Eric helps Stephanie find the holiday spirit.
At the Forrester mansion, Stephanie looks at the Christmas tree. She thinks back to Felicia telling her and Eric in the hospital that she wanted a Christmas at home like they used to have. Even though she's sad, she starts to decorate the tree, but when she drops an ornament, she says she can't do this and starts to cry. Eric arrives with eggnog fixings and decorations and is pleased to see that Stephanie is already started, but she says she's finished. But the tree isn't decorated yet, Eric says. Stephanie tells him that even though she knows this is what Felicia wants, she just can't face celebrating right now. Eric says he knows, and that's why he's here. He tells her that they can do this together to make a magical Christmas for their daughter, and he thinks they should start with the tree. Stephanie says he always does this; as he starts on the tree, Eric jokes that this is usually her job, while his is the eggnog. She says she meant that he can make anything beautiful. She's the realist, she says, while he's the dreamer. Eric agrees with the apt description of them.

Nick reminds Bridget that life is full of surprises.
At the beach house, Bridget comes out of the bedroom and finds Nick feeding Dominick. He asks if she wants to help, but she thinks he has it under control. He asks if she slept in today; she admits hitting the snooze button a few times. They won't be doing that much longer, Nick says, pointing up how he stayed up most of the night with his restless son. Bridget admits that she couldn't sleep either, since she was thinking about how raising Dominick would signal the end for her dream of the two of them having a scandal free life with their own child. She had hoped to spare her own child the drama she experienced growing up. Nick agreed that all parents want perfect lives for their kids, but he also knew that life didn't work that way. He reminds her of all the things he's felt since he found out he had a son. Bridget says she was thinking of his son, too; she kept wondering if she could give the baby the love he deserved once her own child was born. Nick said they had time to think about that. Right now, he wants to take a shower and take Dominick to see Felicia. Bridget offers to do it, as she's headed to the hospital anyway, and she doesn't have time to watch the baby while Nick showers. Nick agrees, so Bridget packs up Dominick to go see his mom.

Brooke wonders if Bridget can be a mother to Dominick.
After Bridget leaves, Brooke drops by. She tells Nick that she heard about Dominick and wanted to see how he and Bridget were holding up. Nick thinks his son is easy for him to love, but he worries that Bridget is struggling. Brooke sees where this can't be easy for her daughter. She knows Dominick deserves a life with his father, especially with Felicia dying. She's just not sure if Bridget is ready to be a mother to that boy. Nick says he's sorry Bridget has to go through this. Brooke tells him it's not his fault. Life doesn't always turn out like you planned, Nick laments. In Bridget's case, Brooke laments, nothing has turned out as planned, which is why Bridget wants stability. She thinks Bridget found that with her plans to start a future with Nick, but now this is happening. Brooke feels terrible that Felicia won't see her son grow up, and she is sure Bridget agrees, but she doesn't think you can raise a child on sympathy. Nick thinks his wife has what it takes. But no matter how good you think someone is, Brooke fears, there's only so much they can take.

Taylor offers Felicia advice.
Taylor is in the hospital with Felicia, trying to see if there's anything she can do. Felicia wants to go see her son, so Taylor offers to talk to the doctor and see if she can get Felicia released. Besides that, the only thing Felicia wants is for her son to be with his father when she's gone, but she's not sure if Bridget is ready to love her son. Taylor thinks that if anyone in the family has love to offer that baby, it would be Bridget. Felicia asks Taylor about how Bridget helped Ridge raise Thomas and the twins for a while (when Taylor was presumed dead). Taylor thinks that was different, since Bridget was single and alone, looking for a sense of family. Now Bridget is married and expecting her own child. Felicia thinks that should make Bridget more capable of love. Taylor agrees, but she also sees how this might be difficult given Bridget's recent difficulties. That's why she fears Felicia is expecting too much right now. She's not trying to discourage Felicia, but she also wants Felicia to be realistic. Felicia says she knew, from the first time she saw Nick hold their son, that Dominick belongs with his father. And they'll always be together, Taylor says, even if it's not under the same roof. Felicia understands that Bridget has a tough choice ahead. She recalls her own tough choice to forgo radiation treatment so her son could be born; it was difficult, but she knows it was the right choice. She just hopes raising Dominick will be the right choice for Bridget.

Bridget brings Dominick to see his mother.
After Taylor leaves, Bridget and Dominick arrive. Felicia is glad to see her son and holds him, asking Bridget how things went last night. Bridget says that Dominick stayed up most of the night with Nick and asks how Felicia is. Felicia just looks to her son. Bridget tells her that they need to talk. Felicia guesses that means Bridget has made a decision. Bridget doesn't want to lie that this was easy, since she stayed up all night thinking about how to do this without this baby interfering in her life. When she got up this morning, she found her answer, truthfully the only one she could give. Felicia thinks that means Bridget is saying no, but Bridget says that she's saying yes; she will raise Felicia's son as her own. Felicia asks Bridget about her statement just now that she didn't know if she could do this last night. Bridget admits that was true. But once she saw Dominick with Nick this morning, having breakfast, she saw the joy on their faces and knew she couldn't turn this child away. She realized that this is her nephew and her husband's son. "And he'll be your son, too, when the time comes," Felicia says.

Felicia learns Bridget's decision.
Bridget says that she might be raising Dominick as her own, but Felicia will always be his mother. Felicia says there is lots of Nick in her son, too. Bridget says she'll love that boy even more for that. Felicia asks Bridget if she's really sure about this, since this is happening so fast. Bridget promises to give Dominick the same love as her own daughter. She knows this may seem sudden, but Nick reminded her this morning how you sometimes have to deal with unexpected things in life. When she's had to deal with such things in the past, they've usually been bad, but she sees now that they don't always have to be. To be honest, she admits that both of Nick's children were unplanned surprises, so this is the last place they thought they'd be at this time of their lives. Even so, she and Nick are happy and starting a family, even if it's a bigger one than they planned. That's why she can promise Dominick the best life they have to offer, with two parents and a sister that will always love him. Felicia starts to cry. Bridget promises to tell Dominick all about his brave, loving mommy once he's old enough, since she knows Felicia will always be watching over him. Still crying, Felicia thanks Bridget. They tearfully exchange "I love you"s and hug each other.
