that Mr. Bell's work on The Young & The Restless played a large part in my developing an interest in soaps over 25 years ago, and I eagerly followed him over to B&B in 1987 as a result. With his passing, daytime has lost one of its giants. The World of B&B would like to offer our condolences to his family over their tragic loss. - Scott Novick

Nick holds Thorne back from returning to the grave site.
|
On the Shady Marlin, Thorne asks Nick if he knows what they just did. They helped their brother, Nick says. Thorne wonders how desecrating Taylor's grave will help Ridge. Ridge was going to do it with or without them, Nick says; at least this might help Ridge get over it faster. But it's still wrong, Thorne argues. Nick knows that, but he also knows Ridge needs closure. Which he got when they buried Taylor, Thorne states. He imagines Ridge's reaction to seeing Taylor in her casket and fears that might really send Ridge over the edge. He starts to leave, but Nick grabs him and says it's already too late. Nick says this isn't about them. He thinks Ridge needs to see Taylor for himself, so she can *rest* in peace and Ridge can *live* in peace.

Thorne's news shocks Eric and Stephanie.
|
Later, at the Forrester mansion, a frustrated Eric ends a call with Megan and tells Stephanie that Ridge isn't at the office. Just then, Thorne comes in, looking ragged after his gave digging. A stunned Eric and Stephanie ask what happened to him. He assures them that he's fine and says that Ridge is the one they should be worried about. Eric and Stephanie tell him that they've been worried about Ridge and ask where he is. Thorne pauses before explaining that Ridge is at Taylor's grave site. Eric hopes this means Ridge is getting over this thing with Taylor, but Thorne says it doesn't; in fact, it makes him sick to thing about what's going on, since he just helped Ridge dig up Taylor's grave. Eric and Stephanie are shocked!
In the cemetery, Ridge opens the casket, looks inside and is stunned to see Taylor, looking exactly as she did when she was buried. He strokes one finger across her cheek and pulls back. He then wipes his brow, takes a breath and reaches in again, and when he touches her face, he sees that something's not right. He picks her up from the casket and finds that only her head and torso are there. Confused, he cries out, "Where's Taylor?!" into the night. Ridge then lays "Taylor" down and finds the blanket that Steffy put there the day of the funeral. He recalls that moment and puts the blanket down before climbing out of the grave. Confused, he puts his flashlight down as a figure comes up behind him and calls out his name.

Prince Omar of Morocco confronts Ridge.
|
Ridge turns and is shocked to see Moroccan Prince Omar. [For newer viewers: to sum up, Taylor was believed to have died once before, when her flight to Cairo crashed. However, she had actually been mugged while stopping over in Morocco and lay in a coma for months under the care of Prince Omar Rashid, until she was eventually reunited with Ridge.] Ridge asks Omar why he's here. Omar thinks it should be obvious. Ridge realizes Omar must be connected to this and demands to know where Taylor is. Omar says he took his Laila (his name for Taylor when he cared for her) to someplace more befitting a woman like her. Ridge says Taylor wasn't Omar's anything; Omar counters that he never stopped loving her, while Ridge let her die! Ridge guesses that Omar's the one who's been making him think that Taylor is alive. How could that be, Omar asks, since she died in Ridge's arms? Ridge threatens to go the Feds if he doesn't get answers, but Omar points out that Ridge can't prove anything. He states that he never saw how his "Princess Laila" could abandon their glorious life together for a life with Ridge - and when she lay on death's door thanks to a lunatic like Sheila Carter, he knew he was right that he should never have entrusted her to Ridge!
When he heard Taylor was dying, Omar explains, he had to pay his respects. He came to see her in the hospital and saw her fighting for her life, as she was in Morocco. But unlike her time in a coma in his country, she had no one who believed in her to care for her. Ridge says HE believed in her, but Omar counters that Ridge gave up on her, something no husband should ever do! Ridge angrily lashes out at Omar's accusation that he let Taylor die! He points out that there was no hope for Taylor to survive. Omar says there is always hope when you're in love, which is why he did whatever it took to care for her. Ridge points out that Taylor wanted to die with dignity, but Omar thinks a woman at death's door was in no shape to make that decision. He waited to see if Ridge would do something, but when Ridge didn't, Omar took action. Once Ridge and his family left the hospital, Omar had his people slip into the hospital to bring Taylor to his country. He boasts how they had no problems getting past the laughable hospital security or creating the illusion that Taylor was in a casket to be buried by replacing her with a lifelike replica that even fooled her own family!

Ridge is enraged at what Omar has told him.
|
Ridge calls Omar a demented son of a... He demands to know if Omar still has his wife. Omar says he does. Ridge can't believe the prince would be so depraved to rob a grave over a bizarre obsession with the one woman he could never have. Omar laughs at Ridge's simplistic view of things: if he's depraved for taking Laila, he asks, what was Ridge when he allowed his wife to unhook herself from the machines that kept her alive? Ridge recalls that Taylor wanted that, and he respected that wish, just as Omar should have. Omar again accuses Ridge of giving up, but Ridge says he didn't have a choice. It it were up to him, his wife would still be with him now, but instead, he had to hold her in his arms and tell her that he loved her as she lay there dying. And who pronounced her dead? Omar asks. Ridge says it doesn't matter, since he knew. Omar accuses Ridge of deciding on his own that Taylor was dead; he didn't even allow a doctor in to check, or try to revive her.

Taylor's alive!
|
Revive her? Ridge asks. He considers what Omar is saying and realizes that Omar must have revived her, which means... He grabs Omar and demands to know if his wife is alive!
"Yes, Ridge, I am," a familiar voice replies.
Ridge lets go of Omar and turns to see a shadowy female figure, with a light behind her, walking toward the grave site. As she gets closer, he can see her face... and his eyes grow wide in shock as he sees Taylor approaching him!
