Nick tells Bridget some tall tales about his world travels.
|
On the Shady Marlin, Bridget admires Nick's collection of artifacts from all over the world. Nick explains that the people he met in his travels often gave him gifts and shows her his favorite, a tiki given to him by a tribe in New Guinea that revered him as a god of virility after he washed onto their beach. She looks at the bottom of the tiki and says it's more like the god of hot air - since there's a "Made in China" label on it! No more tall tales, she says as they cuddle on the couch. Nick asks what she's thinking about; a guy who comes into her life, serenades her, saves her from freezing, cooks her dinner and tells her how pretty she is, she replies. Nick thinks that's some guy and especially likes the last part, because she IS beautiful. He asks if she wants to know what he's thinking; not if it's another tall tale, she says, reminding him that she's done her share of traveling. But her's was on a private jet, he says. She admits that she probably hasn't traveled the beaten path he has. He says he's gotten into some trouble, but he's managed his way out. Because he has good instincts, Bridget says. But he almost lost her, Nick points out. Luckily, she says, he came to his senses about that. Nick agrees and they kiss.
Nick then offers to play Bridget a song he's been working on. As he reaches for his guitar, he explains that he thought of this while he was searching for her and watching her in the hospital. It's kind of rusty, but he wants her to hear it. He plays the first verse of the song, which is as far as he got. It's beautiful, Bridget says. So is she, he says. He then suggests they have some coffee and go above deck; once they're there, he asks if it's warm enough. She says she's fine. He says he meant the coffee. She says that's fine, too; in fact, everything's perfect. And it's not over yet, he says. As Nick's song plays in the background, he shows her the stars. He then lights a candle and show her some card tricks before sitting down together on a deck chair to read. They look at each other, smiling; Bridget rests her head on his shoulder and then leans toward him for a kiss.

Amber panics at the thought of being sent to jail.
|
At Spectra, Amber panics at the thought of Ridge sending her to jail. He tells her that Brooke would want the same thing. She can't believe he wants to show the photo to Brooke and put his marriage at risk. He points out that she was going to show Brooke the photo. She tells him to forget about that, and even about the photo. She just wanted to get his attention. And she has it, Ridge says - and now that she does, she's given him the proof he needs that she lured him and Bridget into that mine shaft just to get that picture. Amber argues that she's not the only one who did anything wrong; after all, he kissed his stepdaughter on the lips, and that's disgusting! She's sure Brooke will agree. Ridge thinks she's feeling caught now that he turned the tables on her. She threatens to tear the photo up and pretend that this whole thing never happened, but Ridge isn't letting her off that easy. He's going to show Brooke that photo and then show it to the police. He thinks it was almost worth getting trapped in that mine to finally prove how despicable she is. When the rest of the family finds out, none of them will ever accept her back.
Amber tells Ridge to be reasonable; doesn't he know his marriage will be over if he shows that photo to Brooke? Ridge thinks she's feeling trapped now that she's caught. She says she just wanted to make him understand, but he says he understands perfectly that he was right all along about what a menace she is. Now, the whole family will see her like he does, and she'll lose her friends, her job and her freedom. Amber says he's bluffing, since it's his word against her's. He's sure a good detective could follow the trail of phone calls, like the one she said she made to the rescue station, and credit card receipts to prove what she did. This time, he predicts, she's going down hard, and she can only blame herself for it. Amber pleads with him to wait and think about what showing the photo to Brooke will do to his marriage. She asks if it's worth losing his marriage just to send her to jail. Ridge is sure his marriage can withstand this, which is why he's looking forward to ending her obsession once and for all. He leaves. Once he's gone, a panicked Amber wonders if he'll really risk his marriage by showing Brooke the photo.

Stephanie wonders why Brooke objects to Bridget being with Nick.
|
At Ridge's house, Brooke asks Stephanie why she can't accept that Ridge and Bridget don't have any feelings for each other. Stephanie says she knows her son, and she also knows that he's been making a lot of rash decisions lately. Now he shared a near-death experience with Bridget, who he has feelings for... Feelings of concern, Brooke says. Stephanie hopes she's wrong, but the kind of feelings Ridge and Bridget shared just don't go away. She then asks Brooke how she feels about Bridget seeing Nick. They're just friends, Brooke says; she even talked about it with Nick, who assured her it's nothing more than friendship. Stephanie wonders why Brooke would object to Bridget seeing Nick. Brooke says she thinks it's unhealthy for Bridget to get involved with another man she [Brooke] was involved with. So she can't imagine a man bitten by the “Logan Bug” moving on, Stephanie supposes. Brooke tells her not to be so ludicrous. This isn't about ego. It's just about her concern for her daughter, who's very special. And Nick sees how special she is, Stephanie says, and Bridget's never had problems attracting men. Brooke sees where this is going and tells Stephanie to stop with her suspicions, since she's all wrong about this.

Ridge interrupts the argument to speak to Brooke alone.
|
Ridge comes in and asks what's going on. Brooke says his mother is acting like a dog with a bone again. Ridge asks his mother if he can speak with Brooke alone. Stephanie tells him that she came by to tell him something important, but she can see this isn't the time, so she'll call him tomorrow. Once she leaves, Ridge asks Brooke what was going on when he came in. Brooke doesn't want to talk about it, but Ridge notes how intense things seemed and thinks they need to talk about anything that affected her that much. Brooke says it's OK; she reminds him that tonight was supposed to be a celebration of the way they've worked through their problems and have come through stronger than ever. He agrees that they have. Brooke asks what happened to the dessert he went to get. Actually, he admits, that was just an excuse. He knows he should have told her, but he had something to take care of. Brooke says he sounds so serious; he says it is, and there's something he has to tell her.
