Nick tries to impress Bridget with dinner.
Bridget boards the Shady Marlin as Nick talks with Massimo on the phone. Nick tells his pop that Bridget's here, so he has to go, but he promises to tell her. Tell her what? Bridget asks. Nick says that Massimo wanted to thank her for keeping quiet about Deacon. Bridget says she still doesn't agree with what Mass did. Nick says the old man knows that, but at least Deacon got himself into rehab now. He tells Bridget that his parents ran into each other at the office tonight. Bridget asks if they're back together; not yet, Nick says, but if his parents find a happy ending, she's responsible, and both he and his parents are grateful to her for that. That's why he invited her over for a candlelight dinner tonight. As Nick pours her some $3.99 wine, Bridget admires how neat everything looks; she's surprised given his poor housekeeping skills. Nick says he made a clean sweep of the place to impress her. Bridget opens up a cabinet to show him what impresses her most; as dishes tumble out, she says it's the way he fit everything into that tiny space. Laughing, Nick asks how that got there. Bridget says she was going to pat him on the back. Nick welcomes the gesture, but Bridget thinks maybe that should wait until they see how dinner goes.

Bridget's impressed by the lengths Nick went to.
As Nick starts to serve dinner, Bridget can't believe he went to all this trouble. She almost feels underdressed. Then maybe they should have gone to Chuck's, Nick suggests. No, Bridget says, Chuck's isn't going anywhere and neither are they. Nick serves up the fish dinner, which he cooked himself: be bets she'll love this. Bridget tastes it and admits it's good, especially the sauce. Nick says that's a recipe he found in Bora Bora. With cooking like this, Bridget bets he has lots of lonely women pining after him. Especially now that he's attached, he says. To what? she asks. To his job in L.A., he says.

Bridget thinks she sees him blush as he says that; he says that's just a sailor thing from too much, since he doesn't blush. Of course not, she giggles. Bridget apologizes for laughing, especially since he says her laugh is “funny.” It is, Nick says, but it suits her; she's beautiful when she smiles. She thanks him for making her feel good; it's like he's her private little island, a place she can go to feel good about herself. She always used to look for that place, but it would sink into the ocean. But with him, she feels safe. He reminds her that it still rains on that island. She hopes he's not telling her again that there's someone better than him for her out there. Nick warns her that he gets grumpy in his old age. She says she can handle grumpy. What about old, he asks, as in the age difference between them? He's still a kid at heart, she says. But maybe she needs a man, he suggests. She says she already has one who's cute and sweet. She knows exactly who he is, which is why she doesn't need to look elsewhere. She says she's found what she's looking for and is on board for the duration. They kiss.

Stephanie asks Brooke if facing death had an impact on Ridge and Bridget.
Brooke is in her bedroom, wearing a robe over some skimpy lingerie as she lights some candle. There's a knock on the door; thinking it's Ridge, she lowers her robe, but she's shocked to see that it's Stephanie! Closing her robe, Brooke asks her mother in law what she wants. She tells Stephanie that Ridge went to get dessert and asks if there's something wrong. Stephanie explains that Eric wants to retire from Forrester to travel. Brooke can't believe it, since Eric loves his work so much. But the family business isn't the same to him without the family, Stephanie explains. She's hoping Ridge might be able to talk Eric out of retiring, although she wonders if Ridge will see this as the chance he's been waiting for. Brooke doesn't think he will, since the time off has given Ridge a new desire to keep the family together. That's how he focused on getting Thomas away from Amber, and now he's trying to get his life together after what happened at Big Bear. Speaking of Big Bear, Stephanie wonders if facing death together had any kind of impact on Ridge or Bridget. Brooke asks Stephanie why she's again trying to stir up trouble where nothing's wrong. She tells Stephanie again that there's nothing going on between Ridge and Bridget. Stephanie thinks Brooke sounds awfully loud for someone who isn't worried. That's because Brooke is sick and tired of hearing about “Ridge and Bridget” when there is no Ridge and Bridget!

Brooke tells Stephanie to stop stirring up trouble.
Stephanie tells Brooke to be honest with herself and admit that with Bridget and Ridge trapped, the thought of something between the two of them at least crossed her mind. Brooke doesn't want to talk about this. Stephanie says she's not trying to hurt Brooke: she's just trying to help her face the truth before it becomes a problem. The truth, Brooke says, is that Ridge saved his stepdaughter, and that's it. She's sure Ridge and Bridget would never betray her, even if the world was coming down around them. Not deliberately, Stephanie says. Not at all, Brooke says, which is why she doesn't want to even bring up the subject of Ridge and Bridget ever again. Stephanie says she'd like to promise, but... Brooke tells Stephanie that she and Ridge celebrated their love tonight and agreed that his time with Bridget was over. Ridge promised she wouldn't have to feel that pain again, and he doesn't make such promises lightly. She assures Stephanie that she has complete faith in Ridge.

Ridge vows to turn Amber in to the police for what she did.
At Spectra, Amber asks Ridge if they have a deal: she'll stay out of his marriage if he clears the way for her to be with Thomas. Ridge has a better idea: how about he holds onto Brooke and Thomas while he throws her into an asylum after what she did to him and Bridget in that mine to get revenge? It's about justice, Amber argues, not revenge. Ridge wonders how it's just for her to think she deserves Thomas. She thinks he's one to talk after he kissed his stepdaughter on the lips. She wonders what Brooke would think if she saw that kiss and bets it would blow their marriage right out of the water! She says she can understand his not wanting that to happen, since she feels as strongly about Thomas. Ridge tells her not to compare herself to him that way, since her obsession with Thomas is nothing like his love for Brooke. Amber disagrees and thinks the proof is the lengths she went to just to get Thomas back. She also thinks he's not the man Brooke married anymore, and the change happened once he found out he wasn't a Forrester!

Ridge doesn't want a lecture from the person who almost killed Bridget. She's sorry to make him listen, but she sees him as a jerk and is doing this as a wake-up call for him to clear up his act. Ridge bets she was the one who lured Bridget out to the mine shaft. Amber says she also called Mountain Rescue. But by the time she did, he says, Bridget was already almost dead. He can't believe that she is so desperate to hurt the family she wants so badly to be part of. She says he wasn't supposed to be down there that long. But he was, he points out, and he could have ravaged Bridget any time. But he only kissed her when she was nearly dead. He finds it ironic that her attempt to "prove" what he's really like actually proves how guilty she is. He's sure the police will feel the same way when he brings charges against her! Amber shudders at the thought of being in jail and says she's sorry, but Ridge says it's too late now. Amber says he's bluffing, since the only way he can connect her to that mine is to put the photo of him kissing Bridget on every front page in the world. She doesn't think he'd risk Brooke finding out that way. Not only would he risk it, Ridge says, but he will be the one to tell Brooke first. And after he does, he intends to go straight to the police, so they could put Amber away for the rest of her life!
