Darla wonders what's up with Amber.
|
At Spectra, Amber uses Sally's computer to download her photos of Ridge and Bridget from her cell phone. As she prints a photo with the pair very close, Amber comments that Ridge crossed the line. That's why she has to stop him. She puts the photo in an envelope and shuts the photo editor just as Darla enters. Startled, Amber drops the envelope. Darla goes to pick it up, but Amber says it's OK and grabs it. Darla sees Amber is nervous and asks what's wrong. Amber says she just had another run-in with Ridge, who still treats her like a loser. She can't believe Ridge acts so perfect. Darla thinks that's just the spin Ridge puts out to the world. Amber wonders how Brooke puts up with being married to someone like that. Darla guesses Brooke just doesn't see it. Maybe someone should open her eyes to how out of control her husband is, Amber suggests. She owes it to the Forresters to save that marriage. Save it from what? Darla asks as Amber bolts out the door.

Ridge tells Brooke about Amber's visit last night.
|
In Ridge and Brooke's bedroom, Ridge slips onto the bed and gives a sleeping Brooke a good morning kiss. Brooke awakens and realizes that it's morning already. Ridge says he didn't have the heart to wake her after he finished with their visitor last night and suggests they pick up where they left off - and this time, anyone ringing the bell can just wait. Brooke asks who their visitor was. Amber came to see him, he explains. She wasn't happy about his trick at the Jackie M party, and she kept talking about mistakes. It was like she was trying to compare her behavior to his. Brooke thinks it's just the same irrational pattern Amber falls into when she thinks she's being tricked and tells him not to worry, but Ridge can't help but think Amber's up to something. At least Thomas isn't sleeping with her anymore, Brooke says. Speaking of Thomas, Ridge wants to warn him to keep his eyes open about Amber, so he asks Brooke for a rain check on their rain check and heads to the office.

Caitlin's amazed by Thomas's new moves.
|
At Forrester, Thomas finds Caitlin sketching in her office. He looks at her pad and thinks the guy in the sketch looks good, in a "Frank Sinatra" kind of way. Caitlin tosses him a hat like the one in her sketch and tells him to try it on. As Thomas admires the hat, Caitlin explains that she's working on their outfits for the formal. He asks about her outfit; she shows him a sketch with a Rita Hayworth, Ava Gardner type look. Yowza! he declares. She tells him to pull his tongue back in and hand her a fabric swatch. As he grabs the swatch, the swing song they chose for the dance starts playing. Thomas says that's his cue to show her a new move he came up with.
Outside, Ridge approaches and hears the music. He peeks in through the window and watches his son and Caitlin dancing across the office. When they're done, Tom puts his hat on Caitlin, who says that was amazing... that is, his new move was. She's sure it will blow everyone away. Outside, Samantha and Hector come over and ask Ridge what he's looking at: he tells them to take a look. Thomas notices all the faces by the window, so he opens the door and asks the grown-ups if they sold tickets. Ridge says he could have, as they were that good. Hector asks what they just walked in on. Thomas and Sam joke that dancing on the job's part of the job description here at Forrester. Hector doesn't quite buy that, so Ridge explains that the kids are in a dance contest at Roxbury Academy's winter formal. Caitlin shows the invitation to her dad, who asks Thomas why he didn't invite Amber. She's not into the high school dance thing, Thomas explains.

Hector and Samantha worry that Caitlin might get hurt.
|
Caitlin tells Hector that she and Thomas are just going as friends. But they won't be unless they get back to work, Thomas says. Hector and Sam tell their daughter they'll see her later and leave her to her work, while Ridge asks for a moment with his son when he's done. Sure, Thomas says. The proud parents leave the office. Outside, Sam marvels at the fact that they have the next Fred and Ginger right here. Hector wonders if Amber knows. Ridge tells him not to worry about Amber, but Hector fears she might freak out and stir things up. He worries where that would leave Caty. Hopefully, Ridge says, in Thomas's arms. Hector's not too happy to see his daughter used as a punching bag just to get Thomas away from Amber. Ridge tells him not to worry. He promises that Caitlin won't be hurt, since it'll be Amber's world that starts to unravel.

