Hector accepts Stephanie's invitation.
|
At the Forrester mansion, Eric and Stephanie get the mansion ready for Christmas dinner. Meanwhile, Felicia gets a laugh as Taylor is reminded just how much bourbon Eric uses to flavor his eggnog. Felicia asks if Thomas and the twins are coming after dinner. They're coming after chorus practice, Taylor explains. Felicia says she's sorry Ridge isn't here, since this can't be the Christmas Taylor expected. Taylor thinks that's true of Felicia, too. Just then, Hector drops by to drop off a Christmas gift for Stephanie and is surprised to see Taylor there. Stephanie spots the fireman and greets him. She tells him that she's short one man at the table with Ridge caught in a snowstorm. And since she bets Caitlin is in New York with her mother, Stephanie invites Hector to stay. Hector doesn't want to impose, but Stephanie insists, so he accepts the offer.

Dante watches as Massimo meets his new grandson.
|
As Thorne and his crew head into the main room, Dante and Massimo arrive. Felicia sees Stephanie greeting them, so she picks up baby Dominick from his bassinet and brings him over to Massimo, who is thrilled to get to hold his new grandson the way he never got to hold his son Dominick. Meanwhile, Stephanie asks Eric to get Felicia to slow down; she's worry about all the effort Felicia has put in today. Eric thinks Felicia knows her limits and reminds Stephanie that today is for Felicia; he compliments her on making today special for their daughter. Eric suggests they sing some songs, so he gathers everyone around the piano and plays "Jingle Bells." While everyone else joins in, Hector tells Taylor how surprised he is that Ridge isn't here. Once Ridge realized he was going to miss Christmas, Taylor explains, Ridge decided to stay away a few more days, Hector says he'd have thought that Ridge would make a special effort for Taylor's first Christmas back home.

Thorne does a favor for Bridget.
|
Outside, Nick and Bridget arrive. Bridget feels the baby kick and jokes that the baby must not like her grandpa's piano playing. Nick hopes the baby prefers Daddy's singing. Just then, Brooke arrives with Hope and R.J. Hope runs over to Uncle Nick, who picks up RJ. Bridget and Brooke exchange greetings. Bridget then notices Nick hasn't greeted Brooke, and asks if they aren't speaking, so the two wish each other Merry Christmas before heading to the door. Thorne answers the door and lets them in. As the others join the party, Bridget asks Thorne for a favor. has a video camera and asks Thorne if he can capture everything on tape, so she can show Dominick his first Christmas, and his mom, once he's old enough. Thorne agrees. In the living room, Dante sees Felicia watching Massimo and the baby and asks if that's hers. Felicia quips that she hasn't been dancing on any bars lately. Dante asks if the baby is Nick's. Felicia asks if he knows Nick. He says yes. She says she thought marriage would mellow Nick and asks Dante if he knows Nick's wife. Dante excuses himself to get a drink.
Bridget hears a knock at the door and is surprised to find the minister who performed her and Nick's first wedding there. He asks if she and Nick are trying again to get married. Bridget tells him that she's already Mrs. Marone, so she's not sure why he's here. She leads him into the living room and asks if anyone's getting married. Stephanie asks Brooke who it is this time; when Brooke is silent, Stephanie asks the minister if someone is really getting married. The minister explains that he got a message to come here for the Forrester/Marone service, so he assumed... Felicia comes in and says she called the minister for a Christening.

Jackie meets her grandson/godson.
|
Eric answers the door and greets Jackie, telling her how glad he is to see her. Stephanie asks Felicia why she didn't tell her about the Christening: she would have been glad to... To tell the minister some fairy tale about her and her baby, Felicia says. She then turns to the minister and says that she's far from virtuous and never even believed in God much, until she delivered a son that the doctors said should never even have been born. By giving her this child, God answered prayers she didn't know she was even saying. Then she found out she was dying, but she doesn't hold that against God, either, since he sent her a wonderful woman who will raise her child after she's gone. She sees now that her son Dominick belongs to God, so she's like the minister to baptize her son. Since the call for baptism comes from God, the minister says, how can he say no? Felicia sees Eric and Jackie enter and says that the godparents are here, one grandparent from each side. Massimo hands the baby to Nick, who introduces Jackie to her grandson and godson.
As Darla gathers everyone for the Christening, she hears Taylor tell Hector that she tells Ridge everything, so he knows she and Hector came to... Taylor stops when Darla comes over, and she and Hector join the others in the living room. Jackie and Eric stand to the left of the minister, with Felicia and Bridget to the right. Nick gives baby Dominick to Jackie and takes his place between Felicia and Bridget. The minister performs the ceremony, which Thorne gets on film.
Felicia takes Nick upstairs and gives him a gift, a new guitar. She says it's not a Christmas present; she had it in the car when she came to the Marlin the other day, she says. She then jokes that she wanted to break it over his head when she found out he was married. Nick thanks her with a kiss on the cheek. She laughs that it would have been a disaster had they gotten together, but Nick isn't sure that's true. If it didn't start that way, she says, it would be a tragedy now with his losing the mother of his child. He is losing her, he says, and it is tragic. It's not that he didn't care enough, he says, but that she didn't care enough about herself. But Dominick fixed that, she says, thanking Nick for giving her the answer to everything in her that was haywire. Now she's giving that back to him. They embrace. They then go downstairs, where Nick looks for Hope. Hope asks Nick to sing for them, so he sings "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." Felicia looks up and sees Bridget standing on the balcony.
During the song, Stephanie looks at Felicia and, overcome with emotion, silently leaves the room and goes outside the front entrance. Felicia sees and follows after her. Outside, Stephanie breaks into tears and apologizes for being such a horrible mother. Felicia tells her mom not to stop being a horrible mother, since that will mean Felicia will have to stop being a horrible daughter. What will happen to them then? The two women embrace and exchange "I love yous." Eric finds them outside. Stephanie laments that she looks like a fright with all these people inside. Eric says she is a fright, but everyone's used to it. Stephanie laughs, and Eric puts his arm around her shoulder and leads her back indoors, kissing her on the forehead.
Inside, Felicia joins Bridget on the balcony as Nick continues his song. They join hands. Felicia says, "I believe I've had the perfect day." Bridget says that now, Dominick will have it too. Felicia looks down and sees Thorne capturing the event with the video camera. She asks, "Who are all these beautiful people? How little I know about the characters in the story of my life. Where does all the time go? Did I waste it? Did it waste me?" The scene shifts to the assembled guests, having a good time around the dinner table as Thorne captures it on tape. Felicia continues, "They'll miss me for a little while, when I'm gone. I don't mind. It's not so much the dying part. It's just not knowing how the story turns out. It's the missing them. They say that you can choose your friends, but not your family. But you do. Every morning, you put them on, like a worn shirt. Loving them, hating them, it doesn't matter. I chose them long ago. Before I knew anything. Before I was anything." The scene shifts to Thorne putting the camera down and joining the others for a holiday shot, as Felicia continues, "And now I chose you. Thank you for being my story. The only one I've ever had." We see Felicia still on the balcony with Bridget, saying, "Thank you for being my heart. When I go to sleep, I'll be listening for you." Bridget puts her arm around Felicia.
Then, in typical holiday fashion, the scene shifts to the cast and crew of B&B gathered in the Forrester living room, with John McCook (Eric) saying, "From our family here at 'The Bold and the Beautiful' to yours..." The whole group joins in, saying, "Happy Holidays."
