Brooke wants nothing to do with Stephanie's gift.
At Brooke's house, Stephanie waits for Brooke to take the gift box from her. Brooke tells Stephanie that neither she nor Bridget needs anything from her. Stephanie asks how she knows without seeing it. Isn't it for Bridget? Brooke asks. It is, Stephanie says, but it's a gift only Brooke can give Bridget, and her baby - if there still is one, that is. Brooke says that Bridget would never do that, but Stephanie asks if the hurt Bridget who ran out of here was the loving daughter Brooke knows. Brooke thinks Stephanie is blaming her, but Stephanie says she isn't. In fact, she thinks she sees, thanks to her own humiliation and loss, that Brooke is a victim, too. She again asks Brooke if she loves Bridget and would do anything for her. Of course, Brooke says. Then open the box, Stephanie says. Brooke asks if it's alive. No, Stephanie says, but it's life giving in the right hands. Brooke is dubious that a little box could solve her problems. And besides, Bridget is with Nick right now. And Nick is making the same promises as before, Stephanie says; she suggests that it's over for those two. "And you blame me for it," Brooke accuses. Actually, Stephanie says, she isn't. She doesn't think Brooke is consciously doing it, but for some reason, men, including Nick, see Brooke as the "ultimate sexual refuge." Brooke says she never pretended to be anything she's not and asks if she was supposed to slam the door in Nick's face. He would just come back, Stephanie says - but luckily for Brooke, she has a way to close that door forever in that small box.

Stephanie claims to have the answer to Brooke's woes.
Stephanie tells Brooke that Bridget can't lose another man to her mother, and she doesn't think Bridget will have this baby if there's even the slightest chance that Brooke will raise it with Nick. Brooke says she wouldn't, but Stephanie reminds her of what happened with Deacon. Brooke says she'd tell Nick not to come over. That didn't work with Deacon, Stephanie replies. She asks if Brooke is tired of all this. Brooke says she never meant to hurt Taylor, or Taylor's kids. "Or me?" Stephanie asks. Yes, Brooke admits. She just wanted to live her life. But now she's hurt her daughter. She asks how it came to this. Stephanie says the answers are in front of her. She had her eyes opened to her own blind spots by Brooke, so now she's here to return the favor with what's in that box. Brooke suggests that she go to Paris or Milan for a while, but Stephanie thinks Bridget will need a complete break in order to trust Nick again. Brooke asks how she could do that. Open the box, Stephanie says. Brooke says that Ridge would never let her take RJ away. RJ will be fine, Stephanie says, and Ridge will understand. They all will. Brooke asks if Stephanie made reservations for her. She won't need them, Stephanie says, again motioning toward the box.

Stephanie's gift goes over with a bang!
As Brooke hesitantly opens the box, Stephanie says she can travel light, with just what she's wearing. Stephanie takes out some white gloves and puts them on; Brooke asks why. Stephanie asks what the color white represents. Brooke says weddings or Christmas. Purity? Stephanie asks. Or innocence? Brooke doesn't like where this is headed and tells Stephanie to leave, but Stephanie opens the box and tells Brooke she'll be there before she knows it. Stephanie then removes an antique gun from the box, cocks it and says Brooke will be there, quick as a bang!

Nick is confused by Bridget's actions.
At the beach house, Nick hugs Bridget. He's so happy to hold her and their child, and he loves her so much. Bridget gets up and walks away; she thinks there's nothing more to say. He asks if she's seen a doctor; she says yes. Then come back to the boat with him, he says. Bridget says that's not why she asked him here. Nick admits that they said some ugly things last night that they can't take back, but he has no intention of leaving her. He takes out her engagement ring and tries to put it on, as she should never have taken it off in the first place. She had to do it, she says. But she was wrong, he says. It's not his decision, Bridget says as she walks out on the deck. Nick follows and says that it is. He knows that she needed something from him last night, but she wouldn't let him talk. That's why he wants her to come with him and set sail. They'll come back when the baby's born, and then they'll do something he never thought he'd do: they'll move into a normal house in a normal neighborhood to raise their child. She asks if he wants to run away WITH her, or if he wants to run away FROM her mother. She wonders how she fits into this fantasy of his. She's the reason for it, he says. She asks if he knows how hard it would be for her to have him to herself for months, only to then lose him. Nick says that won't happen, but Bridget can't be sure, which is why she'd rather be with no one than risk that. Nick tells her that things have changed; she's carrying THEIR child. He promises not to let her down again. If he thought of her and the baby as some kind of package deal, she tells him, she's sorry, but they're not.

Dante fantasizes about a life with Bridget.
Meanwhile, Dante stops his jeep on a dirt road and looks through binoculars at the beach house, hoping that Bridget will stay strong. As he looks at the ocean, he fantasizes of him and Bridget, living in Italy as they receive the news that she's carrying their first child. The thought makes him smile, but he then comes back to reality.
At the beach house. Nick tells Bridget that he wants them to be together for this child. She tells him that she talked all night about their relationship with Dante, thinking about what was right and what wasn't. Nick says that Dante would say anything to undermine him. Bridget asks how he could begrudge her a friend to talk to after what he and her mom put her through. At least Dante tells her the truth, she says as she walks back in. Nick suggests that he lied to her because he didn't know how to tell her that every man she's loved treated her like dirt, which made her bitter. But that didn't happen to him. Even when it didn't work out with Brooke, it was no one's fault, and Brooke never gave him a reason to stop caring about her. Bridget guesses she didn't either. Nick says that he's trying to be honest about his connection with Brooke, but he doesn't think that has anything to do with the two of them. Bridget tells him that she grew up with Brooke, and every man she cared about - her uncles, her father and even her husband - made Brooke the center of their world, and she won't go through that with him.
[Note from Scott: I don't know what Bridget meant about her uncles, since her Uncle Storm never lusted after his own sister, and we've never even seen Uncle John. Maybe she meant half-brothers Thorne and (since he still considers her dad to be his) Ridge and said uncles because of those raging hormones? But I digress...]

Bridget tells Nick that she doesn't have what he wants anymore.
Nick tells Bridget that she's overreacting. They almost lost Hope, he reminds her. And he talks like Hope is his daughter, she points out - which makes her what? She thinks it's insane and incestuous, since he wants a child with her mother, not her - and now she's freeing him to do that. But he's not free, he says. Why not? she asks. She sees that their love wasn't enough to hold onto him, and now it's hurting her, so she begs him to go. If he doesn't, she will. Nick won't leave, so Bridget turns and goes out. Nick follows her onto the porch and says there's a child involved. She says that she never told him there was a child and runs onto the beach. Nick follows and asks what she means. She tells him to go and be with her mother and runs off, but Nick follows again. When he catches her, he tells her that Stephanie said she was pregnant. He doesn't owe her anything, she says. He reminds her that Stephanie was there when she took the test. That was then, she says, but she doesn't have what he wants anymore. She runs off, leaving a shocked Nick behind.
