Massimo says he wasn't cruel to Deacon.
At Marone Industries, Bridget asks Massimo how he got Deacon drunk again. Mass says it's not important, but Bridget thinks Deacon would disagree. Mass doesn't really care what Deacon thinks, but he will say this: it was easy to get Deacon to fall off the wagon with just a few doses of grain alcohol. It was almost like Deacon welcomed the chance to self-destruct. Nick sees his father getting upset and tries to calm him. Bridget can't believe Massimo could be this cruel. Mass reminds her how Deacon taunted him while he was wheelchair bound, barely able to breathe on his own while Deacon seduced his vulnerable wife in front of him. Nick tells Mass to calm down. Mass says he's fine. He thinks that even if Deacon's suffering, it's nothing compared to what Deacon put him and Jacqueline through. He turns to Bridget and tells her he's not the cruel one: in fact, he's never shown this much mercy in his life!

Deacon realizes it's time for him to leave.
Deacon's at his beach house, looking around, remembering the happy times he and Jackie spent together. He decides he has to get out of there and packs his bags. As he's about to leave, he gets a call on his cell phone from Bridget, who's in her car. She says she needs to talk to him, but he says this isn't a good time. She asks where he is; he tells her he's at his beach house. She tells him to wait there, since she has something important to tell him. If it's important, he says, she has the wrong guy, since he's a disaster waiting to happen. But the wait's over now, so he bids her goodbye. Bridget tries to tell him what Massimo did, but he hangs up. She tries to call back, but no one answers.

Nick asks Bridget to give his parents a second chance.
When Bridget arrives at the beach house, she finds an unlocked door and an empty house. She looks around and finds a note Deacon left for Jackie, offering his resignation. Nick arrives; Bridget tells him that Deacon's gone. She worries that Deacon sounded terrible on the phone before he hung up on her, so she calls his cell phone - which is right there on the table. His voice mail greeting says not to leave a message, since he won't get it. Bridget frets that Deacon's gone, all because Massimo was so selfish. Nick looks around and finds the phone book open to rehab clinics, with several circled. That means Deacon's going to dry out! He wouldn't need rehab if Massimo hadn't pushed him back to the bottle, Bridget says. She thinks Deacon needs to know the truth. What he needs, Nick says, is rehab. And what about Jackie? Bridget asks. Doesn't she deserve to know? Nick thinks she does, but he's willing to overlook that if he can reunite his family. He knows his parents love each other, and even if they're as messed up as Bridget's family, they deserve a second chance to be happy. And what does Deacon deserve? she asks. Nick thinks Deacon will get the help he needs and beat his demons, like he did before: it just won't be with Jackie in his life, tearing the Marone family apart. He thinks Bridget can appreciate that. She says she can. Then trust him and let things resolve themselves for everybody, Nick pleads. Bridget agrees and Nick thanks her.

Jackie tells Massimo that he was right about Deacon.
Jackie shows up at Marone looking for Nick, but finds Massimo there instead. Massimo tells her that Nick stepped out for a while, but he asks if he can do anything for her. She tells him that he was right about Deacon. Massimo tells her that he doesn't take any pleasure seeing her in pain. A tearful Jackie thanks him. They embrace.

Brooke's upset when her night out is interrupted.
At Cafe Russe, Amber reminds Ridge how he broke his promise to Brooke by kissing Bridget in the photo. Ridge asks where she got the photo. She thinks he should be more worried what will happen if Brooke sees it. She won't, Ridge states. Amber's not so sure, since Brooke's on her way back to the table now. Clarke tries to intercept Brooke, who's surprised to see him here. He says he's working his new expense account and invites her to join him, but she wants to get back to her husband. She bids him good night and returns to the table. When she sees Amber, she wonders if Sally's going to pop out of a cake next. Maybe not Sally, Amber chuckles, but something might. Brooke sees the photo album and thinks Amber's making another try at giving it to Ridge, but she thinks it's a waste of time. Amber disagrees, since she senses an attitude adjustment from Ridge. Brooke says she and Ridge really want to get back to their celebration. Amber apologizes for interrupting, especially since their food is here. She knows her dish was delicious, so she wants to wait and see the look on Brooke's face when she opens her's. Ridge suggests to Brooke that they leave, but Amber can't wait and opens the dish, revealing a plate of pasta! See, she says - just like she promised. She reminds Ridge that everything's up to him and takes her leave.

Ridge tries to piece it all together.
Brooke notes how strange that was. It was sick, Ridge says. Brooke doesn't think they should let Amber ruin their evening. Ridge agrees and they finish dinner, but he keeps staring at the photo album Amber left behind. As they drive home, Ridge tries to piece it all together in his mind. He and Bridget were fighting for their lives until Nick found them. He thought he was losing Bridget to hypothermia and even thought to himself, “did I actually kiss her?” He wonders how Amber got that photo. A horn blaring brings him back to reality. Brooke asks if he's OK, especially since he hardly ate his dinner. He says that Amber killed his appetite. She reminds him that they said they wouldn't let Amber ruin their evening. He says she's right. He tells her that he's going to drop her off and get some dessert. She says he doesn't have to, but he thinks he does.

Clarke scolds Amber for her little stunt.
At Spectra, Clarke comes down on Amber for her little stunt. He tells her his doctor told him to avoid stress when eating, so he didn't need the stress of waiting for her to show the photo to Brooke. She says she doesn't want to show the photo to Brooke; after all, Brooke's her future stepmother-in-law. If Thomas takes her back, he says. He will, she predicts. Just then, her cell phone rings: it's Ridge. He demands to know where she is. She tells him she's at Spectra, so he tells her to wait there. Amber tells Clarke that Ridge is on his way, so she suggests he make himself scarce. Clarke asks if she's sure. She thinks she can handle this. He hopes she's right.

Amber wants to make a deal with Ridge.
When an angry Ridge arrives, he says he has it all figured out. He realizes that Amber trapped him and Bridget in that mineshaft and waited for them to freeze to death, just so she could catch them on camera! Amber tells him to calm down, but he wants to choke the hell out of her! She swears she never would have let anything happen. But Bridget almost died! he shouts. She says she knows that now and she made a mistake.
Ridge hardly thinks attempted murder is a mistake and thinks she's sick to even suggest it. She thinks he's the sick one for kissing his stepdaughter. It meant nothing, Ridge insists. She wonders if Brooke would agree. He can't believe she wants to break him and Brooke up so desperately. She says she doesn't; in fact, she wants her and Thomas to have a relationship like theirs and doesn't even want to show the photo to Brooke - and she won't if he lets her see Thomas again. He can't believe she'd do this to get Thomas back. She says that's how much she loves him. Enough to nearly kill his dad and step-sister? Ridge asks. Amber says he drove her to this with his rash behavior, and the photo proves how rash he is! He says the only thing it proves is that she's a conniving sadist! That kiss was a kiss goodbye, he says, not one of passion. Then why kiss her on the lips? Amber asks. She's sure Brooke would ask the same thing, which is why she's willing to make a deal with him to keep Brooke from seeing the photo. Ridge isn't about to give into blackmail, but she says it's just a simple deal. He lets her see Thomas and prove how good she is for Thomas and the family, and she'll forget the photo. She thinks they both made some mistakes, and together they can both end all the hurt. All he has to do is give her a chance. She promises he won't regret it.
