Amber tries to tell Stephanie what she did.
|
Amber sits in the Forrester living room, looking at the photo of Bridget and Ridge. She nervously puts it down on the table. Stephanie enters and asks what's wrong. Amber starts to ramble about how much this family means to her, including Ridge. She hopes Stephanie knows she'd never intentionally hurt them. Like Stephanie, she only wants to protect them. Stephanie asks what she's trying to say. Amber says she only went over there to make peace with Ridge, but he was still out of control and wouldn't listen. Stephanie tells her to calm down and get to the point. Amber says it's nothing, but Stephanie sees the photo on the table and picks it up. She looks at it and asks Amber how she got this. Amber bets Stephanie's upset, since this shows something obviously intense, and... Stephanie says nothing's going on there: Ridge and Bridget are just standing there. Amber admits she overheard Stephanie talking with Ridge earlier about his past with Bridget. She knows how Ridge has been hurting the people he loves, and after she saw this, she fears Ridge is repeating his mistake and making Bridget his next victim. Stephanie is upset that Amber listened to a private conversation.

Stephanie is furious at the lengths Amber went to for revenge.
|
Amber says she didn't mean to eavesdrop; in fact, hearing that Ridge made a mistake gave her hope that she could make him see that everyone deserved a second chance. But he was awful to her and wouldn't listen, and then she saw him and Bridget and... And she took that photo to get back at Ridge, Stephanie guesses. No, Amber says. She didn't mean to see them together, but when she did, she knew how much it would hurt the family. She took that as a sign that Ridge and Brooke needed a wake-up call. Stunned, Stephanie asks if Brooke saw this photo. Amber admits now that it was a bad idea, but she really didn't want to cause trouble. And what did she think would happen when Brooke saw this? Stephanie asks. OK, Amber admits, it was a terrible idea. She sees now she should have come to Stephanie first. What she should have done, Stephanie says, is butt out of something that's none of her business. She wonders if Amber did this to disgrace Ridge in front of Tom. No, Amber says: she didn't even show Tom or anyone else the photo. She really wanted to save the family, just like Stephanie would do, just like she's been trying to do since she moved in here. Stephanie says Amber doesn't care about this family, just about her place in it - but Ridge was a threat to that, so she took that photo to get revenge.

Nick shows Bridget his outlook on life.
|
Nick brings Bridget home. As they walk through the door, Nick fakes getting a text message from Sasha. Bridget says Sasha's a talented orangutan - and she hates to break it to Nick, but it turns out Sasha's a male! Nick says they shouldn't judge based on that. Bridget bets her dad and Stephanie might not be cool with Sasha's gender, but at least now they're not so worried about her. She offers Nick some wine. Nick accepts and laughs at the thought that her dad and step-mom are less worried after she fixed someone up with an ape. Which he was a good sport about, Bridget reminds him. She promises not to tell the guys at Chuck's. Nick thanks her.
Bridget tells Nick that she usually isn't that impulsive. Nick says he knows, since he's always seen how prim and proper she is. She prefers to think of herself as cautious and considerate, since she's seen bad things happen when she doesn't play by the rules. She thinks he, like Peter Pan, forgets about the rules, and she thinks she can learn a lot from his approach to life. He inspires her. Nick's glad to see he's bringing the real her out. As he picks up a banana, he says he's the same way. He feels like he can be himself around her - except, he says, peeling the banana, he sometimes doesn't know who he is. He starts making monkey noises and jumps around the room like an ape. He picks Bridget up, tosses her over his shoulder and carries her around the room. She tells him to be careful not to break anything, so he tosses her on the couch and jumps on top of her. They move close to each other, but Nick then pulls back and asks if he's crushing her. She says she's OK. He guesses he should get back to work. As he leaves, she tells him to call her after his flea dip and thanks him: she knows he gave her a lot of leeway and doesn't want to abuse his trust. She won't, he says as he leaves.

Brooke wonders if Ridge is sure of his feelings.
|
Upstairs in the bedroom, Ridge keeps trying to convince Brooke that nothing happened between him and Bridget. He shows her the photo and says the look on his face isn't desire. It's joy, because Bridget told him that she's OK and ready to move on with her life. He was glad to hear that, as he friend, but that's all it was. He promises Brooke that his heart belongs only to her, and whatever happened between him and Bridget is now in the past. Brooke says she thought the same thing, so she really wants to believe him. But now she has to ask him to look deep inside and ask himself if he's telling himself the truth. She knows him so well that she thinks he may not even be aware of his feelings for Bridget. Ridge says he's sure of his feelings, and the only ones he has for Bridget are platonic. Yes, he cares about Bridget...
Just then, Bridget comes upstairs; she hears Ridge say her name and asks, what about her? Ridge says they're in the middle of something, so Bridget excuses herself, but Brooke tells her to wait. She shows her the photo and asks what's going on there. Bridget recognizes that the photo was taken last night and asks Brooke if she took this. No, Brooke says, Amber did. But Amber left right as she came home, Bridget recalls. Amber apparently was lurking outside, Ridge says. Brooke tells Bridget to forget that: right now, she wants to know what was happening in the photo. Bridget looks to Ridge, who nods to her. Bridget tells Brooke that she had just come home from spending time with Nick, and he helped her see that she was farther past her feelings for Ridge than she realized. She came home, and she was telling Ridge that. She asks Brooke what she thought was happening.

Ridge and Briget are surprised by Brooke's request.
|
Brooke says she's glad to hear that, because she was concerned about her daughter's unresolved feelings for Ridge. Bridget's resolved them now, Ridge says, which means they can put this all behind them now. Brooke says she can't do that, not until she really understands what went on between him and Bridget. Bridget tells her mom not to rehash this, but Brooke thinks she has to say this. She has to admit that Bridget was there for Ridge and his kids at a difficult time in their lives. She thinks Bridget filled the void Taylor left because she is a lot like Taylor, which put her close to Ridge's heart. She accepted that then, but she also knows she'd never survive if it happened again. She thinks Bridget and Ridge are the two most important people in her life, which is why she has to ask them to look deep inside themselves for any residual feelings they might have for each other. She needs to know if those feelings exists, and she needs to know now...
