Brooke worries that Ridge and Bridget aren't home yet.
Brooke wakes up and finds that Ridge didn't come home last night. She checks her phone and sees that he didn't leave a message, either, so she puts on a robe and checks outside. She looks around frantically and then, with a worried look on her face, goes back in. Thomas comes down and asks Brooke what's wrong; she tells him that Ridge's car isn't in the driveway and Ridge and Bridget didn't come home last night. Thomas guesses they either stayed at the cabin or stopped somewhere to avoid bad weather. But he still would have called, Brooke frets. She's sure something's wrong. Just then, Nick comes to the door; he wants to bring Bridget her cell phone, which she left in his car. Brooke and Thomas tell him that Ridge and Bridget aren't home yet, and Brooke worries that something has happened. Nick says it's not like her to assume the worst. And it's not like Ridge to stay out all night, she points out. Nick suggests that she and Thomas check with the highway patrol and the neighbors while he goes to the cabin to look around. Once Nick leaves, Brooke tells herself that they're fine.

Ridge and Bridget try to stay warm.
Meanwhile, Ridge and Bridget are still in the mine shaft, having made it through the night. Ridge tells Bridget, who's been asleep, that no one has come by yet, but he's sure it's just a matter of time. People like Brooke should be searching for them, Bridget says. Ridge reminds her that they couldn't search at night. He helps her to her feet and assures her that someone will find them. The two of them resume calling for help, to no avail. Bridget starts to cough; Ridge tells her to rest, but she insists that they keep yelling until someone hears them. But they're in no danger, Ridge says. Yes they are, med student Bridget insists. First, the cold will make their temperatures drop and their muscles cramp. Then they'll hallucinate, and their hearts will slow down until hypothermia sets in! She looks at him and realizes he's shivering; she guesses his hands and toes are numb. A little, he says, so she tells him to take his jacket back. He thinks she needs it more, but she says he's showing the first signs already. He however thinks she needs it more, so he tells her to hold onto it until someone comes to help them soon. They again start calling for help, but still, no one answers.

Clarke thinks Amber's gone too far.
In Amber's rental condo, Clarke wakes up and sees that Amber's been up all night. So was Ridge, she says. He notes that it's 5 degrees outside, and Ridge and Bridget have been in that shaft all night; he thinks they have to get them out before one of them's hurt. Amber says she just needs a bit more time before Ridge and Bridget act on their attraction. But they're freezing, Clarke says. Amber says they're fine, but Clarke disagrees. She asks him to give her plan a chance to work, but he reminds her that those two have been down there all night. They're cold, scared and in danger - and if Amber won't do anything to get them out, he will! He's about to call mountain rescue when Amber reminds him that he's her accomplice: if she goes down, so does he. She just needs a bit more time. She doesn't want anyone to get hurt, either, but she needs Ridge and Bridget to act on their feelings, to prove that Ridge is the troublemaker and she's not. And will Thomas be grateful that she hurt his family? Clarke asks. She thinks she'd still be with Thomas if Ridge hadn't interfered. That's why she needs to do this. But what if someone finds them before her plan succeeds? he asks.

Nick tries to reassure Brooke.
At the Bel Air mansion, Thomas gets off the phone with one of their Big Bear neighbors who saw Ridge's car sill in the driveway. So Ridge and Bridget are still there, Brooke says. The neighbor peeked in the window and nobody's home, Thomas tells her. Brooke fears the worst: what if Bridget didn't make it back from skiing, and what if Ridge went to look for her? She calls Nick, who's in his car driving up, remembering when he kissed Bridget. Brooke's call brings him back to reality. Brooke tells Nick what Thomas learned. She's sure Ridge went out there to look for Bridget and fears that they got caught outside in the cold last night. Nick reminds her that Bridget and Ridge both know the mountain and how to dress for the weather, so he's sure they're fine. Still, once he hangs up, Nick steps on the gas to get up to the cabin.

Thomas tells Brooke that Nick won't let her down.
Thomas is having a hard time on the phone with a ranger named Hamilton. Brooke overhears, so she takes the phone and explains that her husband and daughter are stuck there somewhere. She tells the ranger that her husband and daughter both know the mountain. so she fears that something's happened. Brooke's cell phone rings: Thomas takes the call to the ranger so she can answer her cell. She takes the call on her cell: it's Nick. He's up at the cabin and found it empty. However, he found a note from Ridge telling Bridget that he'd be out there looking for her, and that she should stay put if she got back before him. He tells Brooke that the note said Ridge took the west trail; she tells that to Thomas, who tells the ranger. Brooke tells Nick that she has a bad feeling about this, so she urges him to hurry; Nick says he's going to look right now. Thomas tells her that the ranger is organizing a search party. And Nick is looking, too, Brooke says. She wonders what could have happened. Thomas is sure Nick will find them, since Nick's never let Brooke down before.

Amber remains determined to go through with her plan.
In the mine shaft, Ridge stops calling for help and asks Bridget how she is. She thinks she never should have come back from Copenhagen. If she had stayed in Europe to work her problems out on her own, she wouldn't have fallen, and Ridge wouldn't have fallen in while looking for her. That was an accident, he says. But he and her mom were so happy with the kids, she says, and now he may never see them again. Ridge tells her to stop thinking about this. He asks if she can feel her hands; she says she can't. She thinks the hypothermia is coming. He offers to massage her arm, but she says that will make the cold blood rush to her heart. She says they have to keep their cores warm until someone finds them - IF they find them! In Amber's condo, Clarke says Bridget doesn't look so good. He reminds Amber that Brooke always forgives Ridge, so why wait for an incriminating photo that won't make a diiference? No, Amber says, not this time: she is determined to prove that Ridge is a hypocrite so Brooke and Thomas will toss Ridge out on his ear, and then she and Thomas can start over.

Ridge's face draws very close to Bridget's.
In the mine shaft, Bridget fears they're not going to make it. Ridge tells her to fight, but she doesn't think she can. Yes, Ridge tells her, she can. He reminds her that there will be people looking for them, and they'll find them soon enough. That's why she needs to hang on until those people find them. He leans very close to her.

Back in the rental condo, Amber looks at the screen. Seeing Ridge and Bridget so close, she tells Clarke to look. See, she says, she told him! It's finally happening. She waits for Ridge to hold and hug Bridget, to give her the strength to go on. She's sure that Bridget needs this, and that Ridge has wanted this for years, which is why she wants Ridge to just do it and go for it!
