Massimo tells Brooke that he'll bring Ridge home.
At Ridge's house, Brooke plays Ridge's voice mail message for Nick and Massimo. Neither man can believe their ears: it just doesn't seem possible to them that Ridge would abandon his family. Massimo tries to assure Brooke that Ridge is just using harsh words to lash out. He's been gone for days, Brooke points out; he didn't come home for Hope's recital or even when his mother was in the hospital. At least he contacted her, Nick points out. Brooke doesn't consider voice and e-mail messages to be “contact.” Mass agrees: those are acts of cowardice that his son would never do, which is why there must be another explanation. Brooke says she wants to believe that, but then she thinks about what Ridge said and she just can't. She wonders how the Ridge she knows could just walk away from her and their family. He wouldn't, Mass and Nick agree - which is why Massimo intends to bring his son home!

Nick assures Brooke that his old man will find Ridge.
Brooke thanks Massimo; she says she'd considered hiring a P.I., but then Ridge made it clear that he doesn't want to be found. Mass says that his son is not acting like himself, so there must be something more going on. Brooke says she thought that, too, but now she has to wonder if she's deluding herself to avoid facing the truth. Nick says that Ridge's actions don't make sense. Massimo wonders if this is is some kind of punishment. If so, Nick says, the wrong person is being punished. Massimo tells Brooke to listen to him: he knows she's upset, but he promises to get to the bottom of this. He makes some calls and puts a trace on Ridge's cell phone, credit cards and passport. Brooke wonders if this will really work; Nick tells her that his old man could find Jimmy Hoffa if he wanted to, and he promises to be there for her and the kids until Massimo brings Ridge back home. As Mass ends his call, Brooke thanks him and Nick for their help. Mass reminds Brooke that, even though they've had problems in the past, she's married to a Marone, and this family takes care of each other.

Natalie tries to convince Morgan to send Ridge home.
In Venice, Morgan's mom, Natalie, stops by Morgan's hotel. Morgan tells Natalie to keep her voice down, since Ridge is sleeping. Natalie insists that Ridge belongs in L.A. with his family, but Morgan says he's not ready. Natalie warns Morgan that she's only delaying the inevitable, since Ridge will get his memory back. And then he'll remember that he was fighting with his wife, Morgan says. She thinks there was a reason she and Ridge were both in the bar that night; it gave her and Ridge another chance after Stephanie took everything from them. A chance for what? Natalie asks. She points out that Ridge doesn't even know who Morgan is, and he's bound to be angry when he finds out how Morgan's deceived him. She worries that her daughter is making a mistake that will land her back in that institution, so she begs Morgan to end this fantasy and send Ridge back to his wife and children. Morgan says she intends to, once she gets what she gets back what was stolen from her: she wants Ridge's baby!
Morgan reveals her true motives to her mother.
Natalie tells Morgan that she doesn't need Ridge's baby. Morgan says she does, to fill the emptiness inside her. That emptiness is a psychological problem, Natalie advises, the result of a trauma that scarred Morgan emotionally. But that emptiness went away when she got pregnant a second time, Morgan explains. She was happy, until that baby was also taken from her. But she feels like that baby is still out there and can even see her when she closes her eyes, which is why she has to have Ridge's child. It's the only way to get back what was stolen from her. Natalie disagrees and promises to help her daughter. Morgan recalls how not having her mother's help when she was 17 forced her to turn to Stephanie; she thinks she and Ridge might be happy now if Natalie hadn't been so busy with her career. Natalie regrets that, but she doesn't think going along with Morgan's plans will fix her mistake. Then just keep quiet, Morgan says. Natalie doesn't think Morgan's tricking Ridge is any better than what Stephanie did to Morgan. Morgan says there's a difference: she'll send Ridge back to his family once she gets what she needs. She needs this more than anything, so she begs her mom not to stand in her way.
Natalie has heard enough and leaves. Once she's gone, Morgan goes to her purse and takes out a sonogram of her dead baby. She talks to the baby, saying that her life ended when the baby's did, but now they both have a chance for a new beginning.
