Clarke fears that Bridget is dead.
In the rental condo, Amber asks Clarke if he's sure he saw a kiss. He says he's sure - and now that she has what she wanted on tape, he orders her to finish her call to mountain rescue. After holding for a while, she finally gets someone on the phone and tells him that she heard voices calling out by the old mine. When the rescue folks tell her help's on the way, she thanks him and hangs up. Meanwhile, Clarke grimly looks at the monitor; he sees that Bridget isn't moving, and from the way Ridge is looking at her, he thinks Bridget is dead! He turns off the monitor. Amber freaks out at the thought that she killed Bridget; Clarke tells her to stop panicking and get her coat. Maybe they can get there and still do something. Amber nervously bundles up and they head for the mine.

Hector agrees to go with Brooke to Big Bear.
At Ridge's house, Hector is looking at some maps when Brooke comes in. She says Thomas and Caitlin agreed to watch Hope and R.J., so she's going to Big Bear. Hector wonders if that's wise, but Brooke can't just wait around any longer. Seeing how determined she is, Hector agrees to take Brooke up there.

Nick finds Ridge and Bridget.
Following the tracks by the creek, Nick calls out for Bridget and Ridge. At first, the only answer he gets is the howling wind. But in the mine shaft, Ridge is crying at the thought of losing Bridget when she had her whole life ahead of her. He can't believe God would take her now. He calls out for help again and hears Nick's voice calling. Although his voice is still weak, he calls out to Nick and tells him they're down here. Nick tells Ridge to hold on and he'll get them out. He asks if they're OK; Ridge says he's fine. What about Bridget? Nick asks. Ridge tells Bridget that Nick found them and is here to help; he begs her to come back to them. Nick calls down to Bridget and tells her that everything's going to be OK. Bridget hears his voice and opens her eyes. Ridge calls up to Nick that she's awake. Nick tells Ridge it's time to dig in and get Bridget out of there!
Soon after, Ridge and Bridget are out of the shaft and being examined by a pair of medics. Ridge asks one how Bridget is; the medic says she's severely hypothermic with possible second to third degree frostbite over several extremities, but he's confident they can use hot packs to hold her temperature long enough to get her to the hospital, where they can stabilize her. Nick says they'll stay out of the medics' way and let them work. One medic offers to check Ridge, but he tells her to focus on Bridget. Ridge then looks to Nick and guesses he's indebted to him forever now; Nick quips for him to save the "thank you" hugs and just call him his idol. Ridge thinks they should call Brooke; Nick offers to do that while Ridge checks on Bridget. The second medic insists on putting Ridge on a stretcher to take him to the hospital to be checked out; Ridge reluctantly agrees. Nick goes over to the stretcher where Bridget lies, wearing an oxygen mask; he lifts the mask and tells her he's staying by her side until he knows she's safe.
Amber and Clarke hide in the bushes as the medics carry Ridge and Bridget's stretchers away. Once the medics are gone, they go over to the mine shaft entrance. Amber asks what she was thinking. Clarke says she wanted to get the goods on Ridge, and she did. And she almost killed someone, Amber cries. She starts to break down; Clarke holds her and tells her to get her act together. He reminds her that they still have to cover their tracks and get the camera out of the mine shaft, since her life will be over if anyone, especially Ridge, finds out what she did. Clarke pulls out some rope while Amber kneels by the shaft entrance, still in shock. Soon after, they return to the rental condo, where Amber cries that Bridget almost died so she could... Get an intimate moment between Ridge and his wife's daughter, Clarke reminds her, which she did. Now he wonders what she'll do next. She says she's not sure. He tells her to let it go. He then says he has to get back to L.A. before Sally misses him. She tells him to go ahead and she'll follow once she straightens up around here.

Nick waits by Bridget's bedside.
In the hospital, Nick stands by Bridget's bedside as she wakes up. She says she wasn't dreaming that he rescued her. He tells her that he never passes up a chance to save a damsel in distress, or the dressmaker that stumbles in after her. How is Ridge? she weakly asks. Ridge comes in and says he's better now that he sees her smiling. He asks how she is. She says she's better since she sees him smile, and since the doctors stabilized her core temperature almost back where it should be. She asks about the frostbite; Ridge says they're monitoring her for that. It's a good thing Nick found them when he did.

Bridget tells Nick he was wrong.
Just then, Brooke bolts in and races to Bridget's bedside. She's so glad to see her daughter is OK and thanks God for that. Ridge tells her that they're both fine. Bridget apologizes for worrying Brooke, who is just glad they're safe. She asks Bridget if she's in pain; Bridget says she's just tired. Nick says the doctors want her to get lots of rest, so maybe they should get out of here and let Bridget relax. He tells Brooke to take care of Ridge. Brooke tells Bridget she loves her and promises to come back later to check on her; she and Ridge leave. Nick then guesses he should be going, too. Bridget tells him that when she was in that shaft, the thing that kept her going was his kiss; that was all she could think about when she feared she wouldn't make it. Nick guesses that's a good thing. Bridget reminds him how he said she could to better than him: she thinks he was wrong about that. Nick leans over and kisses her.

Ridge and Brooke thank Hector for his help.
Out in the hall, Ridge thanks Hector for his help. The fireman is just glad he got to be part of another happy ending, since that's the best part of his job. He thinks he should thank the search and rescue squad, so he gives Brooke and Ridge some time alone. Brooke thanks God that Ridge is OK; Ridge admits things got really grim, especially when he thought that Bridget... She reminds him that he saved Bridget's life. He says he couldn't let her [Brooke] down. She says he never has and never could. They kiss.

Amber refuses to let go.
In the rental condo, Amber watches the image of Ridge kissing Bridget on the monitor. She recalls when she took the first photo of them together: she recalls Ridge's promise not to touch Bridget, and then how frantic Brooke was when she thought Ridge did just that. She remembers how livid Brooke was that Ridge crossed the line, but Ridge sweet talked his way out of that. She then recalls Ridge telling her that what happened with him and Bridget was over, so he wouldn't let her or anyone else dredge it up again. Staring at the monitor, Amber says to herself that she can't let it go, no matter what Clarke said. She has to get Thomas back, and she's sure this is her only hope to do that. She hit paydirt tonight and she intends to use it...