Thomas assures Caitlin before having a chat with his dad.
|
Thomas tells Caitlin that their parents are still out there: he bets his dad is making a case again for the two of them to hook up. Is that what he's doing? Caty asks. Or is he just trying to keep Thomas away from Amber? Thomas agrees that his dad would prefer him with anyone, even a cockroach, over Amber. But he reminds Caitlin how highly his dad thinks of her, so he's sure Ridge would be thrilled to see them together. Caitlin starts to feel uncomfortable and wonders again if her going to the dance with him is a good idea. She doesn't want anyone to get the wrong idea. Thomas tells her to forget that and just think about the fun they'll have. OK, Caitlin agrees.
As Thomas and Caitlin get back to work, Ridge pops back in. Caitlin offers to take her sketch down to production so father and son can have some time alone; she tells Thomas she'll order some Mexican food so they can get some more dance practice in on their lunch break and leaves. Once she's gone, Ridge tells Thomas that he and Caitlin have lots in common. It's just too bad she made that mistake with Rick. Thomas tells his dad that there's no point in thinking about that now, since he's with Amber. But how does he know Amber's the one? Ridge asks. He says that when he was Thomas's age, he sowed his wild oats, trying out different cultures and food... And women? Thomas asks. Well, Ridge says, it is a big world, and now's the time Thomas should be exploring it. He doesn't want his son to miss out on that by being tied down. Thomas asks Ridge if he ever misses that. Ridge says it was fun while it lasted, but in the end, it led him to something greater, the lives he shared first with Taylor and now with Brooke. He wouldn't trade that for anything. He can't even imagine a life without Brooke in it.

Amber brings Brooke a warning.
|
Amber arrives at Ridge's Bel Air mansion. Brooke tells her that Thomas is at work, and Ridge is gone, too. Actually, Amber tells Brooke, she came to see her. Brooke hopes this isn't an attempt to rag on Ridge: while she sympathizes with Amber from her own experience as an outsider in the Forrester family, she's not about to let Amber trash her husband. Amber says she's here to do just the opposite and warn Brooke about Ridge, for the family's sake. Brooke asks what she means. Amber reminds Brooke how "out there" Ridge has been lately, acting like a loose cannon. He puts down his own brother, insults sweet Darla, is at odds with his son and even tried to oust his father from the company he founded. Brooke thinks that's simplifying things a bit, and besides, none of that is Amber's business. But Ridge has a problem, Amber insists, one that Brooke just can't ignore. Brooke tells Amber that she's seen Ridge's efforts to manage his problems. "What about the efforts he's making when you're not around?" Amber asks.
Brooke asks Amber what she means. Amber asks Brooke if she thinks about what Ridge does when she's not around. Brooke asks what her point is. Amber says she's trying to tell her about Ridge -- and Bridget. She knows what's going on with those two, and she thinks if they can talk about it, they can... Brooke has had it with Amber and asks her to leave. But it's still an issue, Amber insists. She overheard Ridge and Stephanie talking about it, and... Brooke is furious, but Amber insists she's not the enemy here. In fact, she's been inspired by Brooke's fight for her man and her family, which is why she's here to warn Brooke about a threat to that. She can just imagine how Thomas would be hurt by an affair between Ridge and Bridget, and... There is no affair, Brooke insists. Whatever happened between those two is in the past. Amber reminds Brooke of her threat to end her marriage if Ridge made a move towards Bridget. Brooke says she remembers: she trusts her husband to honor that, so they don't have to have this conversation.
Amber thinks they do. She wants Brooke to see what's going on in her own home. She reaches into her bag, hands Brooke the envelope and says she's sorry. Brooke opens the envelope and stares in shock at the photo of Ridge and Bridget. Amber says Ridge has hurt a lot of people, and she doesn't want Brooke to be one of them. That's why Ridge has to be stopped before it's too late.
