Stephanie gets a surprising visitor.
|
Stephanie is surprised when she answers a knock at her door and finds Amber there. Amber knows she's the last person Stephanie wants to see, but she wants to talk. Stephanie guesses that Amber thinks all is forgiven since she found and “saved” Ridge and tells her that she's wasting her time. Amber knows finding Ridge can't make up for her mistakes, but she thinks it's a start. Stephanie asks Amber who she is, but Amber isn't sure herself, even after much soul searching. What she knows, however, is that she wants to change. Stephanie says she's heard this before, but Amber insists that she's trying. She admits that when she first saw Ridge in Venice, she thought about looking the other way. But then she remembered how Stephanie always told her to do the right thing, so she did. Even if Stephanie can't stand the sight of her now, she hopes there's at least a chance that Stephanie can forgive her.

Amber hopes to prove herself some day.
|
Stephanie asks Amber if she knows how lucky she is: by all rights, she should be in jail for what she did. But they didn't press charges, to keep the family from being dragged through a mess. She warns Amber to stay away from her family, promising to show Amber the true meaning of the word “sorry” if she fails to listen. She then asks Amber to leave. Before she goes, Amber says that she can't imagine not having Stephanie in her life, but she sees now that she has to do things on her own, like an adult. She just wishes she could prove to Stephanie that she wasn't wasting her time on her and promises to someday do things right; when she does, Stephanie will be the first person she comes to see. Tears in her eyes, she tells Stephanie she's sorry she let her down. Stephanie just closes the door on her, leaving a tearful Amber alone in the night.

Brooke is happy for her daughter.
|
At Ridge's house, Bridget picks up some flowers and practices walking down the aisle. Sitting on the couch, Brooke looks up from her work; she thinks Bridget will make a beautiful bride and asks her daughter what kind of wedding she wants. Something simple, Bridget says, with just family and a few friends, and she'd like to have it here. Brooke says she and Ridge would be delighted to host the wedding. Bridget asks Brooke if she really thinks Ridge would be OK with that; Brooke thinks Ridge would do anything for Bridget. Even accept her fiance? Bridget asks. She looks at her ring and tells her mom about how Nick turned Chuck's into a private paradise where he sang to her and then proposed. Then, he brought her to the Marlin, which he made into a romantic hideaway. It was such a perfect night. Brooke tells Bridget she's happy for her. She knows Nick likes to act like a crusty sailor, but he's one of the few men she can count on, and she thinks Bridget's as blessed to have Nick as she is to have Ridge. Bridget is glad her mom is happy for her; it's long overdue, Brooke says. Speaking of overdue, Bridget wonders why Ridge isn't back yet. Brooke recalls how angry Ridge was when he remembered Nick punching him; she asks Bridget to watch the kids while she goes down to the boat to see what's up.

Ridge makes some strong accusations.
|
On the Shady Marlin, Nick can't believe that Ridge has accused him of raping Brooke in Puerto Vista. Ridge claims that Nick took advantage of Brooke when she was out of her mind with grief. Nick points out that he already admitted that sleeping with Brooke then was a mistake. Since he knows Ridge is recovering, he's willing to forget what Ridge just said. Ridge says he refuses to let Nick violate Bridget like he did Brooke. Nick pleads with Ridge to stop bringing up ancient history and swears that he would never hurt Bridget, but Ridge refuses to let go where his family is concerned. Nick wants to get things straight: while he knows he can't justify it, he can't change how he comforted a desperate Brooke after she thought she lost her husband. But now, he adds, he loves Bridget and is going to marry her. “Over my dead body,” Ridge says. Nick says he'd think Ridge would be happy that he [Nick] is committed to someone other than Brooke. Ridge says he and Bridget have shared a special bond, which is why he won't let Nick use her just to get to Brooke. Is that bond the problem? Nick asks. Does Ridge resent that Bridget will be with someone else? If so, he wants Ridge to just accept that he loves Bridget, and that she loves and wants him.

Nick tries to get through to Ridge.
|
Like Brooke wanted Nick in Puerto Vista? Ridge asks. Nick tells Ridge to cut that out already! He doesn't know why Ridge is bringing this up now, or if it has anything to do with Ridge's memory loss, but all he can say is he's sorry. If Ridge can't accept that, there's nothing he can do, but he's moving forward with Bridget, and he hopes Ridge can see that and give their relationship his blessing for Bridget's sake. He promises he'll never let Bridget down and turns to see Ridge's reaction, only to see that Ridge is gone!
Soon after, Brooke arrives. She tels Nick that she heard about his news and congratulates him; she hopes he sees that she's really happy for him and Bridget. He says he does. She admits she came here for another reason; Ridge just left, Nick says, and he's actually confused about why Ridge even came here. Oh, he knows Ridge is mad at him because he punched Ridge, but there was more to it. Brooke asks what he means. First of all, Nick replies, Ridge got angry again after finding out about the engagement. Brooke says that's just Ridge being protective and thinks Nick should give Ridge some time, but Nick doesn't think that will help. Why not? Brooke asks. Nick tells her that Ridge all of a sudden brought up Puerto Vista again - and accused him of raping her there! Brooke is stunned.

Bridget is stunned by Ridge's reaction.

Back at Ridge's house, Bridget is sitting at her laptop, writing her vows, when Ridge comes through the door. Excited to see him, she runs over, hugs him and tells him how much she missed him. Seeing the ring on her finger,. he suggests that they have some catching up to do. She guesses Nick told him about the engagement and admits that it seems kind of sudden. But she recalls how he always told her she'd know when she met the right person and she wouldn't want to wait - and he was right. She finally met that man. And she realized this when he was away? he asks. She thinks she's actually known for a while but was afraid of jinxing it. But now, thanks to Nick, she's not afraid anymore. He brings out the best in her, and she can't wait to start a family with him. She's so happy that things have come together. Ridge is silent, with just a smile on his face; Bridget asks if he has anything to say.
“There's no way you're marrying Nick,” he coldly tells a shocked Bridget.
