Thomas compliments Caitlin on her dance moves.
In the Forrester Creations showroom, Thomas and Caitlin practice their swing dancing for the contest at this school's formal. They're tapping, swinging and gliding across the floor like they really know their stuff (probably because Drew Tyler Bell, who plays Thomas, is a trained dancer who told Soap Opera Weekly that he asked a friend to help choreograph their moves). As they wind down, Thomas asks Caty where she learned to swing dance like that. She says her nana was a champ and taught her. She asks how he learned; he says he's just a swingin' kind of guy. Caitlin thinks it's getting hot and goes to get some water.

While he waits for her to return, Tom taps along the floor and doesn't see Amber come in behind him. When she slips in and put her arms around his waist, he thinks it's Caitlin and says that was fast. What was? Amber asks. Thinking fast, Tom says he meant her finding him here, since he forgot she was coming. She sees how sweaty he is and says she likes it, even if it is from Eric making him do manual labor. Actually, he says, he was practicing for the dance contest. But isn't it hard to practice alone? she asks. He tells her that he's not alone: Caitlin just went to get them some water. Amber seems bothered hearing that Caitlin's here with him. Right on cue, Caitlin returns with a bottle of water. Thomas tells her that he just told Amber about their going to the formal together. Amber says she's glad Thomas isn't missing the dance on her account. Caitlin tells Thomas that Megan was looking for him, so he goes to find out what's up.

Caitlin wonders if Amber's OK with her going to the dance with Thomas.
Alone in the showroom, Amber tells Caitlin that it was nice of her to go with Thomas, especially since he has a girlfriend. Caitlin says they're just friends and wonders why anyone would care. Maybe because they'd see it as sad or pathetic, Amber suggests. Caitlin reminds Amber that Thomas only asked her because she [Amber] didn't want to go. "I don't," Amber says. Caitlin feels like Amber doesn't want her to go either, and asks her to say so if that's the case. Amber tells her not to be silly. She wants Thomas to go. After all, they have such a mature relationship now, so he deserves this last chance to say goodbye to that high school kid stuff. She then says she has to go and asks Caitlin to let Thomas know she'll call or see him later.

A worried Amber sneaks a peek at Thomas and Caitlin dancing.
When Thomas returns, he asks where Amber is. She went back to work, Caitlin replies. He asks if she thinks Amber is really OK with their going to the formal together. Caitlin admits Amber seemed uncomfortable about it, even though she wouldn't show it, and wonders if they should do this. She doesn't want to come between him and Amber. Thomas tells her not to worry, as he and Amber are solid. He still wants to go with her and kick butt to win that dance contest. Caitlin says she feels the same way. In that case, Thomas says, she should consider herself in training. She warns that she just might teach him a thing or two; he hopes so. He starts the music and they resume their practicing, not noticing that Amber is still there, peeking in the door at them with a worried look on her face.

Massimo drops by to get a look at Jackie-M.
At the Jackie-M boutique on Rodeo Drive, Jackie shows Heather around. She explains that Heather will sometimes have to help their customers, but her main job will be handling Deacon's personal and business needs. Heather asks if Deacon has any favorite foods or drinks. Jackie replies that Deacon loves root beer, and he has a protein shake each afternoon. Heather decides to make him a shake right now and goes to find the recipe. Deacon joins Jackie, who tells him how fabulous his new assistant is. Deacon thinks his girlfriend's quite fab herself: in fact, the "Deacon Sharpe Observer" said she was foxy enough to be ravished in the boutique's window! Jackie's glad to see him in such good spirits, especially after he worried the other night about taking a drink. She tells him again that those days are over. He thanks her for the support and hugs her just as Massimo enters.

Jackie sees Massimo and goes to greet him. She thinks he's looking well and is sorry she didn't know to expect him. Deacon quips that Mass enjoys the element of surprise, but Jackie hushes him and offers to get Massimo a drink. Mass says that won't be necessary: he just heard from Dominick how hard she's been working here and wanted to see for himself. Jackie says she knows he thinks his faith in her was misplaced, so she'd like to prove that he was right about her ability to run these stores. Mass looks around and is actually quite pleased with the elegant, but welcoming ambiance that she's brought to the store. Jackie thanks him. Deacon says they wanted Jackie-M stores to be as inviting as their namesake. With that, Mass thinks he should leave Jackie to her work. She thanks him for coming and hopes, as they still share a son, that they can still be friendly. Mass says he doesn't see that as a possibility and wishes her luck. As he leaves a rattled Jackie and Deacon, he walks past Heather and glances at her.

Heather “mixes” things up for Deacon.
From his limo, Massimo calls Heather. He asks how Deacon responded to his visit. She says that Sharpe seemed shaken up and wonders if that was Mass's intention. He explains that alcohol isn't their only weapon against Deacon, and it isn't even their most powerful one. The strongest weapon they have, he tells her, is Deacon's own weak nature and insecurity. Now that they've harnessed that, they've made Sharpe visualize his own destruction, an image that Mass is sure will make Deacon fulfill his own prophecy. With a little help from them, Heather says. She asks Mass what he's visualizing. Deacon's destruction, he replies, and Jacqueline's despair, pity and eventual disgust. And her return to his arms? Heather asks. Mass tells her not to keep Deacon waiting. She hangs up, takes out the bottle of refined alcohol and pours some into the blender with Deacon's shake.

Deacon warns Jackie about the cruel man he used to be.
In the store, Deacon frets about Massimo checking up on them. He thinks Mass is waiting for him to self-explode. Jackie thinks that's nonsense: if Massimo wanted her back, he'd be taking action. Deacon thinks Mass doesn't see the need to, since Mass thinks of him as a loser who will self-destruct and push Jackie away in time. Jackie thinks that's insane, but Deacon wonders if Mass might be right. He recalls when he was drinking: he was a nasty piece of work who thrived on tormenting others. But he's different now, Jackie insists. Deacon fears that the "old" Deacon is still inside, gathering his strength, and he fears what might happen if that guy tries to get out. That Deacon seduced and used women, and he was as addicted to the pain he caused as he was to booze. Jackie tells him to listen to her: that man is dead, so she wants him to stop thinking about him!

Heather comes in and brings Deacon his protein shake; sensing she's interrupting, she puts it down and leaves. Jackie asks Deacon why he's so scared that his sociopathic alter ego, if he even exists, is going to come out. Deacon thinks it has to do with his recent urges to drink: he still doesn't understand why he has them, and that frightens him. Jackie assures him that she is not going to meet this "other" Deacon. Deacon suggests she might be gone by the time that guy arrives, but Jackie says she's not going anywhere. She reminds him how he put that other person to rest by committing to doing the right thing, so she's sure they can fight his demons together. Hearing her confidence, Deacon vows to fight with everything he has to keep the old him locked up, for her sake. No, she says, he's doing it for himself. He reminds her how much she gave up to be with him, because she felt he was worth it. That's why he's going to fight this, to prove she was right. He takes a drink of the protein shake. Jackie tells him that she believes in him and hugs him, as he clutches the glass from the shake behind her back.
