Taylor asks Thorne for help.
At the Bel Air mansion, Ridge spends some quality time with Hope and RJ. In the living room, Taylor thanks Thorne for dropping by. Thorne asks if there's been word from Bridget. Taylor is surprised that he knows. He explains that Eric told him that she might be counseling Bridget. He asks if she needs help running interference with his mother, who obviously still can't butt out of other people's lives. Taylor agrees that Bridget needs lots of help, but she actually asked him over to talk about Ridge. She feels like Ridge is distracted, and she can't help but think that he hasn't gotten over Brooke. He's trying to please everyone, she laments. And not pleasing anyone, Thorne guesses. Taylor wishes Ridge could just forget about her feelings and Brooke's and be honest about his own feelings; she doesn't think they can move on until he does. That's why she needs Thorne's help; she wants him to talk to Ridge and help him sort out his feelings. And to report back to her? Thorne asks. Taylor says she'd never ask that of him. She just wants Ridge to open up to someone, since it's not healthy for him to hold back those emotions.

Thorne bonds with his brother.
Before long, Ridge joins his brother in the living room, Thorne says that he saw the girls going out and comments that Alexandria is always asking to spend more time with her cousins. Ridge says that he knows, and he's sorry that they haven't been around much lately. Thorne understands that Ridge has been busy. Still, Ridge thinks spending some time around an "uncomplicated" family would be good for him. Thorne points out that even the happiest marriages are complicated. Ridge admits that being here with Taylor and the kids still seems like a miracle, but he can't forget that he has two families. Sometimes, when he's with Thomas and the girls, he thinks about Hope and RJ. And when he's with Taylor... He thinks about Brooke? Thorne asks. But Brooke has moved on, Ridge reminds him. "The question is," Thorne responds, "have you?"
Ridge admits that it's hard to think about Brooke moving on.
Thorne recalls how Stephanie manipulated Ridge into renewing his vows with Taylor; he doesn't think Ridge would have done it so spur of the moment if given a choice. Ridge agrees. But would he still have done it? Thorne asks. Ridge can't answer that; he loves Taylor, but he has to admit that Brooke's been a big part of his life, too. For the last few years, she and the kids were everything to him. And back when he was fighting with Eric and Thorne, Brooke was still there for him, even if she disagreed with him. Thorne asks if he feels guilty. Just then, Taylor approaches from the foyer and listens. She hears Ridge say that he wants Brooke to be happy, but it's odd to think about her meeting some new guy who will help her raise Hope and RJ. Thorne senses that this is a problem for Ridge, who says that it's a problem for him and Taylor. Taylor keeps saying that he should leave Brooke behind, and he probably should. But he doesn't think he can. Taylor hears that and doesn't look happy.

Bridget laments what she's done.
Bridget's back in her hotel, looking at a photo of her and Nick. Nick loved her, she laments, and she wants to believe him. As "Soul Reason" plays in the background, Bridget recalls better times with Nick: dinner by the pool, stargazing from the Shady Marlin, sledding at Big Bear, kissing while getting soaked in the rain, making love, his proposal and their first aborted wedding. She starts to cry and reaches for the phone. Dante asks if she's sure about this. She lied to Nick, she cries, and he deserves to know the truth. So does she, Dante says. She thinks it was wrong to set Nick up to see how committed he is. It's a test, Dante says, not a set-up. But it was wrong, Bridget says, wondering what she was thinking. Dante reminds her that her mother and Nick admitted having feelings for each other. Which they said they'd get over, Bridget comments. But how can they? Dante asks. They might even be together right now. If they are, Bridget says, it's because she threw Nick into her mother's arms.

Dante reminds Bridget why she tested Nick.
Dante tells Bridget that she never had a man who was fully devoted to her, but she can change that now, since that man is standing right in front of her. But it wouldn't be love, Bridget says. She's sorry, but she's in love with Nick and hates lying to him. She thinks this whole plan to "test" him was a terrible mistake, especially after seeing how devastated he was after she told him she'd aborted their child. Dante insists that Nick was heartbroken over losing the baby. Their baby, Bridget says, the one they talked about in planning their life together. Nick never gave up on them, but she hurt him by taking that from him. She can't take this anymore. Dante tells her to wait just one more night to get all the answers she'll ever need.

