Johnny invites Bridget out to dinner.
At Chuck's, Nick personally vouches for Johnny to Bridget. Bridget says she wasn't looking for the Marone seal of approval. Johnny bets she wasn't looking for a dinner date either, so he's sorry if he made her uncomfortable. He admits that a bar like this is more Nick's taste than his, and he knows they just met, but he thought they could help each other readjust to the U.S. after their travels. Bridget says she's not the best company these days. Maybe she's hanging with the wrong crowd, Nick suggests. Johnny has an idea. He asks Bridget if she knows Konrad's in Copenhagen. Bridget says she does: she loves their potato tortellini. Johnny says he knows a place that's just as good in West Hollywood and suggests they go there to swap pulmonary lab stories over dinner. Bridget thanks him for the invitation, but she has to say no. Johnny graciously says he understands and tells her Nick has his number if she ever changes her mind. He bids them goodbye and leaves.

Bridget guesses that Nick isn't over her mother.
Nick asks Bridget how she could pass up a catch like Johnny. She says she doesn't like being tricked, but she appreciates his effort. It's just that she doesn't feel like being set up right now. They go to the Shady Marlin, where Nick tells Bridget that she can't hook a keeper unless she throws her line out. Bridget says she's not much for fish analogies. She takes in Nick's poor attempts at housecleaning - or rather, boat cleaning - and notes how his bachelor's decor makes the place smell like a zoo. She starts to clean up and finds a picture of him and Brooke among some clothes. Nick doesn't see the big deal about keeping a picture of his ex-. But this is the only picture he has around, Bridget says, and it's not even tucked away somewhere. She thinks that shows that he's still hung up on her mom, even after Brooke has moved on. Nick admits he was angry at first, but that's in the past. Then why hasn't he had a girlfriend since he broke up with her mom? she asks. He says he has, but she says dating Felicia for a nanosecond doesn't count. At least he put himself out there, Nick says.

Nick opens up to Bridget.
Nick looks at the photo and admits Bridget was right when she said he could understand her pain because he'd gone through it himself. She guesses her mom hurt him pretty badly. In another place and time, he says, it might have worked out. But her mom and Ridge were meant to be together, she says. He says that sounds just like her mom. He thinks it doesn't really matter, since Brooke and Ridge have a kid and are happy. She asks how he could just brush it off that way. He reminds her how hard it was for him to lose a fiance, a son and a mother in one shot. She says she's sorry; she forgot how much he lost. But he moved on with his life, she realizes, while she's hung up on a few stupid kisses with Ridge. But they didn't feel stupid at the time, he says.
Bridget says it's called love, but Nick thinks it's more about having someone on your mind all the time, no matter how hard you try to stop thinking about that person. But after a while, you start to sleep a little more and think about other things. So it just takes time? Bridget asks. Nick thinks so, but he admits that he doesn't have all the answers. But he has to be honest: while he doesn't like to see her in pain, seeing that made him feel like he wasn't alone. Bridget thinks they're just two people who have been hurt and who see that you can't just bury your head in the sand to make the feeling go away. The pain is always there, so you can't just pretend everything's OK. All you can do is move on, but it's just really hard.

Thomas tells Amber not to let his father get to her.
At Amber's Forrester guest house home, Amber finds it ironic that people call her manipulative, yet she's the one who keeps getting tricked by people like Stephanie and Ridge. Thomas tells her not to let them get to her: after all, those people are the ones with egg on their faces when their schemes fall flat every time. But it still hurts, Amber said. She really thought Ridge wanted to give her a chance, so she feels stupid that she didn't see what he was up to. She feels like she could turn into Mother Theresa, but she still wouldn't measure up in his dad's eyes. That's because his dad doesn't want him dating nuns, he laughs. Amber says she's serious: she feels like his dad will never accept her. But that's nothing new, Thomas says, and these schemes have just made them closer. Amber still feels like Ridge is chipping away at their relationship and asks Thomas how long he can defend her. Until his dad finally accepts their relationship, he says.

Amber tells Thomas that she wishes Ridge would accept her.
Amber suggests to Thomas that his dad is wearing him down in ways he doesn't even see, because deep down, he's just a kid who wants to please his parents. Thomas reminds her that he was the one who saw through his dad's plan, so she shouldn't think of him as naive. Still, Amber hates feeling paranoid all the time, having to constantly look over her shoulder. She can't even see what his dad objects to. She's never tried to milk him for money in all the months they've been dating, and she hasn't turned him on to drugs or anything. They've even stopped having sex because of his family's concerns, yet his dad can't cut her any slack. She knows she's made mistakes, but she regrets them and has put them in the past. She has to wonder: hasn't Ridge made a mistake that he's regretted? If he has, Thomas says, he's never owned up to it. Still, Amber bets Ridge had a few juicy stories in his playboy past, so it's unfair that he won't forgive her. She just wishes she knew what those stories were: if she did, maybe she could get Ridge to sympathize with her and change his opinion of her.

Stephanie warns Ridge not to tempt fate by letting Bridget live in his home.
At the main house, Stephanie reminds Ridge of his past feelings for Bridget. She reminds him how happy his life is now and asks if he really wants to jeopardize that by letting Bridget live in his home. But nothing is going on with Bridget, Ridge insists. She's just confused over the feelings they shared, which are all in the past. But those feelings could snowball, Stephanie fears. What Bridget needs now is support, Ridge insists, and she can get that from her mother while living with them. Stephanie suggests that Ridge let Bridget move back here in the mansion: she knows Eric would love that, and Brooke could see Bridget any time she wants. Ridge can't believe his mom keeps harping on this. That's because feelings as deep as the ones he and Bridget shared just don't go away, Stephanie says. Ridge reminds his mother that he's a married man now. All the more reason not to tempt fate and risk those feelings returning, Stephanie says. Ridge assures her that it won't happen again, but she wonders why he even wants to take the chance. Is he trying to prove that he won't repeat his mistakes?

Ridge tells his mother that he won't risk his marriage.
Ridge tells Stephanie that he has nothing to prove, even if she doesn't believe him. She says she's just concerned about his family, including Brooke. She reminds him of the promise Brooke had him make not to even touch Bridget again. And he told Brooke then that he would never cross that line again: isn't that enough? Just then, Amber approaches the house from the terrace. She hears Ridge and Stephanie talking, so she stops on the terrace and listens. Ridge tells his mother not to bring this up again with Brooke or with Bridget. She's just stirring up trouble by doing so. But where there's smoke, Stephanie argues, there's fire, and he's risking hurting Brooke and Bridget by keeping Bridget under his roof. Ridge says he knows what's at stake. That's why he won't even so much as touch Bridget again, since he knows it could destroy his marriage. He won't let it happen.
Outside, a stunned Amber says to herself, "Ridge and Bridget - oh, my god."
