Bridget wants to get in some more runs on the slopes.
It's morning at Big Bear. Over breakfast, Brooke asks Bridget how late she and Nick were up last night. Bridget isn't sure, since they were talking for a while. Thomas guesses it was quite a chat, since Nick was still asleep when he woke up. Right on cue, Nick enters and agrees that he slept like a baby. Thomas says he didn't, thanks to Nick's snoring. Nick apologizes. Bridget offers Nick some homemade pancakes, but Nick thinks he should be getting back to L.A. for his meeting. Bridget says it's too bad he's leaving, since she wanted to get in a few more runs. She asks Thomas if he wants to go, but he says it's too cold. Bridget, having lived in Copenhagen, isn't bothered by that, even after Ridge says that record low temperatures are expected tonight. Nick tells Brooke that she was right about her daughter's love of the slopes. Thomas however says he's not into that - and besides, he's already packed, so he goes to get Hope and R.J.'s stuff ready to leave.

Nick agrees that Bridget can do better than a "crusty old sailor" like him.
Brooke recalls seeing Nick and Bridget kiss last night. Ridge sees his wife thinking and asks what's wrong. Brooke tells Nick to get going so he doesn't miss his meeting. Nick wants to peek in on the kids first. Bridget offers to join him, but Brooke tells them that Ridge is already doing that. Nick then reminds Bridget of the view she promised to show him last night. Bridget asks, "what view?" but then gets the hint. She tells her mom that she'll only be a minute. She and Nick go outside, where they're silent for a moment. Bridget then asks Capt. Marone why he really brought her out here. He says he wanted to talk to her about last night. Bridget guesses he's talking about the kiss; she says it was wonderful and she'll never forget it, but she realized last night that they can't pursue this. There are just too many complications, the most important being that she can't get involved with another of her mom's ex-lovers. Nick agrees; there's too much history involved, and they might ruin their friendship. That's the last thing Bridget wants to see, since Nick means a lot to her. She thanks him for coming up and tells him she'll stick around for a while. Nick thinks it will be good for her to clear her head, since she can do better than a crusty old sailor like him.

Thomas calls Amber, since he's worried about her.
Amber's by her telescope in her rental, watching the Forresters eat like one big happy family. Maybe they are one big family, Clarke suggests. Amber doesn't think so, since Thomas didn't sound happy on the phone yesterday. Clarke senses that Amber's not happy, either, and he again demands to know what she did in that mine shaft. Before she can answer, Amber gets a call on her cell. It's Thomas. He's still worried about her after their talk yesterday. Amber says she just got a bit emotional, but Thomas is still concerned. She tells him not to be and asks what he's doing. Nothing, he says; he explains that Nick had to get back to Marone, and because it's too cold to ski, he's helping Brooke and the kids back so he can catch a ride back with them. Amber feigns disappointment that they had to end their vacation. Actually, he says, his dad and Bridget are trying to squeeze in some more ski runs before they leave. That Bridget's quite a ski bunny, a pleased Amber quips. Just then, Ridge comes in, so Thomas tells Amber to take care of herself and hangs up.

Ridge asks Thomas to stay away from Amber.
Ridge asks Thomas what he was doing talking to Amber. Thomas says he was just worried after she wasn't at the fashion show, so he's been calling her since yesterday to check on her. Ridge warns him not to let Amber suck him back in this way. Thomas says Amber is still hurting after all she's lost over their break-up, but Ridge thinks Amber did this to herself. Thomas says Amber didn't sound like herself, and he worries about her cryptic comments. He wonders what she meant when she said his dad needed a wake-up call. Ridge recalls his last meeting with Amber and admits he was rather harsh, even if it was deserved, in telling her she had no place with Thomas or in this family. Thomas tries to convince his dad that Amber's not out for revenge, but Ridge won't hear of it. He tells Thomas to get ready to leave, but he intends to talk about this some more when they get home. He wants Thomas to stay away from Amber and her chats, for his own good.

Clarke still wants to know about Amber's plans.
Amber tells Clarke that Thomas's call proves that he still cares about her. Then why not call off this crazy scheme? Clarke asks. Not when everything is falling into place, Amber says. With Ridge and Bridget staying behind while everyone else heads back to L.A., she thinks the timing is perfect. She knows how addicted Ridge and Bridget are to skiing, even in this bitter cold, so she thinks she'll get her chance to execute her plans. She tells Clarke to put down his coffee and check on the cabin through the telescope. Clarke looks down on the cabin and sees Nick step back inside while Bridget puts on her skis for some cross-country skiing. Amber asks which way Bridget was headed. When Clarke said she took the trail on the west side of the house, Amber thinks this is it: Clarke asks what she means; he thought she wanted to trap Ridge, so why is she involving Bridget? Every trap needs bait, Amber says as she bundles up, tells Clarke to hold down the fort and heads out.

Brooke tells Nick to end any feelings he has for Bridget.
In the cabin, Brooke asks Nick where Bridget is. When he says she went skiing by herself, Brooke looks worried. He asks what's wrong. Bridget only goes off by herself when she has something on her mind, Brooke says, and she thinks she knows what it is. She tells Nick that she saw him kissing Bridget last night. Since Ridge isn't in his face about that kiss right now, Nick guesses that she hasn't told her hubby about the smooch yet; she says she wanted to give him a chance to explain first. There's nothing to explain, Nick says: it was just a kiss in the heat of the moment. Whatever it was, Brooke says, it has to end. She knows he cares for Bridget and has been her friend, but that's as far as this can go. Nick tells her that he and Bridget just talked about this, and he told her the exact thing. They both agreed that they shouldn't cross that line, no matter how mature they think they are, since they didn't want to risk losing their friendship. And besides, a pretty young doctor could do better than some crusty old sailor. Brooke says he's not quite old, and he's been good for Bridget, which is why she's glad they agree on this. Nick assures her that Bridget's in no danger from him.

Amber hides and watches Bridget get lured into her trap.
Out on the slopes, Amber (bundled up, with her face hidden behind a thick pair of goggles) waits behind a tree and spots Bridget coming. She watches as Bridget pauses; Bridget flashes back to the kiss with Nick and smiles. Amber then starts to wave and call out for help. She starts running; Bridget skis after her. When the disguised Amber crosses a bridge, Bridget takes off her skis to follow. Amber leaves one of her gloves by the covered mine shaft, hides and says to herself that she's gone this far, so this has to work. Bridget looks around and doesn't see the woman who called for help. She sees the glove however and starts to make her way over to it, continuing to call out for the woman in trouble. Just a little more, an anxious Amber says to herself. Just one more step, she says as Bridget gets ever closer to the mine shaft, still covered with branches as Amber and Clarke left it.