Nick realizes his responsibility in what happened with Bridget.
Nick drops by Brooke's to see if she's heard from Bridget. She says she hasn't, although she's tried over and over. She just wishes she could understand why Bridget aborted the baby. She tells Nick she's sorry to go on this way, as she knows he's still angry and hurt. He tells her that she was right last night when she said that they were responsible; after thinking about it, he sees that Bridget was right not to trust them after they admitted having feelings for each other. Feelings they'll never act on, Brooke says. Still, Nick promised to protect and love Bridget no matter what, so it's no wonder she did something so against her beliefs. Brooke suggests getting Bridget counseling; they can be part of it if they're part of the problem. Nick says that won't bring his child back. But Bridget still might forgive him, Brooke suggests. Nick doesn't see that happening, since he can't forgive Bridget. But he loves Bridget, Brooke reminds him. Nick doesn't think that's enough, since the respect and trust are gone. Is he saying it's over? Brooke asks.

Catherine considers Brooke's reaction to the "abortion."
Catherine listens at the top of the stairs. She hears Nick say that Bridget deserves to be happy and then goes back to her work. Nick tells Brooke that he doesn't know why he ever got into a relationship, since it only brought hurt to Bridget, to her or even to Hope. Brooke reminds him that Bridget and Hope both love him. Nick asks if Hope's there; Brooke tells him that the kids are with Ridge. They should be with their dad, Nick says. He turns to leave. Brooke says he shouldn't be alone. He says he won't be alone; he's going back to the only lady he really understands. Brooke thinks he means the Marlin and suggests that he get his life with Bridget back on course first. That started with a shipwreck, he replies, so it's only fitting that it ends that way. He kisses her on the forehead and leaves. A bit later, Brooke looks at a photo of Bridget as Catherine comes in and asks if something's wrong. Brooke tells her that Bridget terminated her pregnancy and asks if she's heard from Bridget. Catherine feigns surprise that Bridget would ever do that. Brooke explains that Bridget thinks it's over with Nick, and now Nick just wants to give up. Catherine says that Brooke must have a lot on her mind, so she asks if she can run some errands before picking up the kids. Brooke says OK, so Catherine leaves.
Brooke then sees a story in the paper, "Coast Braces for Deadly Storm," reporting a violent storm moving up the coast. Brooke suddenly recalls what Nick said about going back to the only lady he ever understood: she thought he meant the boat, but he was talking about the sea! And then he said he and Bridget started with a shipwreck and will end with one: she fears that Nick plans to sail right into that storm!
Aboard the Shady Marlin, Nick prepares to set sail, despite warnings on the radio for small craft to stay anchored. Screw it, he decides as he gets the boat ready. The wind blows the door open; as Nick goes to close it, Brooke comes down the stairs. He tells her to leave, but she says she's not letting him go! A radio report warns about force 9 gales with 20 ft. seas; Brooke hears that and asks how he could go out in that. He says he's been in worse. If he's planning to kill himself, Brooke says, he has to stop running. Why? he asks; he's not doing any good here for her or her family. Brooke says he's been a rock for them. And Bridget killed his child, he reminds her. That was wrong, Brooke says, but running won't fix anything. She asks if he even meant to say goodbye. No, he says, since he knew she'd just try to stop him. Brooke says she intends to do just that, since he's the only man who ever stood by her. He thinks Bridget might forgive her if he's gone. She tells him that she won't forgive him if he leaves. Why should he stay, he asks, if he can't help Bridget or even himself? Brooke grabs his arm and tells him to let her help him, then. She can't believe he wants to kill himself. He asks why he shouldn't, since he lost his child. Bridget must not love him anymore, because she would never have aborted the child if she did.

Brooke tells Nick she loves him!
"Maybe you're right," Brooke cries out. "Maybe Bridget doesn't love you anymore. But damn it, I do!" She repeats the words, "I do" as the camera pans from Brooke to Nick.
