Brooke and Thomas tell Hector what's happened.
At Ridge's place, a frantic Brooke can't get Ridge on his cell phone. Thomas reminds her how bad the reception is in those mountains; he's sure his dad will find Bridget and get them home. The doorbell rings; Thomas hopes that's them, but he finds Hector at the door instead. Hector explains that Brooke asked him over. Brooke thanks him for coming; she hopes his fire department connections might help find Ridge and Bridget. Hector says he'll do what he can and tells her to sit down and give him the details. Thomas goes to close the door but sees Caitlin, wearing a fur-trimmed jacket (in the middle of the day in L.A.?), standing there. She says she heard that Bridget's missing. Thomas says his dad is, too. Brooke worries that Ridge and Bridget have been missing for over a day, and it's gotten even colder up there. Caitlin thinks her dad knows some of the guys on mountain rescue; Hector confirms that he's helped with some fires up there, so he'll make some calls and see what he can find out.

Hector calls in reinforcements to help Brooke.
In no time, Hector's on the phone with a deputy at mountain rescue giving him information on Bridget's favorite trails. He says that Eddie at the Big Bear Fire Department is available to help, as is he. He thanks the deputy and hangs up. Brooke asks what they said. Hector says they have two search parties out, with snowmobile, helicopters and the works. They're guessing Bridget just skied of course but aren't ruling anything out. Brooke is sure something happened, since they haven't called. Thomas reminds her that his dad and Bridget both know their way around Big Bear and wouldn't do anything stupid. Hector bets Ridge has even found Bridget already and is just trying to get to a house or ranger station to call.

Nick desperately searches for Bridget and Ridge.
Meanwhile, up on the ski trails, Nick follows Ridge and Bridget's trail like a man on a mission. He calls out for both Bridget and Forrester, but gets no answer; he thinks it's like they fell off the planet. Still, he presses on. He recalls his kiss with Bridget and wonders where she could be. Finally, he reaches the bridge where Ridge and Bridget took off their skis; he recognizes one pair as Ridge's and then sees footprints in the snow, so he follows the tracks.

Clarke shows Amber a flaw in her plans.
Amber's in her rental condo, watching Ridge and Bridget on the monitor. Clarke points out that they're freezing in the mine shaft and asks Amber how long she's going to hold them hostage. Until Ridge acts on his feelings for Bridget, a determined Amber says. She thinks she's come too far to back out now. She knows Ridge wants Bridget and will wait for him to take her, so they can get this over with. Clarke says that Ridge and Bridget are huddling together to keep warm, not because of lust. He doesn't think anything romantic will happen. OK, Amber admits, maybe it was a stupid plan. Maybe? Clarke asks. OK, Amber admits, it was - but Ridge drove her to it by turning Thomas and Stephanie against her when she was trying to warn the family. When they see this, they'll see she was right. Clarke asks if she thinks the Forresters will thank her for ambushing Ridge and Bridget, imprisoning them in a mine shaft and watching them freeze to death on TV. Amber stares at the monitor and considers the question.

Ridge tries to get Bridget to hold on.
In the mine shaft, Ridge urges a barely conscious Bridget to hold on as he calls out again for help. Bridget tells him to take his coat back. He says she needs it more, but she says she's not cold anymore. In fact, she can't feel anything. Her hands and feet are numb.

Ridge asks what he can do. She says that's the way frostbite works; the extremities are first to go, since the body protects the vital organs. Now her temperature will keep dropping and her body will start to spasm until she just loses consciousness from heart and lung failure. Ridge says that won't happen, but she says it's inevitable, so she begs him to take his coat. He refuses. She says she has no heat for the clothing to save, so he should take it to keep his own heat. He says he has plenty of heat. She tells him to get home safe, since he needs to take care of Brooke and the kids. They both do, he says, which is why he needs her to just hold on and come home with him. She starts to slip away. He tells her she has plenty to live for. She says she didn't think so until Nick showed her. She thinks there's more to Nick than the salty sailor man. He's funny and sweet and a good kisser. Ridge is surprised that Nick kissed her. Just once, she says; she liked it, but Nick said it would never work because she could “do better.” But he was wrong. She knows Nick really loves Ridge and begs Ridge to be good to him. She starts to slip away again; Ridge tells her to stay awake for him and calls again for help.

Amber remains convinced that Ridge will act on his feelings.
Back at the rental condo, Clarke begs Amber to call someone to help Ridge and Bridget. She says she just needs five more minutes. He says she's been saying that all afternoon. She says the police probably already know; in fact, Brooke probably has the whole county searching by now. The police don't know where they are, Clarke points out - but they do, which is why he wants to call in an anonymous tip right now. Amber tells him not to: her future with Thomas is riding on her getting this evidence, and she's sure something's going to happen! She goes back to the monitor and watches Ridge and Bridget huddle in the mine shaft. Clarke stares at her until she finally breaks down and calls the Ranger Station, only to be put on hold! She doesn't want to hold, but Clarke orders her to do it!

With Bridget having slipped away, Ridge kisses her.
Ridge tells Bridget to stay with him. She says she's still here and tells him not to worry. She's sure they'll find him, so he can get back to Brooke and make her happy. And she wants him to be happy, too, because she loves them all. He says they love her, too. She just feels so tired. She struggles to keep her eyes open. Ridge tells her to sleep if she needs to, since he'll be right here. She says she will. He tells her, “Good night, princess.” She closes her eyes. Ridge then leans over and gives her a gentle kiss on the lips.

In the rental condo, Amber continues to hold as Clarke glances at the monitor and sees the kiss. “Oh my God!” he cries out. Amber says she's trying, but they have her on hold. He tells her that she got it: Ridge kissed Bridget! Still holding the phone, Amber can't believe it. “I got it?” she asks.

At the bottom of the mine shaft, a sobbing Ridge holds Bridget's limp body as the wind howls above him.
