Thorne and Darla wait for Jackie M to arrive.
|
At Cafe Russe, Sally, Thorne and Darla wait for the fashionably late Queen of Swank, Jackie M. Sally thinks they can forgive Jackie's tardiness, since Ms. M wanted to meet with them after their recent triumph over Forrester. She guesses Jackie agrees with Jarrett's most recent review, which called Spectra "hotter than hot."
Jackie enters the restaurant and spots the Spectra gang at their table. She pauses for a moment, recalling the day Deacon came home drunk. She calls him on her cell phone, but gets his voice mail, so she leaves a message reminding him of their meeting with Spectra. She then approaches the Spectra table, where the gang celebrates their sweet success. And it's about to get sweeter for Spectra AND Jackie M, Jackie says. She apologizes for being late, but she thinks they'll forgive her when they hear what she has to say. She wants to capitalize on Spectra's recent sales surge with a major promotion at Jackie M's boutiques that will benefit both their companies handsomely. Thorne eagerly wants to hear more. Actually, Jackie says, Deacon came up with the plan for this campaign, but he's been detained. She's sure they'll be pleased with his plans once he arrives.

Jackie is appalled when Deacon shows up drunk.
|
Across the room, Nick dines with Massimo. Nick asks Massimo why he wanted to meet here. Mass says it's part of an experiment. He sees Deacon walk in and nearly knock over a waiter; he says their subject has arrived. Nick asks what kind of experiment this is. He looks around the room and sees Deacon approaching Jackie at the Spectra table. He suggests that they leave, but Mass isn't going anywhere. Nick doesn't think it's a good idea to stay here and watch Deacon be a part of Jackie's life. Who says that's what he's doing? Massimo asks.
A drunk Deacon stumbles over to the Spectra table, takes a seat and greets Jackie and their guests. Sally asks Deacon how he's doing; he says he'll be better once he finds a waiter and gets a drink. Thorne tells Deacon that he's anxious to hear about this promotional campaign. Jackie tells Deacon to show them their plans, but Deacon realizes that he forgot them! But he doesn't think that will be a problem, as he can give them all the details once he gets a drink. As a waiter passes by, Deacon rudely stops him and orders a vodka on the rocks. Jackie suggests he's had enough, but he tells her to stop worrying. Sure, he had two or three drinks already, but he didn't even like them!

Sally wonders what's going on with Deacon.
|
As the waiter brings Deacon's drink, Sally asks what's going on, since she knows Deacon hasn't had a drink in years. Some records are meant to be broken, he says, just like her sales figures. He tells them all to lighten up. Yes, he had a drinking problem, but he stopped drinking and got a handle on it. And if his drinking becomes a problem again, he'll stop again, but he sees no reason to worry about that right now.

Massimo and Nick step up to put Deacon down.
|
Massimo and Nick step over, and Mass says that remains to be seen. Deacon sees the grim look on their faces and asks "Popeye" and "Bluto" what's up with the long faces. Nick asks Jackie if she's OK. She's never been better, Deacon says, since she has a guy who can satisfy her. He then asks if he just said that and says he's sorry. Jackie tells Deacon to stop acting up in public, but Deacon says he has nothing to hide. He doesn't think "The Italian Stallion" should have anything to hide, either, so he asks Massimo what it was like to lose his wife to a younger, more virile man. "What can I say?" Mass asks. Nick tells his pop not to take this, but Deacon thinks some confession will be good for Mass's soul. He asks Mass what it's like to be alone in bed at night knowing Jackie's with him. Jackie tells him again to stop, but he still refuses; he thinks Mass has this coming after treating her like a possession. Nick tells Mass to say something, but Mass is content to let Deacon dig his own grave and show his true colors. Deacon says he doesn't have to take this and gets up to confront Mass, but he stumbles and falls to the floor. Jackie goes to help him; Deacon says he's OK, but Mass puts his foot down - literally, on Deacon's chest to hold him down. He says Deacon's said enough and now it's his turn.

Brooke assures Ridge that Bridget and Nick are just friends.
|
At the Big Bear cabin, Brooke spends some time with Ridge before she leaves. She asks if he's OK with her leaving before him. He says he doesn't mind, since he and Bridget will be close behind once they finish their last runs and thaw out - which he thinks is preferable to her driving back with Nick. He's just glad Nick had to leave early. Brooke assures him that Bridget and Nick are just friends: she tells him about her talk with Nick, where Nick assured her that he and Bridget wouldn't be more than friends. Ridge thinks that's great; now he only needs to find a way to keep Thomas away from Amber. He tells Brooke how he caught Thomas on the phone with Amber and laments that his son admitted he called Amber twice because he still worries about her. Brooke thinks that Amber, in her own way, cares about their family, so it's no wonder that she's devastated. He tells Brooke that he loves her. She says she loves him, too, especially for planning this trip to give their family a chance to heal. That just reminds her of why she married him. They kiss.

Clarke is stunned to learn what Amber has done.
|
Out on the ski trail, Amber watches Bridget reach for the glove she left by the mine shaft. She watches anxiously as Bridget slowly reaches for the glove - and even Amber seems shocked as the branch covering over the mine shaft gives way under Bridget's feet and Bridget falls in. Amber then anxiously returns to her rental, where she finds Clarke by the door. She reminds him that she told him to stay put. He says that he was just coming to find her. She asks where her duffel bag is. Clarke points out the bag and asks what happened with Bridget. Amber opens the bag and takes out a tiny TV monitor; as she sets it up, she rambles on about how she never meant for Bridget to get hurt. Clarke now realizes that Amber had some kind of infra-red camera in her mystery box, which she set up when she was down in the shaft. He wonders what she wants to see. Amber tells him to shut up as she tunes the picture in. Clarke looks at the monitor and see someone lying unconscious at the bottom of the mine shaft. No, Amber insists, she's just shaken. She's sure Bridget will be fine.
Clarke asks Amber what she's done. She says she didn't do anything. She insists Bridget is fine and keeps watching the screen. When Bridget starts to move, Amber reminds Clarke that she said Bridget's just fine, and now he can see for himself. Clarke bets that Bridget's wondering what happened, just like he is. He asks if this is some plan to get revenge on the Forresters. No, Amber says, this is to save the Forresters from Ridge! She thinks Ridge has gotten away with bullying people around once too often and she has to put a stop to that. Clarke asks what that has to do with Bridget being at the bottom of that mine shaft. Bridget and Ridge still have feelings for each other, Amber insists. She saw it herself and tried to tell Brooke, but Ridge convinced everyone she was just making trouble. But she's not. She loves the Forresters, and that's what her plan is all about. She intends to get Ridge and Bridget together in that shaft, where they'll act on their feelings and...

Ridge hits the slopes to find Bridget.
|
Back at the cabin, Ridge sends Brooke and the kids on their way. He then goes back inside to wait for Bridget. After some time passes and she hasn't returned, he writes her a note in case they pass each other, puts on his skis and goes to search for her. Meanwhile, in Amber's rental, Clarke asks if she plans to get Ridge in that mine shaft, too. She says that she has to prove that she's not the bad guy. Once she does that, the Forresters will... She hears something and stops herself. She then takes her binoculars and sees Ridge heading out on skis. He must be going to find Bridget, Amber guesses, which means her plan is coming together!
