Eric tells Stephanie of his offer to Brooke - and his proposal.
Stephanie is sitting in her darkened living room, looking at family photo albums. Eric stops by to pick up some things. He says he didn't see her there. She asks if he expected her to be with her children. He tells her that she can wallow in self-pity here all she wants once he gets the rest of his things. She says she'll miss him about 20%, as that's about how much he was there. He asks if she expects sympathy from him. She says she expected him to be loyal and defend her. He asks if she just expects to be forgiven for her deception and bribes by just saying that she won't do it again. She thinks her heart attack can't compare to the lie of a husband and father who was never there. He goes to pack and returns with a garment bag. She wonders if he feared she'd sell the house from under him. Everything is inventoried and insured, he says. Of course he knows that, she quips, with his obsession with objects. She wishes she would have known that when she built THEIR family business with HER father's money and HER press releases promoting him as the "self-made man." He admits he had help making Forrester what it is - from Brooke, who he's just named as co-CEO, and who's going to be moving into Stephanie's office at Forrester. How adolescent of him to do that, Stephanie quips, comparing it to his declasse "Gone With The Wind" kiss of Brooke in front of her as he left her. She always thought better of him. He tells her that he asked Brooke to marry him. He would, she sarcastically replies.

Stephanie has a new purpose, thanks to Eric.
Stephanie asks why Brooke would want him when she has Ridge. Ridge chose not to stay with Brooke, Eric reveals. She asks if he's OK with being Brooke's second choice. It's better than the bullying, nagging and lies he got as her second choice, he retorts. And Brooke never lied to him? she responds, wondering if that's why he wants a younger woman. He may be an old fool, he says, but it's worth it to be with a woman full of warmth. She asks how Brooke responded to his proposal. He says that she turned him down, but he's going to try again. And if he wins Brooke and it only last 6 months, it will still be wonderful. She realizes that he's still in love with Brooke. He asks if she just realized that. She says she feels like a fool now, for defending the dignity of the Forrester name. And who asked her to do that? he asks. Their children certainly couldn't look to him to do it, she replies. He reminds her that her children always feared her, like her daughters moving away the first chance they got. And he and their sons ran to Brooke, she reminds him. Even if Brooke never existed, Eric says, she would have driven them to someone else. He thinks her trying to mold them into what she wanted has made her bitter and angry, and he and his family deserve better. She tosses him the photo album, saying that's all that's left of his family. Flipping through it, he hopes she took out her photos, as this is HIS family now. As he turns to leave, she thanks him for giving her a purpose. If she means making his life hell, he replies, she's been doing that for years. She tells him to hang onto his sewing machines and his new CEO - if he can. Eric leaves, slamming the door behind him.

Jackie asks Massimo if there's a chance for them.
Jackie drops by the Marone manor and finds Massimo in his study. She says she would have called, but he would have said he was busy. He admits he does that and will work on it. She says he didn't seem like himself the other night. Neither did she, he says, wondering why she wasn't more pleased by Stephanie's comeuppance. The person she was trying to please, she says, was him: she thought he'd be grateful that she showed him that she was right about Stephanie all along. He can see why she would have thought he would do that. She tells him that she saw that might that it wouldn't make a difference between them: in fact, she wonders if it's just a fantasy that she can have a second chance with him. Looking at their wedding photo, Mass says it was a dream come true when they fell in love, and then later when he found out they had a son and got married. She says she felt the same way. Mass starts to ask what happened, but he stops himself, refusing to revisit that today.

Massimo parts ways with Jackie.
Jackie admits that she's wondered why she had an affair that she knew she'd regret. Mass doesn't know the answer, but he does know now that they already had their second chance, and he doesn't think a third or fourth would be any different. He thinks their time has passed, and he can't risk trying again. She thanks him for being honest. He hopes he never misled her. She admits she thought there was some hope today. Mass admits that he still loves her, and he can't control his feeling that in his heart. He can, however, protect himself and his heart from those feelings. Jackie points out how husbands and wives constantly wound each other, so she doesn't know how a marriage can survive without forgiveness. Mass doesn't know, but he knows he can't go on. He's sorry. Jackie turns to leave and says she won't beg, as she has her pride. She can live without him, even though she wishes she didn't have to. She says he's the only man who made her feel larger, not smaller, and she'll always love him, even if he can't do the same. She tells him goodbye and leaves.
Brooke is still on the phone with Nick, asking if Hope is OK. Nick tells her that he's at University Hospital; there's been an accident, and the doctors are doing some tests. What kind of tests? she asks. He tells her that Hope isn't awake, and the doctors aren't sure when she'll wake up, since they don't know how long Hope was underwater and if there's brain damage. Brooke gasps; he assures her that Hope is getting the best care possible. The phone goes silent; Nick calls out Brooke's name, but we see her front door is open.

Nick tries to explain to Brooke.
Brooke rushes to the hospital and finds Hope's room in Intensive Care. She is stunned when she sees Nick sitting there alone. Nick tells her that they took Hope for an EEG. Brooke wants to see the doctor. Nick says he'll be right back. Brooke lashes out at him, reminding him that she left Hope in his care. He says he only looked away for a minute, but she tells him he can't do that with a four year old. The doctor - I missed this in yesterday's update, but it's Dr. Sobel, Brooke's doctor after Dr. Paxson died, who also did Brooke's ultrasound, even though he doesn't seem to recognize Brooke or Nick - comes in. Brooke asks how Hope is. The doctor says there's been a new complication. Brooke asks what he means; before he can answer, they wheel Hope in and Brooke rushes to her side.
The doctor explains that they couldn't do an EEG because Hope had another seizure. Another? Brooke asks, looking to Nick. The doctor says they relieved that, and Hope's CT scan looks normal. Still, there could still be tissue necrosis, so they have to wait. However, Hope's blood oxygen is up and there's some movement, so he's hopeful, but he'd really like to see Hope come to. Brooke asks what kind of problems there could be once Hope wakes up. There could be chronic pain, behavioral changes, paralysis or persistent seizure disorder, the doctor says, but they can't be sure. Right now, all they can do is wait for the next scans. In the meantime, he tells Brooke to stay here and talk to Hope, saying her name; after all, Hope is a word they can't hear too much of. Nick sits by Hope's bed and talks to her, saying he and her mom are here for her, but then Brooke asks him to go. She doesn't want him near her daughter. Nick tries to talk to her, but she says there's nothing to discuss. Nick leaves, but watches from the window as Brooke sits by Hope's bedside.

Brooke sits by Hope's side and sings to her.
Brooke takes Hope's hand and tells her not to be frightened. She's sure the doctors and God will look after Hope. She then starts singing "Mockingbird" to Hope, holding back her tears. Just then, she feels Hope squeeze her hand. Brooke tells her that Mommy's right here and starts to cry from relief as Hope's eyes flutter slightly.
