Thomas offers Gabriela a helping hand.
Thomas helps Gabriela move into the Forrester mansion. She says he doesn't have to help her, but he admits he was worried when he went to her apartment to check on her and found out her landlord kicked her. She's touched, and she's also grateful for all his family's support since her mom died. Stephanie not only gave her a place to stay, but also hired her as a personal assistant. Thomas thinks that's great, but he asks if it's what she wants. What she wants, she explains, is to have her mother and their lives back, but she can't have that. Thomas knows how she feels. He recalls the emptiness he felt for months after his mom died, and that never really goes away. But one day, he promises, with the help of people who care like his grandma and him, she'll see that she can get through that and go on, just like he did.

Caitlin tells Thomas her plans.
Thomas guesses that Gaby hasn't had a decent meal recently and offers to make her dinner. He checks the kitchen to see what pasta they have and comes back to find her humming. He asks about that song. Her mom sang it to her when she was little, she says; it's been in her head all day. He thinks that's a message from her mom, like the ones he told her he gets sometimes. Gaby's stunned, because of what the words to that song mean. He asks her to sing it to him, but before she can, a dressed up Caitlin bursts in. Not seeing Gaby, Caitlin tells Thomas that she scored reservations for them tonight at Cafe Russe. Caitlin then sees Gaby and apologizes for interrupting. She offers to leave, but Gaby asks her to stay. Caitlin's glad to see Gaby, since she knew Thomas was worried about her. Thomas tells Caitlin how Stephanie offered Gaby a job and asked her to stay here, so he helped her move in and was about to make her dinner. Caitlin realizes she should have asked Thomas first and suggests that the three of them go out somewhere, but Gaby doesn't want to ruin Caitlin's plans and tells Thomas to go. She can unpack in the meantime. So there's still time for him to change and make their reservations, Caitlin tells Thomas, who looks torn.

Ridge tells Bridget why she can't marry Nick.
At Ridge and Brooke's house, Bridget can't believe that Ridge is telling her that she can't marry Nick. He says he means it, since Nick is all wrong for her. She tells him she loves Nick. She only thinks she does, he says - and more importantly, he knows all about Nick and refuses to let her be hurt by marrying him. She asks if this is about Nick punching him. It's about his being concerned for her, he says. She says there's nothing to be concerned about, because she's happy and in love! With another man who was involved with her mother, he points out. Bridget can't believe that's what this is about. For one thing, her mom is married to him now. And besides, she knows who Nick is, a caring man who was there for her when she was confused by her lingering feelings for Ridge. She pleads with Ridge to stop, but he says he's only trying to keep her from being violated by Nick, like her mother was in Puerto Vista. Bridget says she knows what happened there hurt him a lot, but it's in the past. All she wants is for her and Nick to be happy like he is with her mom. Ridge says he can't allow that, as he's sure Nick still has feelings for Brooke that will reemerge some day. That's not going to happen! Bridget insists.

Bridget defends her and Nick's relationship.
Ridge can't believe that Nick is over Brooke; after all, when has a man ever fallen in love with Brooke and then let go? Bridget refuses to listen: she thinks he sounds like Amber with his talk about latent feelings that don't exist. The difference, he tells her, is that they shared something innocent. Nick and Brooke, however, shared something intimate and sexual, and he doesn't think Nick will ever forget that. Bridget asks why he's making her doubt the man she loves. She knows his past memories seem fresh because of his concussion, but she's sure Nick would never propose to her if he was still in love with her mother. She knows in her heart that Nick loves her, not her mom, and wishes Ridge would stop bringing up the past! But the past repeats itself, Ridge says. No, Bridget says, it doesn't! She thinks he of all people should know the heartache and confusion she felt for years. Now, she's finally happy, but he's getting in the way with his suspicions. She won't let that happen: she wants his support, but she knows Nick won't betray her, and she refuses to let Ridge say otherwise. She walks out.

Brooke tries to explain Ridge's behavior.
Aboard the Shady Marlin, Brooke can't believe that Ridge accused Nick of raping her in Puerto Vista. She guesses it's because of what Bridget told her about concussion victims regaining their memories like they're fresh. That would explain Ridge's attitude, Nick supposes. Brooke thinks it was probably a shock for Ridge to come home and find out about the engagement. Nick doesn't think Ridge will ever accept him marrying Bridget. Brooke thinks she and Bridget can get through to Ridge. Nick thinks she passed that optimism on to her daughter, as it's one of the things he loves about Bridget. Brooke admits she had her misgivings about his relationship with Bridget at first, but she sees now that they're in love and wants them to be happy. But that won't happen when Ridge is ripping open old wounds, Nick says - although when he thinks about it, maybe Ridge did them a favor. Brooke can't see how, when her husband is bringing back pain that they'd laid to rest. But did they really? Nick asks. He thinks they've never really settled anything. And while he didn't like Ridge's accusations, he can appreciate Ridge trying to get his feelings off his chest, since he also has something to get off his chest about that night in Puerto Vista.

Nick has something to get off his chest.
Brooke says she doesn't want to relive that night. Nick says he knows she doesn't, because she's afraid. That night, they made love and shut their feelings down to just that moment, like nothing else existed after. But he doesn't think you can just do that. He doesn't want to upset her, but there's something he's carried around since that night that he thinks she has to hear. Just then, above deck, Bridget arrives. She hears Nick talking; she peeks in the window, sees him with her mom and listens.

Nick tells Brooke that he saw her in such pain in the foundry. All he wanted was to take that pain away for a while, but he didn't. He knows that he should have stopped, and the fact that he didn't is the greatest regret of his life. And he thinks there's a reason that he didn't stop, one that he can't run away from anymore. He has to be honest with her that Ridge is right: whenever he's in the room with her, he recalls how she changed his life. When he found her, he learned to fall in love, to open up to someone. She touched his heart, and the memories of all they've been through - being stranded on the island, going to Hawaii with Hope, her telling him she loved him - are still with him. Brooke says they're with her, too. But memories are all they can ever be, Nick says. It was over for them once Ridge came back into the picture - or so he thought. Brooke asks what he's trying to say; she wonders why he's bringing this up when he's just proposed to her daughter. Like he said, Nick replies, there's a reason. And what is it? she asks. Is it because he still has feelings for her and is in love with her?

Above deck, a stunned Bridget is in tears.
